Chapter 395

Chapter 395

The pain was so intense that he nearly forgot how to breathe.

He furrowed his brows and looked at Katherine. His voice was as gentle as a whisper. “Don’t worry. I won’t let anyone hurt him.”

With his assurance, Katherine slowly released her grip on his arm. Her emotions gradually stabilized.

Brodie wrapped her in his arms. His eyes swirled with an uncommon depth of feeling.

Watching the scene, Ian clenched the sheets in his hands. He could almost imagine the number of times Brodie and his mother had been hunted down in the past. And the hunter, he was almost certain, was his own mother, Sierra. That was why Katherine had such a visceral reaction at the sight of her.

Ian’s heart gave a fierce thud.

His gaze shifted back to Brodie. His voice was a low rumble. “Should we get a therapist?”

Brodie shook his head. “No need. She’s calmed down now. It’s just that each episode takes a lot out of her. She’ll need half a day to recover.”

Clara immediately helped Katherine to the bed. “Katherine, why don’t you lie down for a bit?”

Katherine walked unsteadily to the bed and lay down slowly.

Clara tucked her in, whispering, “We’re all here with you. No one’s going to harm you or little bro.”

Tears brimmed in Katherine’s eyes as she looked at Clara. “Clara, my son has suffered so much since he was small. Don’t leave him behind, okay? Be good to him, will you?”

When she heared these words, Clara’s eyes instantly reddened. She nodded vigorously. “He’s my dearest brother. I’ll never abandon him. Rest assured.”

She smoothed Katherine’s forehead. Clara’s voice was soft as silk. “Get some sleep. I’ll be right here.”

Katherine’s eyes slowly closed and it wasn’t long before she fell asleep. Clara held her hand tightly, afraid to leave her side.

Teo stood silently by the bed. His eyes were fixed on Katherine. Why did he feel this sense of déjà vu? It pierced the depths of his heart. Had they been involved before he lost his memory?

But wasn’t Sierra the one he loved back then?

Why did his feelings for Katherine feel like the flutters of first love?

He sat by the bed and lowered his voice, “Clara, let me stay with her. You go check on Brodie.”

Clara got up and followed Ian to the living room.

Brodie was standing by the window, looking out. His tall figure seemed lonesome and tender in a way that tugged at Clara’s heartstrings.

She approached him and softly called out, “Brodie.” Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

Brodie turned. His eyes were slightly red. “I didn’t scare you, did I?”

Clara shook her head. “No, are you okay?”

Brodie’s lips curved into a faint smile. “I’m fine. I’ve gotten used to it.”

“Can you tell me about the times when you were being hunted?” Ian suddenly asked from behind them.

His deep-set eyes carried a murky, unreadable emotion.

Brodie lifted his gaze, appearing calm, but a storm was hidden deep within his eyes.

“Have you figured something out?”

Ian locked eyes with Brodie for a long moment. Those eyes, that nose — they bore an uncanny resemblance to his.

To be precise, they resembled his father Teo’s.

The first time Ian saw Brodie, he had this feeling. He thought it was just a coincidence and that there could be no connection between them.

Now, it seemed he was mistaken.

Ian’s lips tightened, and a hoarse voice escaped his throat.

“You’re my dad’s son.”
