Chapter 2135
Chapter 2135
Sighing, I listened to the shop assistant's explanation as I looked around for another dessert that caught my eye.
"Mr. Marshall."
The shop assistant's flattering greeting attracted me and Hendrix's attention. Following the voice, we saw a high-spirited Jordan enter the shop.
Unexpectedly, my doppelganger was standing right beside him, and she had the same style as I did. The shop assistants all stood around wide-eyed and surprised to see this.
Jordan saw Hendrix and I at a glance. He did not look surprised at all. Instead, he led the woman towards us.
"I see you both are a fan of the desserts here too."
His familiar tone would make others think we were a friendly family and that this was just an ordinary meeting between twins and their boyfriends. We didn't answer him. We looked at the other "me" tacitly.
Noticing our strange behavior, Jordan chuckled and put his arm on the woman's shoulder and introduced her. "What's wrong? Don't you know each other? Aren't you familiar with each other?"
After hearing Jordan's words, the woman, who had been expressionless, looked into my eyes as her gaze grew sharper.
"Do you still remember me, Mr. Roberts?" The woman suddenly turned her attention to Hendrix and flashed him a fake smile.
Her voice was a bit strange. It was as if there was something stuck in her throat. She would've easily been mistaken for me if it wasn't for her voice. She'd fired at Hendrix the moment they met. Could she and Hendrix inadvertently have some romantic qualms with each other? However, it was not the time to ask him about this while Jordan stood right there. The first thing to do was to stand as one so that the opponent could be scared off.
If a woman declared herself promptly, she could protect her man from harm.
I deliberately moved closer to Hendrix. Holding his arm, I said proudly, "I'm sorry, Miss. My husband doesn't remember anyone of the opposite sex. He only remembers his relatives and me. So sorry to disappoint you."
Hearing that, the woman looked sideways and stared at me for a while. Then, she revealed an ambiguous smile and said, "Arianna, I don't remember you being so protective before."
I was taken aback by her response.
What was going on? She knew
Hendrix, but she also seemed to be acquainted with me. She basically shared the same face, but I had no impression of her voice at all. raked through my brain for an answer, but she matched no one from my memories.
"Who the hell are you?" I could no longer pretend to be calm, and my breathing turned labored.
Hendrix gently patted me on the arm to comfort me. He then calmly continued, "That's because outsiders don't understand my wife well enough. Arianna has always been like this. If she offends you, please bear with it."
"Your wife is the aggressive one, yet you want us to swallow our anger for her. I'm afraid that's not right.".From NôvelDrama.Org.
The woman stressed her words
angry at Hendrix's attitude. Jordan pinched her at her waist, and then she quickly restrained herself.
"Please don't take it to heart. Naomi has been abroad for a long time. She may be straightforward, but she means no harm. I was going to take her to visit you, but I didn't expect to meet you here." Jordan pretended to persuade her.
Naomi? Among the people I knew, I only knew one with this name. And that was Naomi Attwood.
But she had died in that destructive explosion, hadn't she?
I looked at the woman opposite me blankly, and couldn't place a face to her identity.
The sales assistant suddenly took the packed cake and leaned in. "Mr. Marshall, this is your cake."
Jordan smiled at the sales assistant before looking at us. "Please give it to them since they like it. Do put it on my tab."
"Sure." The sales assistant nodded humbly and handed over the cake. "Sir, here's your cake."
"That's alright." Hendrix didn't even raise his head as he spoke. "It's not mine. I don't have the right to enjoy it."
"I..." The sales assistant found herself in an awkward position, not knowing who to give the cake to.
Jordan chuckled. "It's just a cake. You don't have to get so worked up about it."
Hendrix was silent for a moment.
The air seemed to be still until he spoke again. "I've always been like this. You don't know Arianna. Similarly, you can't guess what would choose. It's the same for cakes and other things as well."
