Chapter 99
4 Amends Lily POV
When I open my eyes, anger courses through me. How the f**k did I let that happen? I'm angry at myself for letting that b**ch distract me. Angry for giving Colton the opportunity to beat me. Ariel is quiet, but I can feel her in the back of my mind. I look around and realize I'm in a hospital bed of all places.
I'm surprised my Liam, my uncles, or my parents are here. Sh*t I know my uncle is going to say something to my parents. I need to talk to them before my dad gets angry at Colton. What happened is between the two of us. I don't need anyone else getting involved. Besides, it's my
own damn fault.
I immediately start to pull the leads off my chest and throw the blankets off of me. I do not need to be here. I'm going to kill and Jayden for bringing me here. When the door opens, I expect to see the doctor or Liam but instead Colton steps inside. "Lily, what are you doing," he says rushing toward me.This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
He grabs my arm, trying to lead me back to the bed, but I shake him off. "Colton, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be checking on your girlfriend?"Lily, I'm sorry" he starts to say, but I glare at him. "Don't you dare come in here and apologize. It wasn't an accident, Colton. Apologies are for accidents, and I'm pretty sure the punch was deliberate. We were fighting Colton. I shouldn't have allowed myself to be distracted by your girlfriend's cronies."
I notice the guilt flash in his eyes and I wonder if he knew what that b**ch was going to do. Before either of us can say another word, the door to my room slams open, startling us both.
My father, followed by my mother, stalks into the room. My father looks pissed off, but my mother just looks disappointed. Their eyes are focused solely on Colton. Before my dad can lose his sh*t I step in front of Colton. "Dad, you need to calm down. I'm fine, and you can't get angry if I get hurt during sparring. We were literally fighting."
"I am well aware that injuries can happen during training, but warriors are supposed to have honor. Taking a cheap shot is pathetic and what enemies do when they know they can't win fairly," my dad says. Colton drops his gaze to the floor. "I'm sorry Beck. I came here to apologize to Lily. I know what I did was sh*tty. I felt horrible the minute it happened," he says.
He turns toward me. "I'm sorry Lily. I know I've been a terrible friend, but I promise I'm going to do better." "I already told you I don't want your apology. It was my fault for being distracted. Dad, you don't get to be mad at Colton for taking advantage of me being distracted. There are
no rules for fighting."

"There may not be rules, but I'm glad you came to apologize, Colton. Lily is right that in a real fight there are no rules for survival but sparring with other pack members isn't life or death. No
matter what reason you had for taking the cheap shot, it wasn't a good one. Even if Lily doesn't feel it's necessary, I'm glad that you wanted to take ownership of your mistake and apologize," my mom says.
She moves until she is standing in front of Colton and pulls him in for a hug. "I love you Colton and as mad as Beck is he loves you too." Colton looks up at my dad and, despite his scowl, he nods. My mother turns toward me and I can already see I'm next for a telling off. "Alright, now young lady, you will get back into that bed until the doctor says you are good to go," she says. I open my mouth to protest, but the glare my mother directs at me has me getting back into the damn bed.
I expect Colton to leave now that everything seems to be settled. I'm shocked to see him take a seat in the corner of room. Mom and dad leave to find the pack doctor. There is an awkward silence that fills the room until I finally break it. "Colton, you really don't need to stay. Mom and dad will be back with the doctor in a minute. I'm sure Camille is looking for you."
"Lily, I'm not worried about Camille. I told you I plan to be a better friend to you. I'm the reason you ended up here today. I want to make sure that you are good before I leave. Friends don't bail on their people. You are one of my people, Lily. I've been an a**hat who worried more about the opinions of people who don't really matter, and I'm sorry" he says.
"I appreciate that, Colton, but honestly I made peace with the changes to our relationship years ago." I see regret and hurt flash in his eyes. He goes to open his mouth to say something but the door opens and Liam steps inside. "Didn't I tell you not to pretend like you actually care? Camille is looking for you, so run along," Liam says. Ariel pushes to the surface and I can feel her irritation at Liam. "Enough Liam," I say, her emotions bleeding with mine. "Colton has apologized, and I'm fine," I say in a much calmer tone.
Liam nods before he comes over, giving me a hug. "I'll head back to the pack house and have Gia set aside a few pieces of her peach cobbler for you. She made an extra pan because she knows it's your favorite." "Thank you, Liam." He heads for the door but not before glaring at Colton. Once the door clicks closed, Colton looks back at me.
"He is really protective of you." "He cares about me. Most pack members do, except for a few people like Camille and Leo. I am the heir to the pack, Colton."A knock on my room door interrupts our conversation. When the door opens and I freeze. Camille glares at me before she looks at Colton. "Colton, I've been looking all over for you. I didn't expect you to be here with the pack princess, but one of the nurses said you were," she whines. "Enough Camille" he says, putting distance between them.

"The next time I hear you say anything even a little disrespectful to Lily, we are done" he says. Camille looks at me with hatred in her eyes before she looks back at me. "You don't mean that. We are going to be mates. She isn't important" she starts to say, but Colton grabs her by the arm, leading her out of my room. Colton has a long way to go for me to even consider him a friend, but watching him put that b**ch in her place was a good start. Colton POV
As soon as I pull Camille into the hallway, my sister and Beck are walking toward us. "Alpha, Luna, I just came to talk to Colton about what happened. I'm sure you heard that Lily injured me during sparring," she says, acting like Lily did something wrong. "I heard that you lost in a clean fight. Was I misinformed, Camille," Beck asks. "No, you weren't misinformed, Alpha," she says, gritting her teeth. "Good, I would hate to think the future heir to the pack would do anything to dishonor herself" he says.
"Alpha and Luna, could you excuse us? Camille and I need to have a word." "Sure, we are going to take Lily home if you want to check on her later, Colton," Rosalyn says. I notice the corner of my sister's mouth quirks up when Camille starts to look like she has sucked on a lemon at the thought of me checking on Lily. She is really starting to get on my nerves with her petty bulls*t. Lily has never done anything for her to be such a b**ch.
I lead her out of the hospital and toward the benches near the playground. When we take a seat, I take a deep breath. "Camille, do you care about me?" "Of course, I do. I told you I know in my heart we are going to be mates. I love you Colton." "I care about you too, Camille." I see the disappointment that I didn't say those three words she wants so desperately to hear back from me, but I won't say what I don't feel yet. I do care for her, but it's not love.
"I need you to hear me because I mean it, Camille. Lily is important to me. We used to be best friends when we were pups but I didn't do my part to protect her and that's on me. Going forward if you or Leo talk any sh*t to or about her, we are done."Colton" she starts to say, but
I cut her off. "I mean it, Camille. Do you understand what I'm saying?"
"Fine, I just hate the way she looks at you sometimes. She can't have you, Colton. You are mine," Camille says. I look at her like she has ten heads. "I don't know what you think you are seeing but Lily and I are just friends. Well, we will be friends after I make up for being a d**k these last few years. This is the first step to repairing what I broke. So can you treat Lily with
respect or are we done?"
She starts to cry. "I'm sorry, I promise I won't say a word to her. I'll even tell the other girls to leave her alone." I pull her into my arms. "Thank you" I say and press a kiss on her forehead. As I hold Camille, her words about the way Lily looks at me, swirl around in my head. Camille is just a jealous she-wolf. That's what it has to be. Lily isn't interested in me. Besides, we are 3/4
