Chapter 95
95 Final Bonus Chapter One Month Later Maureen POV
My eyes flutter open but I immediately close them. I must still be asleep because what I just saw can't be real. I count to three and open my eyes again. The white wolf with green eyes is still sitting there staring at me. I get to my feet and look around. This place is nowhere I've ever been. A small cottage sits off to the side of an open field. When I turn back to the wolf, it has shifted to a beautiful woman. Long blonde hair frames a heart-shaped face. The dress she's wearing matches her eyes.
"Hello Maureen," she says, taking a step toward me. "I don't mean to be rude, but where the hell am I and who are you?" The women laughs, taking another step toward me. She reaches out her hand to me and, despite being a little freaked out, I take her hand in mine. "I knew you would be perfect. My name is Abigale and this isn't really a place. For lack of a better description, it's the plane between reality and dreams," she says.
"So this is a dream?" "No, this is very much real. The goddess has been kind enough to allow
me this brief time to thank you. Thank you for loving Barrett. Thank you for showing him that he deserves a second chance at love. He was so focused on vengeance for me, he lost the
man that loves with all his heart. He has found that again with you," she says.
"You never have to thank me for loving him. I thank you and the goddess every day for sendin him to me. I thought I knew what love was once, but it was just an illusion. With Barrett, I know he loves me and only me. I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that." "Yes, you should have. You are absolutely right. I am his past, Maureen. I want him to be happy. He loves you and only you now. That is how it is meant to be," she says.
I can feel tears roll down my cheeks. She reaches up and wipes the tears away. "You deserve to be happy Maureen. I confess I brought you here not only to thank you but to give you a gift. I'm not sure if you've realized it yet, but there is a pup growing in your womb," she says. I take step back, almost falling on my a**. "It can't be. I could never have any more pups after Addie,
no matter how hard we tried."
"That was the goddess intervening because of all that Robert had done. She was protecting you in the only way she could. Humans have free will, but that doesn't mean she doesn't meddle when she can. I never got to see my pup be born or grow, but I want you to. I want you to give her the chance at the life she should have had. You are her mother, Maureen. My happiness will be seeing you love Barrett and your daughter," she says. 1/4

I can't stop the sobs as I fall to my knees wrapping my arms around my middle. Soft fur nuzzles my face and my eyes fly open. A small white pup with the same green eyes lay its head in my lap. I look up at Abigale, and she smiles down at the two of us. "Thank you, Abigale." "This is what was meant to be," she says as she turns to leave.
I run my hands through the wolf's soft white fur expecting to wake up any second, but instead Abigale turns back to me with a smile that resembles the Chesire Cat. "I know all of this was
quite a shock for you, Maureen, but just know that you aren't the only one." This time she completely disappears. What the hell does that mean? Knowing I won't get any more answers, I lay on the ground next to my pup.
My eyes fly open, and I damn near jump out of bed. I can't help but laugh when Barrett is so tangled in blankets he rolls onto the floor. "Maureen, what's wrong" he asks, as he manages to get to his feet. I rush over and launch myself at him. "We're going to have a pup." His body
stiffens before he finally pulls back. His beautiful eyes meet mine and I can see tears already
forming in the corners.
"Not that I wouldn't be thrilled if that was true, but how can you be so sure, my love?" I tell him
about my visit with Abigale and our daughter. By the time I'm done, tears flow steadily down his cheeks. Without a word, he falls to his knees in front of me, pressing a soft kiss on my
belly. I say a silent prayer of thanks to the goddess for this man and our pup.
The phone on my nightstand rings and, despite not wanting to interrupt our moment, I worry it could be Addie. She has had so much sickness because of her pregnancy. I can't ignore the call in case it's her. I bend and press a kiss on Barrett's lips before I make my way around the bed. When I see Miranda's name flash on the screen, Abigale's words come rushing back.
Miranda POV
I wake up and it's still dark outside. I haven't been sleeping well, but I'm not sure why. As I move around the room, I try not to wake Charlie as I make my way toward the door. I'll make
myself some warm milk with honey, so I can get a little more sleep before I go see the pups. When I push the door open, I take two steps and stop in my tracks. What the hell is happening? This place doesn't exist anymore. I watched them burn it to the ground after we
collected the wild flowers from around the tree.
"It's alright Miranda." I turn to the sound of a familiar feminine voice. "Susan," I say when my eyes meet hers. "Hello, my friend." "I'm so sorry Susan. I should have known something was wrong." "No, don't do that. Don't you dare take ownership of someone's f**ked up behavior. You are one of the kindest women I have ever met. Look what you've done for my pups. Do you think there are many women who would willing accept pups that came from her husband's infidelity," she says.

"You and your pups are innocent in everything that happened. You didn't deserve what that ba**ard put you through. I only wish I could have killed him sooner and saved you all the pain! "As much as I hated every minute with him, I have never regretted my pups. Everything happened as it was supposed to Miranda. My soul is at peace knowing that my pups have you and Charlie."
I move toward her, not knowing if this is real but needing to hug this woman that sacrificed so much for her pups. I pull her into my arms and sob. She rubs circles on my back and whispers soothing words into my ear. The guilt I've been carrying for what Cain did to this woman seems to fade, replaced by a sense of peace.
When I pull back, she reaches up and wipes my cheeks. "Let this be the last time you feel any guilt for the actions of that monster. I promise you that he is paying for every sin and indiscretion he ever committed against us and our pups. Now I know this is going to be a shock to you because I'm pretty sure you thought that Colton would be your last pup, but surprise, you're pregnant," she says, and I laugh.
Like really laugh, because that can't be true. I mean I'm older, but I guess it could still happen. Is she for real or is this just an elaborate dream? That's it, my mind is playing tricks on me because I'm not getting enough sleep. "I promise you this isn't a dream, Miranda. The goddess is blessing you with another pup. A part of you and Charlie but also part of my pups," she
says.
She presses her hand to my stomach. "Thank you, Miranda. Love our pups enough for the both of us: Oh, and don't worry. You won't be alone and neither will your daughter. Make sure you call Maureen after you tell Charlie the good news." Just like that, I sit up in my bed. Placing my hand over my still flat stomach, I sob.NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
Charlie turns over, quickly pulling me into his arms. "Miranda, what's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" "No, I didn't. Charlie, what would you say if I told you I was pregnant?" I brilliant smile spreads across his face. "I'd say thank you for making me a father again. Then I would spend the rest of the morning showing just how grateful I am," he says, wiggling his eyebrows.
I laugh and press a kiss on his lips before I tell him about my visit with Susan. When I'm done, he pulls me into his arms. I can't wait to call Maureen. I think if I'm right we will have a lot to celebrate. Despite the sh*t storm that swept through our lives the goddess has truly blessed us all.
