My Marriage to a Mute Girl

Chapter 9 Things are not as they should be

Chapter 9 Things are not as they should be

Lexie had stayed at the hospital, but just at ten o'clock at night, Peter called her again.

After looking at it for a long time without answering, but the phone continued to flicker, finally, she

gritted her teeth and answered it.

Peter's voice was cold and unusual, "After hearing Edith say that you left the Howard family in the

morning, I guessed that you were at the hospital with your grandma, so I'm sure you're clear on why I

disconnected the hospital's money."

Lexie pursed her lips, and she knew clearly that it was because she hadn't finished what he had told

her.

Immediately afterwards, she heard Peter sneer, "Do you not want to go back to the Howard family? I'm

telling you, Lexie, you have to go back! If you refuse to go back, I will make all the hospitals in the city

not dare to take in your grandma, you understand I can do that. Of course, if you don't believe me, you

can boldly try, if your grandma dies accidentally, you're the one who killed her."

Lexie's expression suddenly changed.

She squeezed her phone, breathing hard with anger, and how she wished in this moment that she

could speak up and let out all her frustrations with this father.

Peter achieved his goal and smiled in satisfaction, "You better behave or you can't afford the

consequences."

After he hung up the phone, Lexie's eyes fell on the face of her grandma on the hospital bed, and her

heart thought bitterly, if she had some success, she wouldn't have been taken by her father at will, and

her grandma's condition wouldn't have to be delayed until now.

Now at eleven o'clock at night, she took a deep breath and took a taxi back to the Howard family.

The maids were resting.

Lexie hadn't eaten any food since the morning, and she lightened her steps to go to the kitchen to find

something to eat.

Just as she reached the living room, she was startled by the dark figure leaning against the corner.

Apparently, the man had spotted her too.

Why is Alan here? Where's Edith?

"What are you looking for?"

Seeing her look around, Alan narrowed his eyes and asked.

Lexie took out a pen and paper and wrote down two words: [Sister]

Alan's gaze became dark as he stared at the woman's face, "Aren't you afraid that I'll let Edith replace

you?"

Lexie was baffled by his question and didn't know what to say for a while.

He flicked the unburned cigarette butt on his fingertips with two fingers, the butt then fell to the ground,

the spark died out, and he raised his eyes to look at her, "Edith is staying at the Howard family, what to

say and what not to say in front of her in the future, I hope you understand this." All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

Lexie froze, was this a warning that she couldn't make Edith angry?

Thinking of the imperative to Alan in Edith's eyes during the day, Lexie slowly lowered her eyes, for so

many years, it had never been Edith's part to bully her, when would she take the initiative to mess with

Edith?

If she could, she would like to never have any dealings with Edith.

Unfortunately it was not to be.

The next morning, Edith knocked on Lexie's room door.

"Sis, I heard Mrs. Stewart say that the pond in the backyard is quite fun, would you come with me to

see it?"

Edith looked at her with anticipation like a lively, harmless little maiden.

Lexie glanced around, and Marry as well as the servants were paying attention to their direction.

If she didn't go, maybe the Howard family would say something about her again.

So, Lexie nodded and agreed.

The two of them walked together within the Howard family compound, and they had to say that this the

Howard family was simply too grand, even Lexie sighed in his heart.

It was said that Alan’s grandfather Stanley Howard had retired from his position ten years ago, and had

been living in the old mansion to recuperate his body and mind, with Alan taking care of everything,

even more powerful than when Stanley was in his prime.

In the mall, no one could take advantage of Alan's hands, and likewise, the people who flattered him

were in large amount..

The backyard pond of the Howard family, with its strong human and financial resources, is comparable

to a large swimming pool.

The water swam with all kinds of valuable fish, and Lexie accompanied Edith as she stood on the

vintage bridge and admired it downwards.

For an hour or two Edith was happy to enjoy the scenery and be at peace with each other.

But as they were about to leave.

Lexie, who was walking in front, was suddenly pushed by Edith and almost fell.

Steadying herself and looking back, with a poof, Edith fell into the fish pond.

"Help! Help--"

Lexie froze on the spot.

This trick of Edith's was too obvious, how could the large the Howard family not have cameras? As

soon as they checked, they would find out the truth.

But Edith had always been smart, couldn't she have thought of that?
