My Darling, My Dearest

Chapter 423 Rachel Had A Nightmare

Chapter 423 Rachel Had A Nightmare

"Auntie, what's bothering you?" Henry asked Tracy.

"I don't know what's wrong with Jack recently. He's really not doing well." With a worried expression on her face, Tracy turned to look at Henry. "He is still finding it hard to recover. As a mother, I worry about him. I only want him to live a peaceful life in the future. As much as possible, I don't want him to be in trouble again.

Henry was a little taken aback because he didn't expect Tracy to open up to him. But he still replied, "Yes. I hope he can already move on."

There was a short silence between them before Tracy spoke again. "I suppose you also know what happened between our family and the Shen family. So even if Jack and Rachel go back together, the past will always be like a bomb between them that may explode at any time."

Thinking about Jack's current situation, Tracy couldn't stop her tears from falling. Overcame by her emotions, she choked. "Now that they broke up, it would be better they won't get back together again. After all, Jack has Scarlett now."

She was implying that the relationship between Jack and Rachel was already over. Henry frowned but didn't say anything. Until they arrived at the Fu family residence, none of them spoke again. Tracy just bade goodbye to him, then got out of the car.

Rachel suddenly had an inexplicable fever. She could feel a dull pain in her throbbing temples, and her eyelids felt extremely heavy.

She wiped her forehead with a cotton dipped in alcohol, but it didn't alleviate her fever at all. Lea took the cotton from her and threw it into the trash can. With a trace of worry in her eyes, she asked, "Rachel, are you really okay? I think we should go to the hospital now."

"No need." Rachel lay down again and pulled the quilt. "I'll just take a nap, and I'll be fine."

She then closed her eyes and fell asleep after a short while. Suddenly, she felt that her body floated in the air and landed into a small apartment. The simple decoration and furnishings inside looked familiar to her.

As she walked around, she vaguely remembered that this was supposed to be her and Jack's home after the wedding.

She went upstairs and gently pushed the bedroom door open. There, she saw a woman sitting in front of a white dresser, drying her hair with a towel. Not long after, the bathroom door opened and Jack came out. A white towel was wrapped around his waist. With glimmering eyes, he approached the dresser and said to the woman, "Silly girl. Why don't you dry your hair with a hairdryer?"

"I don't want to use the hairdryer. It's too heavy.

Rachel frowned. The voice was not hers.

She slowly walked to the dresser to take a

closer look at the woman. Her heart skipped

when she recognized that the woman was

Scarlett.

Scarlett turned around and stuck her tongue out at Jack, acting like a spoiled child. She then said coquettishly, "Can you help me?"

"Of course."

Jack went to the cabinet and took out the

hairdryer. He then stood behind Scarlett and gently helped her dry her hair. His face was full of affection towards her.

The dim yellow light from the ceiling cast on them. As a couple, they looked so warm and beautiful. But tears started to well up in Rachel's eyes upon witnessing such an intimate moment between Jack and Scarlett.

She suddenly rushed to them, grabbed Jack's arm, and asked hysterically, "Why are you with her?"

But Jack just ignored her. This time, she grabbed Scarlett's hair and said through clenched teeth, "Does it feel good to be a mistress? There are so many men in the world. Why does it have to be Jack?"

Lea, who had been sitting on the bed and watching Rachel, couldn't help frowning. At first, Rachel was lying quietly in the bed. But now she was raising her hands and waving them in the air. Her innocent face suddenly became a little ferocious. Lea thought, 'Is she having a nightmare?'

She shook Rachel's shoulder gently and called her name. "Rachel?"

After calling her name three times, Rachel slowly opened her eyes and asked blankly, "What's wrong?"

"I think you're having a nightmare."

Rachel pressed her hands on either side and slowly sat up. Gradually, she remembered her dream. She closed her eyes again, trying to figure out why she suddenly had such a dream.

She could never imagine herself becoming that aggressive. Even if she saw Jack and Scarlett so intimate together, she would never rush and hurt any of them. Instead, she would just turn around and leave.

Looking at Lea's inquisitive eyes, Rachel smiled awkwardly. "It was indeed a nightmare."

She then touched her forehead and said, "My fever is gone."

But Lea didn't believe Rachel. She took out a thermometer from the bedside drawer and checked Rachel's temperature. Looking at the result, she heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank God your temperature is back to normal. Otherwise, I will take you to the hospital right away."

"Don't forget that I am also a doctor," Rachel said with a smile. She glanced at the clock on the bedside table and reminded Lea, "Aren't you going to pick up Rita?"

Lea suddenly stood up and slapped her forehead. "Oh my! I almost forgot."

She then ran to the door in a hurry. Seeing that she became panicky, Rachel advised, "Call her teacher first. Don't worry. You're not very late."

Rachel didn't expect that she would sleep for more than three hours. And since she hadn't eaten anything because of her fever, her stomach was grumbling now. She changed her clothes and decided to go to the kitchen. But as soon as her hand touched the doorknob, her phone suddenly rang.

Jack was calling.

She thought of canceling his call, but she suddenly remembered the divorce agreement. After thinking for a while, she finally answered it.

Jack ordered, "Come to the hospital now."

"I'm not available today," she replied coldly.

He sneered. "You just signed the agreement. Remember?"

She took a deep breath. Since Jack had a valid reason, she didn't have a choice but to agree. It wasn't a big deal anyway.

Julie thought that Lea would stay longer with Rachel, so she left a note on the fridge door that she would go to the supermarket.

Rachel checked the fridge and the dining table, but there was nothing to eat. She washed some vegetables, took an egg, and cooked a bowl of noodles for herself.

She couldn't starve herself at this moment because of the baby in her belly. Her baby should not suffer because of her.

After the noodles were cooked, she poured them into a bowl. She was about to start eating when her phone vibrated. There was a message from Jack. "It's been half an hour, but you're not here yet."

She just read the message and put her phone aside, without bothering to reply.

After a while, her phone rang again. As soon as she answered it, he said, "If you don't come here in twenty minutes, you won't like the consequence."

Rachel frowned. She thought that if there would be no traffic jam, she could reach the hospital in less than twenty minutes. However, she hadn't touched the noodles yet, and she was hungry. After thinking for a while, she decided to put down her chopsticks and rush to the hospital.

Unfortunately, she encountered a lot of red lights on the road. It took her nearly forty minutes to reach the hospital.

When she entered his ward, Jack was sitting on a chair by the window. With a dark face, he said, "What took you so long? This hospital is not that far from home."

"I was stuck in a traffic jam," she replied expressionlessly.

Jack frowned and pointed at the thermos bottle on the tea table. "Eat that."

Rachel walked over, opened it, and found that it was a fish gelatin soup. Tracy must have cooked it for him. She put it down and shook her head. "I don't want this."

"Are you trying to refuse my offer?" Jack raised his eyebrows and showed his phone. He was obviously threatening her.

Rachel didn't retort. She just glared at him angrily, took a spoon, and had a few mouthfuls of the soup.

While she was eating, Jack fixed his eyes on her face.

Earlier, he thought of ignoring her. He even wanted to take revenge on how she had treated him. But seeing her pale face and much slimmer body now, he suddenly felt a pang in his heart. When he saw her in the restaurant two days ago, he had already noticed that she seemed to have lost a lot of weight.

Tracy had been bringing him bone soup every day because she wanted him to recover quickly. But yesterday, he suddenly requested that she should change it.

She thought that he must have gotten tired of drinking the same soup every day, so she asked with a smile, "How about I cook you corn soup tomorrow? It's not that greasy, so it's also good for your health."

He shook his head and said, "No. I want some soup with lemongrass and fish gelatin."

"Didn't you like the smell of fish gelatin before?" Tracy asked confusedly.

He just smiled. The soup was actually not for him, but for Rachel.

And knowing that Rachel would refuse if he told her to come over for the soup, he thought of making an excuse.

Although the thermos bottle looked small, it contained enough soup to fill Rachel's empty stomach. She got so full that she couldn't help burping out loud.

She put down the spoon and looked up at Jack. "Did you ask me to come over just for this soup?"

Jack shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well, I don't want to eat it, so I thought of asking you to have it."

"So, you asked me to come here just to eat your trash?" Rachel laughed sarcastically.

Jack didn't answer and just looked down at his phone. Rachel wiped her mouth and stood up. Her voice was so calm that no one could tell any emotion from it. "Next time that you get bored, please spare me."

"I'm not bored."
