My Billionaire Wife

Chapter 10

Abrar Point of View

“OK. Ok fine. So, I’m Zoya Ali. And I can do anything. Anything,,” she repeated the word and snatched the file from me. She walked towards the table and continued eating her breakfast.

Her actions were so shocking.

I walked over to the counter and sat down staring at her, wondering how she came up with all these ideas. It was fascinating as well as scary.

“Seeing me for the first time?” She snapped as she stared at me with a disgusted look on her face.

“I was just wondering something,” I said, as I continued watching her.

“What?” She asked, sipping her tea.

“How did you make that certificate?” I asked her as I took a bite of my toast. I needed to eat as well.

“I told you. I’m Zoya Ali” she replied with a wink.

I swear she was so annoying at some points. Especially when she ignored my questions as if I was nothing.

“That’s not the answer. And that’s not the answer to every question I ask you,” I said in annoyance.

But she only giggled. I could see her more precisely in the daytime. Her nostrils flared up whenever she smiled.

“Someone’s being bossy”, she gazed at me.

“I’m not being bossy, Zoya, This whole drama revolves around us, you and I, so I have the right to know everything that connects the both of us. Don’t forget you are the one who placed me into all this mess”

“You are stubborn, Abrar Zafar”

Yes. I’m. Now, will you tell me?” I asked, sounding frustrated.

“Well, I talked to my lawyers last night. He made this paper overnight and sent it to me through courier this morning”, she replied. She had everything planned, that was crazy.

“Oh! So he knows about it?” I asked her, referring to her lawyer.

“Of course.”

“Won’t he tell anything to your father?” I asked.

“You don’t need to worry about it. In fact, you don’t need to worry about anything. Just go to the office, and continue your day like nothing happened, It’s more than enough for me” she responded with her cold harsh tone.

I drove my eyes away from her and looked at the clock. Heck! It’s already way past 10, I’m very much late for the office. I drank the tea at once

“You just had one piece of bread,” Zoya said as I quickly finished my food.

“I’m getting late, and guess whose fault it is,” I said, shooting her a glare.

“So you are leaving your breakfast just because you are late?” She raised her eyebrows. “Finish the last one and then leave,” she ordered.

I looked at her surprisingly. Did she say all this to me? Nobody had ever ordered me like this after this after my mother. I had almost forgotten how it feels when someone asks to have a meal and then leaves. It’s been 12 years.

“What happened? Why are you looking at me like this? Sit down,” she ordered again and I couldn’t resist her.

“Eat this now,” she ordered with a glare, so dominant.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

I followed her orders without wasting a minute. I forgot that I was getting late. I didn’t know why I was listening to her but I was loving the way she ordered me which was quite surprising.

I finished the bread and looked at her like a kid waiting for his parents’ approval.

“Great. Now you can go” she spat. I shook my head and stood up.

” Call me if you need anything. And please order something for lunch today. I’ll try to prepare your lunch before leaving tomorrow,” I said. grabbing my bag and rushing to the door.

“Your lunch!” She asked me.

“I don’t eat lunch, ” I smiled at her and walked out, slamming the door.

As I believed my life was in a weird phase now where I didn’t know what was going to happen to me. It had been less than a day since I met Zoya for the first time, also became her fake husband, and also welcomed her into my house.

Nothing prepared me for what happened in the office, for the first time I was going to work at the main office, according to the HR team.

The whole office floor was decorated beautifully with festoons and balloons. Mr. Ali was waiting for me at reception. The whole staff clapped as I walked towards them.

“Welcome, Abrar. Welcome,” Mr. Ali beamed while giving me a warm hug.

“Thank you, sir,” I smiled, breaking the hug. “But what is all this?” I asked.

Everything was quite overwhelming and surprising.

“Congratulations,” one of my colleagues greeted me. Then another, then another. I thanked 40 people one by one without any reason. Which congrats? Which marriage? Why thank? Some people who never talked to me properly were being nice to me. So I realized people appreciate you and talk to you properly either when you marry the daughter of a Billionaire or you are a billionaire yourself. Money can buy attention.

“Sorry, sir. I got late today,” I stammered.

“You don’t need to be sorry. You are late for the first time and the reason must be Zoya,” he responded. He knew his daughter so well. Every father knows.

“There’s nothing like that, sir,” I said. Trying to be humble as much as I could.

“Haha, you can’t lie to me. Especially when it’s about Zoya. Anyway, we will talk about it later. Now go to your desk and get back to work. You have a lot of work to do In your new position” he said as he patted my back and headed back to his cabin.

I looked around and found everyone still looking at me as if I had accomplished something huge. When I rolled my eyes, they got back to their desks. I sighed and walked towards my desk. I had a pile of work to do. Moreover, my state of mind had worsened terribly.

” Great job buddy” a sarcastic voice hit my ears and I turned back. Kaif was looking at me, being less.

“Kaif, what’s up? You look pissed off.” I narrowed my eyebrows.

“Shouldn’t I?” He spat. I understood what was pissing him off. But I had no explanation. Kaif is my only friend in this office. We work in the same post, the least preferable post anyone can say.

“You didn’t tell me you had a girlfriend. And you were dating Mr. Ali’s daughter. It was not enough. Then you got married to her. Fuck! What kind of friend I am! Do you even consider me a friend?” He snapped. His anger towards me was fair. If I were him, I would be pissed at him too.

“I… I was just confused,” I replied like an idiot since I had idea how to respond.

“Confused? About what? Telling all this?” He exclaimed.

“No. About. Zoya. I mean it’s not so long. I was unsure whether I could marry her or not… But before that, her father wanted to marry her off. So I had to make a quick decision.” I stuttered. Finally, I could come up with a decent story.

Kaif stared at me suspiciously, like he felt I was hiding something from him.

“Oh! Now that makes some sense. Anyway, it happened,” he said nonchalantly.

I didn’t want to lie to him as he was the one who had been my only friend. Whenever I needed him he was there. I still remember the day of Nikhat’s wedding, when I had almost lost my senses after crying for hours. He was there to handle me. He took me to his place and his parents fed me well, and took care of me when I was suffering from a bad fever. Now, I was hiding a big truth of my life from him.

I felt guilty but I had to save my job too. I have my old grandparents in my hometown. If I lost this job, it would’ve caused me a great loss.

We turned on our computers and started working.

“Lucky bro” I heard a familiar voice and looked up. Rony was barking from his desk which was opposite mine.

“Really man,” Chavi, the other colleague, joined him from her desk.

“About what?” I was clueless by their sudden interest in me. I was always seen as trash by all of them as I worked mainly in the field before.

“Buddy, don’t act so innocent. You also know that you have cracked a jackpot” Rony smirked. This guy could never utter some sensible statement.

“She is a girl, not a jackpot. “I snapped angrily.

Though they knew nothing about us, I wasn’t liking the way he was dragging Zoya in our conversations.

For the first time. I could answer them on their face. However, that was not because of my fake powers of being Mr Ali’s son-in-law. It was because I felt like he uttered rubbish about my wife. Damn! I was assuming her my wife!
