Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 22

Selena stayed quiet for quite a bit before her deep, dark eyes finally landed on Everett's face. "Are all of these for me?"

"Yep." Everett lifted his chin, hands tucked in his pockets, waiting for her to light up with joy.

"What's your game here?"

Everett shot her a sidelong glance, his dark eyes piercing. "Aren't these the kinds of things you love?"

It was all about her superficial tastes, after all. If it meant she'd quit her antics, he didn't mind taking a leaf out of Jaime's book to pamper her a little.

Catching the undertone of his words, Selena walked over, grabbed one of the bags casually, and gently caressed it. "I do like them. This bag, for instance, is one of a kind, the stuff of dreams for many women." Everett wasn't surprised by her answer; her charade was finally nearing its end.

"Too bad, I'm over it," Selena said, putting the bag down and trying to tear her eyes away from it, restraining her excitement.

She had just boldly claimed in front of Margot that she'd never land an interview with Ink & Insight in her lifetime, but then he went ahead and secured it for her, making her eat her words.

Was he still playing games after such a brazen slap to her ego? Who was he trying to annoy?

"There's only one thing I'm interested in now."

A slight frown creased Everett's forehead, but he quickly got the drift and lazily smiled. "Go on."

"Your signature on the divorce papers!" Selena pulled out a divorce agreement from her bag and handed it to him.

Everett's handsome face turned stormy in an instant. Was this woman stuck on repeat? Every time they met, it was divorce this, divorce that.

He snatched the agreement from her and tore it up without a word.

Selena didn't try to stop him. Once he was done, she simply pulled out another copy from her bag and handed it over again.

"There are no paparazzi here. Sign it

now,

finaliwe'll have the lawyers

divorce tomorrow. It'll all

be hush-hush, and there'll be no risk of it leaking out."

"And don't worry about me using the divorce as a publicity stunt. I've added a new clause for

confidentiality post-divorce until we both agree to go public, so our interests are protected."

Everett laughed, his dark eyes coldly fixed on her. "You've really thought this through, haven't you?"

"Thanks for the compliment."

She faced problems head-on, always seeking solutions. Such a thoughtful, soon-to-be ex-wife was a rare find, but this jerk had lost his chance. Everett took the agreement, quickly flipping through it, finding it exactly as she described.

Selena handed over a pen, pointing at the signature line. "Right here, just a quick scribble will do!"

Instead, the divorce agreement landed heavily on the coffee table, and Everett settled into the sofa, his voice surprisingly calm. "Selena, you should know how stubborn a man can be. The more you rush me, the less inclined I am to divorce you."

Selena was taken aback. She had already bent over backwards, and he still wanted to play hardball. What kind of jerk was he?

Clenching her fists, she let her words drop like stones. "Everett, what will it take for you to agree to the divorce?"Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
