Married 50
Chapter 50 Disappointment
“Ms. Davis has been found, but she has a high fever from the cold and is still on an IV.”
“Okay. Then you’ll help keep an eye on things hero. Everything will wait until he wakes up.”
Harper arranged it briefly and then left the ward.
She actually wanted to go straight to Lauren and ask for clarification, but that thought was immediately drunk out of her.
Benjamin braved the heavy rain in the middle of the night to find Lauren, but Lauren didn’t force him with a knife holder around his neck. So, what qualifications did Harper have to question Lauren?
Harper drove straight back to Pineview Villa. She washed up and ate breakfast, then took another shower before going back to her bedroom to sleep.
Inside the hospital, Benjamin woke up close to eight in the morning.
Harper had been gone for over an hour by then.
He opened his eyes to see the woman sitting off to the side with her head propped up and her eyes closed.
Benjamin frowned and looked at Lauren, who was wearing a hospital gown and had a pale face before he remembered what had happened.
The anesthesia had wom off, so the pain from his wounds and broken foot was excruciating.
Benjamin felt pain when he moved even slightly.
With that, Lauren opened her eyes, looked at him on the hospital bed, and said happily, “Benjamin, you’re finally awake. Do you feel any discomfort there? I’ll go call the doctor over.”
“No need.” Benjamin frowned in pain, and his face was expressionless. His thin lips didn’t have the slightest trace of blood color.
“Benjamin, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. I’m the one who got you into this mess.”
Lauren blamed herself for the guilt, terrified to learn that Benjamin had been in a car accident trying to find her.
“I don’t blame you. How are you doing? Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, just a little feverish. But the nurse gave me a shot and I’m much better.”
Lauren shook her head, and her eyes were swollen from crying. Watching him covered in scars made her even more sad.
Benjamin’s expression was warm, with no noticeable ripples. He asked, “Why are you the only one here? Where are the others?”
He helplessly scanned and did not see that familiar figure. His brows furrowed, and his emotions were a bit complicated.
Lauren hurriedly responded, “Curtis went to prepare the change of clothes and toiletries you’ll need. He will be back soOIL.”
“I got it.”
Benjamin didn’t ask anything further.
He just closed his eyes and his injured face looked haggard. Benjamin remembered that he was driving too fast and crashed into a nearby utility bar at one of the intersections in order to avoid a small car that ran a red light
Lauren watched Benjamin in silence. As he closed his eyes, she didn’t dare to disturb hin.
Not long afterward, Curtis came by with something…
Curtis asked, “Ms. Davis, is Mr. Martin awake?”
“Well, he just woke up and now he’s luck to sleep…”

“Curtis ” Benjamin’s low voice sounded slowly. He mid. “Send lauren to rest. There’s nothing more I can do “
“Benjamun, just let me stay and take care of you. I can do it.”
Lauren subconsciously refused because she wanted to be by his side to take care of him, to be there for him. After all, Benjamin had gotten hurt because of her.
is will be here. You’re just fine with the fever, so go ahead and rest.”
He didn’t budge one bit, just said, “No, Curtis
He looked straight at her, not budging in any way. In the end, she could only nod her head in agreement
Curtis sent Lauren back to her hospital rooms before he returned. Just as he entered, he heard Benjamin ask, “Where’s Harper?”
His tone was cool and his expression bland, but a very obvious displeasure surfaced between his eyebrows.
Curtis hurriedly responded. “You were silmitted to the hospital last night, and I contacted Mrs. Martin as soon as Í
as soon as I could. Mrs. Martin arrived and stayed until this moning. She stayed with you for the night, and only went back after she was sure you were fine. By now, Mex Martin should be home resting.”
The coldness in Benjamin’s face dissipated a little, but the look was still not quite there
Curtis asked tentatively. “Mr. Martin, do you want me to call Mis. Martin?”
“No, let her rest.”
Benjamin was aleof and clearly not pleased.
After that, Curtis was careful not to make the slightest mistake for fear of angering Benjamin.
Harper slept for a long time and didn’t wake up
There were several missed calls on her cell phone.
It was Frank calling.
She immediately called back.
“Frank, what can I do for you? I was just sleeping ”
“Nothing. I’m just a little worried about you seeing as you’re not at the office this late. You sound a little hoarse, so what’s wrong with you?” Frank inquired with concer
“I may not have rested well, so I won’t go to the office today. I’ve revised the drawing sent by Summit Realty, and I’m still not satisfied with some parts You communicate with them and see if they are willing to revise it. If they don’t want to, they can only improve on the original.”
Harper got up and washed her face, then went downstairs to grab a quick bite to eat
She was a little distracted and kept thinking to herself, “Should I tell someone over at the Martin Manor about Benjamin?
If Benjamin is intentionally hiding it, there won’t be any news passed out.
Forget it, lest grandpa will worry and be anxious.”
As for the hospital, no call ever came.
Benjamin should be awake by now.
Harper narrowed her eyes slightly and hesitated, then sent a message to Julie, asking her to help inquire,
Soon, Julie called Harper and said. “Benjamin is awake. You don’t have to worry. He’s fine. It’s just that he needs to rest for a while with his broken foot. and the injuries on his body need time to heal.”
“Okay. I got it

Julie felt very upset for Harper.
Harper was beautiful and talented, and while it was true that the Mitchell family was no match for the Martin family. But she couldn’t be bullied like

Harper didn’t have any response to this and just said, “What happened has happened, so it’s good that he’s okay. Keep an eye on the hospital for me. And if anything happens, you let me know.”
“Okay. Don’t worry.”
Knowing that Benjamin was fine, Harper had no intention of going to the hospital.
This matter was like a thorn stuck in her heart. It wouldn’t be fatal, but it caused her a hidden pain that she simply couldn’t ignore.
Julie’s words punctured Harper’s feelings. They weren’t even divorced yet, and Benjamin was willing to risk his life for Lauren. Where did that put her?
Harper thought she could just ignore it, but as it turned out, there was really no way she could act like nothing happened.
Harper refused to go to the hospital, and naturally, Benjamin didn’t reach out to her.
The two were at a standstill.
Benjamin woke up and let the doctor give him a shot because the wound hurt too much. Later, he slept.
As he woke up again, it was late at night.
Benjamin moved just a little, and Curtis woke up. “Mr. Martin, just let me know if you need anything.”
He was indifferent, his brow flushed with coolness, and his entire being exuded a chill that made Benjamin not easy to approach.
Benjamin didn’t say anything. After all, he had no way to get up right now, and even going to the restroom was only possible with a urinary catheter. This wretched and terrible state annoyed him to no end
Benjamin stayed up all night.
Lauren came over early the next morning.
She had regained her health and was busy taking care of Benjamin.
But his constant flatness worried Lauren a little. So, she took the initiative to find a topic of conversation. “Benjamin, didn’t Harper come over to keep you company? Is she angry because you got hurt because of me?”
