Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Date With Jessie (2)

He was trying to do the right thing, but it felt like everything was working against him. He began to wonder if it would be better to just keep quiet and let things continue as they were.

After a few minutes, Jessie came back, her phone now switched off.

“I’m so sorry about that. I promise this time there won’t be any more interruptions.”

“It’s okay,” Alexander said.

“So what did you want to tell me?” she asked.

“Uhm… where do you want to go for our trip?” he asked, after deciding not to tell the truth. It was best he didn’t tell her about his fake marriage with Marissa.

Jessie was taken aback by the question. She had been expecting something much more serious.

“Uhh, well… I hadn’t really thought about it,” she said, trying to recover from the surprise. “Where did you have in mind?”

Alexander could tell she was confused, and felt a bit guilty for not being honest. But he just couldn’t bring himself to tell her the truth.

“How about we go to the Bahamas?” he said, trying to sound excited. “I heard the beaches are amazing.”

Jessie looked at him skeptically. “The Bahamas?” she asked.

“Yes,” he said, trying to convince her, “it’ll be a great trip. You can lie on the beach, soak up the sun, and just enjoy yourself. It’ll be like a dream come true.”

Jessie looked at him, still not convinced. “I don’t know, it just seems kind of sudden. Why do you want to go to the Bahamas all of a sudden?”

Alexander felt like he was getting trapped in his own lies. “Well, I’ve just been wanting to go somewhere tropical and relaxing. And I thought it would be nice to take you there.”

“Is that what you wanna tell me?” she asked.

“Yeah… why?” he asked.

“Well… because we could have discussed this on phone. I had to leave some work unattended because you said you wanted us to discuss something. So I thought it was urgent and that was why I came.” she said.

Alexander’s heart sank. He had never thought about it that way. He had only been thinking about himself, and not about how his actions would affect others. He felt horrible.

“You’re right,” he said. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to inconvenience you. I just… I just wanted to talk to you in person. I wanted to see you.”

He could see the disappointment in her eyes, and it hurt him to know he was the cause of it.

“It’s okay,” she said, trying to soften the blow. “I’m glad we got to talk.”

But even though she was trying to be understanding, Alexander could tell that something had changed between them. There was a tension in the air, and he felt like he had lost some of her trust. He tried to think of a way to make things right, but he couldn’t think of anything.

“So… what now?” he asked, trying to move past the awkwardness.

Jessie sighed. “I think we should just forget about it and move on. Let’s not let it ruin our day.”

She tried to smile, but it was clear she was still upset.

He realized that he couldn’t tell her about his fake marriage with Marissa. He felt it could hurt her and so it was best he kept it to himself until he secures the contract.

He realized that he was in a difficult situation. On the one hand, he didn’t want to hurt Jessie by keeping secrets from her. But on the other hand, he needed to protect his business interests and secure the contract.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

He decided that the best thing to do was to try to move past the awkwardness and make things right with Jessie, without revealing his secret. He knew it would be difficult, but he was determined to make it work.

“I understand,” he said. “We don’t have to talk about it anymore. Let’s just enjoy the rest of the day.”

“So what do you want us to do today, then?” she asked.

“Why don’t we order our favorite meal and just spend time chatting?” he suggested.

“That sounds perfect,” she said, visibly relieved. “I’m actually really hungry, so food would be great.”

They ordered their favorite meals and settled in for a long chat. They talked about everything from work to their families to their hobbies. The conversation was easy and comfortable, and for a while, Alexander forgot about the secret he was keeping.

But as the day went on, he found himself thinking about it more and more. He knew that eventually, he would have to tell Jessie the truth. But he wasn’t sure how to do it, or when.

As the day drew to a close, Jessie suggested that they go for a walk. They strolled through the park, enjoying the cool evening air and the golden glow of the setting sun. The tension between them had eased, and they were able to enjoy each other’s company without any awkwardness.

“Thank you for today,” Jessie said as they headed back to the house. “I really needed some time to relax and just be myself.”

“Of course,” he replied. “I’m glad I could help. And thank you for being so understanding.”

“It’s not a problem,” she said. “I know you’re under a lot of pressure with the business. I just want you to know that you can always talk to me if you need to. I’m here for you.”

The sincerity in her words touched him, and he felt a rush of gratitude. He realized how lucky he was to have such a supportive friend.

“Thank you,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “I really appreciate that.”

“I have to go now, I have an important meeting tomorrow morning, dear.” she said.

“It’s fine….” he said.

She walked towards her car and zoomed off.

Alexander made a decision and then called Anderson to carry out the plans.
