Anderson Sincerity (2)
It was a true friendship, built on mutual respect and admiration.
“I can see why you admire him so much.” Marissa said, her voice soft. “It’s clear that you two have a special connection.”
Anderson smiled, his eyes warm.
“I feel lucky to have him as a friend.” he said, his voice sincere. “It’s not often that you find someone who you connect with on so many levels. Alexander is a special person, and I’m grateful to have him in my life.”
“How did he meet Jessie? And what did he see in her that made him choose her?” she asked.
Anderson was quiet for a moment before he spoke.
“Would I say love at first sight?” he said thoughtfully.
“I think it’s fair to say that Alexander was struck by Jessie the moment he laid eyes on her. There was just something about her that drew him in. But I think it was more than just her looks.
Alexander saw something in Jessie that he didn’t see in other women. She had a spark, a fire that he couldn’t resist. And when he got to know her, he realized that she was a kind and compassionate person.
She had a big heart, and she was always willing to help others. She was a person of integrity, and that’s something that Alexander values.”
Marissa listened
“But the only flaw she had was her obsession for her job and needing a promotion at her work place so badly.
They were connecting so much and spending time together until her boss informed her that the company was planning a promotion and so she became obsessed about it and began spending less time with Alexander and she just changed.” he explained.
“Alexander, at first thought maybe it was work stress, but it became frequent and he didn’t know what to do about it.
They had discussed it and she had promised to make time so that they could spend time together, but she never kept her promise.
So when this contract Alexander had been waiting for long came, he asked her to marry him, but she rejected him on the phone saying that she wasn’t ready to get married because of her promotion.
She actually told him that if she gets married, they won’t give her the promotion she had been working so hard to get.” he said, as he took another sip of his coffee.
Marissa sighed.
“I guess that was why he resorted to contract marriage with me.”
“Yeah, and I think that was the best decision he made and honestly, it changed Alex into becoming a better man.
The love you showed him changed him, Marissa. He told me about how you wake up early in the morning and prepare him breakfast when he had an early morning meeting and you also gave some to his driver.
You showed him love in your little kind gesture and I guess that’s what made him fall in love with you.
Then when you went to Switzerland together to meet the client to sign the contract and when they asked you those questions.
The way you answered with such great poise, he was impressed by your action and fell in love with you more.” he said.
Marissa blushed as she heard him say those words.
“That’s why he chose to officially announce you as the woman he wants to marry to the world,” he said.
Then Marissa’s expression changed to a sad one.
“But what about Jessie? She must be feeling betrayed and hurt by what Alexander did.” she said.
“I think Jessie was aware of the fact that Alexander loved her more than the way she loved him.” Anderson said.
“She knew that she was his girlfriend and I guess she felt that Alex was never gonna leave her. She took him for granted that I must say and did other stuff she shouldn’t have done.”
Marissa looked at him, her eyes wide. “What do you mean by that?” she asked.
“I think Jessie took advantage of the fact that Alexander loved her more than the way she loved him.” Anderson said, choosing his words carefully.
“I think she knew that he wasn’t going to leave her, and so she did things that she wouldn’t have done if she had been more aware of his feelings.”
Marissa listened, her eyes still wide. “Like what?” she asked, her voice shaky.
Anderson took a deep breath. “Well, let’s just say she did some things that she shouldn’t have done and I guess that was what ruined her relationship with Alexander.”
Marissa’s stomach tightened as she wondered what those things were. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to know, but she couldn’t help but feel curious.
“Are you sure you want me to tell you?” Anderson asked, his tone hesitant. “It’s not a very pleasant story.”
Marissa swallowed hard. “Yes, I want to know.” she said, her voice firm.
Anderson took a deep breath.
“She slept with Jaime Fernado when she went on the last trip to Singapore and that was why Jaime used it to threaten him along with you and his contract marriage to threaten Alexander. He told Alex that he would reveal everything at the launch event if Alex doesn’t hand over the contract to him, but Alex didn’t and officially broke up with her and chose you.”
Marissa felt somehow and realized that this whole fight wasn’t over and that maybe the person who sent the necklace was Jaime declaring war against Alex and she feels that Alex might know too but didn’t tell her. But why?
Marissa felt a wave of nausea wash over her as she listened to Anderson’s story. She couldn’t believe that Jessie had been so reckless, and that her actions had hurt Alex so deeply. She couldn’t imagine what Alex must have been feeling when he found out about her betrayal. She wondered how he had been able to stay strong in the face of such pain.
Just then, Alex entered.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
