Luna Of The 117
DAYS HAD PASSED, and so far, nothing strange had happened yet. Helga was staying in the guest room near Riovanni's, where no one really disturbed her or approached her unless it was time for her to eat. All the food given to her was personally checked by Riovanni, ensuring his father was not tampering with it. Helga was glad that everything seemed fine. and she was well-protected, but at the same time, she couldn't help but feel anxious,Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
"Are you going to keep working here?" she asked, looking at him as he read documents on the sofa. It had been four days since she arrived, and it had also been four days since the Lycan King was working in her room instead of his office. She might not be stepping outside of the room and interacting with anyone aside from him, but she could tell that every member of his pack was already wondering why he kept working in her room instead of just assigning someone to watch and guard her.
"Yes," he replied simply, his gaze not leaving the documents in his hand. Helga pursed her lips and turned her attention to the window. For the past few days, all she did was read books or stare out the window to watch everyone outside. The view reminded her of all the memories she had shared in this place, and she couldn't help but reminisce. It was a mix of happiness and sadness, but it didn't stop her from recalling those times fondly,
"Did your father stop insisting on seeing me?" she asked, remembering the servant who mentioned the previous Lycan King wanting to see her. Fortunately, Riovanni came in and told the maid to be quiet and leave if she was done serving the food. He also warned her not to talk to Helga about his father as it would trigger her anxiety attacks. That was the lie he came up with after the doctor told him what happened the day, she examined Helga.
"Yeah, he's been quiet these days, which is kind of alarming. I don't know what exactly is going on in his mind." Riovanni placed the paper down on the table and turned to Helga, who was still lost in thought while staring out the window. Despite her efforts to maintain a healthy diet, she seemed to be losing weight every day. Perhaps it was due to her lack of appetite, whch could be a result of her pregnancy symptoms becoming more noticeable and intense. "Do you want to go outside for a walk! I'll escort you myself."
"No, I'm fine," she turned around and saw him standing up to approach her. Suddenly, the conversation they had the other day played in her mind. Day by day, their friendship was slowly being repaired as they spent more time together and talked every day. It might seem fast, but the changes in their relationship were becoming evident.
"It would be better if you could get some fresh air, even if it's just for a short while. Staying cooped up indoors all day without any sunlight is not healthy for you or the growing pup inside of you." he reasoned, causing Helga to pinch her bottom lip and consider his suggestion. She couldn't deny that he was right, especially when it's essential for her to look out for her health, and staying inside the room without doing anything good was probably not going to do any good for her health. "Don't worry, nothing's going to happen as long as I'm on your side."
Riovanni reassured her, and after some time of deliberation. Hetta finally relented and agreed to go for a walk with him. After all, she wanted to visit the wing palace where she spent most of her time and lived with the other pack members.
"All right, I'm just going to change my clothes," she said, and Riovanni nodded in response. As soon as she disappeared from his sight, he glanced at the window and glared at one particular warrior who seemed to be watching them. He then turned to the door when he heard a knock, and even though he wasn't opening it yet, he knew already that it was his beta.
"What?" he asked as soon as the door opened and saw Andi standing there. His beta's gaze flicked to his face, then quickly darted behind him as if he was searching for any sign of Helga nearby. Riovanni's brow furrowed in disapproval clearly catching onto his subordinate's sneaky behavior.
"She's changing her clothes," he said, causing his beta to flinch and return his attention to him.
"Huh?"Andi's jaw dropped in shock as she struggled to believe what he had just heard. "W-wait. My King... Don't tell me you..."
"Don't be ridiculous, it's not what you think," Riovanni let out a brustrated sigh, his hand instinctively reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose. Andi has always been a dependable beta for him, and although he was the closest pack member to him, Kiovanni couldn't bring himself to fully trust him. He couldn't put his finger on it, but there was something about Andi's presence that made him question his loyalty. The bond between alpha and beta was supposed to be unbreakable, but Chapter 117
Riovanni couldn't help feeling a sense of unease whenever he thought about their relationship.
We were going on a stroll, so she changed her clothes... Her physical condition was gradually declining, and I couldn't let her pass away just yet... I still need her." he explained, "Why are you here anyway? Did something happen?"
"One of our warriors noticed a suspicious figure near the palace borders. We apprehended him and had him detained in the dungeon. Would you like to conduct an interrogation? He is not an ordinary human; he appears to be a warlock." Andi explained, and Helga, who had just emerged from the bathroom heard everything he said loud and clear. Her heart started. beating faster at the mention of warlcok, and before she could even stop herself, she was already walking towards the door
to Riovanni's side.
"I'm ready," she interrupted, her gaze falling on Andi, whose brows twitched a little. He had been wary of her from the start, knowing that her beauty was only a small part of what made her dangerous. After all, she was the daughter of the previous Alpha King of Narva, a lineage known for its immense power and strength. The mere thought of what kind of abilities she possessed sent chills down his spine, especially after hearing rumors of her single-handedly taking down multiple rogues and bandits. She was a force to be reckoned with, and he couldn't afford to underestimate her.
"Did something happen?" Helga asked as she directed her gaze towards Riovanni, who immediately shook his head.
"Yeah, but it's nothing alarmning," he replied before looking at hus beta's observing gaze. He could tell he had another purpose for coming here, but that didn't matter as he had just thought of a plan. "I will deal with that later; you may go
"Yes. My King." With a reluctant bow, Andi turned to walk away. However, he couldn't help but steal one last glance at the pair, their closeness evident even from a distance. He knew they used to be friends but with the current state of affairs. Riovanni should have been wary of Helga's presence as a potential threat to the throne. His behavior these days was really concerning, and so, Andi made his way straight to the former Lycan King's bed chambers to report the unusual relationship between Helga and Riovanni...
