Luna of the Cursed Alpha King (Helga and Siegren)

Chapter 98

THE WIND WAS HOWLING outside as Siegren held Helga close, her body limp and asleep against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her, shielding her from the cold night air. They had been in the cave for a couple of hours now, and he knew that David and Lucian were on their way to pick them up, as he instructed using the mind link.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled, kissing the crown of her head. Siegren then let out a deep sigh and squeezed his eyes shut, desperately trying to hold back tears. How could he have been so foolish to knot her? He berated himself for allowing his negative emotions to take control and cloud his judgment. If only he had been stronger and able to resist the curse's influence, he could have avoided such a situation. The guilt of remembering how Helga passed out after the knotting was eating him alive. Despite her assurance that everything was alright before she drifted off to sleep, he knew deep down that what he had done would never be okay.

Tears welled up in his eyes as he gently bit his lip, holding her close as she slept soundly in his embrace. He loved her with all his heart, but at this moment, he couldn't help but feel unworthy of her. She deserved someone better, someone who was not cursed like him, someone who wouldn't drain the life out of her every full moon.

Helga deserved a partner who could give her a normal life, free from the weight of any burdens. She should be able to live happily without any heavy responsibilities, and Siegren knew that his love alone was not enough for her to have the life she truly deserved.

"Your Majesty?" David's voice reached Siegren's ear, causing him to glance outside where the dry leaves crunched under their feet. The flashlight they carried cast a beam of light into the dark cave.

"Turn that off! And close your eyes,” He commanded sternly through their telepathic link, causing David and Lucian to flinch before instantly following his orders. They turned off the flashlight and cautiously made their way towards the cave, keeping their eyes closed. As they came into view, Siegren looked at them, making sure they wouldn't catch sight of Helga's naked body. "Hand me the clothes."

David stepped forward; his hand outstretched to pass the clothes to Siegren. With gentle care, Siegren supported Helga against the wall before taking the garments and dressing himself. After that, he knelt down in front of Helga, gently draping the thick cloak around her delicate frame. He then pulled the hood over her head before lifting her effortlessly into his arms, carrying her as if she were as fragile as glass.

"Have you seen the dead wolves who dared attack my wife?” he spoke with a cold tone, causing both his beta and gamma to snap their eyes open. They were surprised to see just how tired their friend looked. Perhaps it was the lingering effects of the curse, but they knew that his exhaustion was more from emotional strain than physical weariness. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

After all, today had been filled with terrible events. Not only did he learn that he was draining Helga's life force, and they had a heated argument, but she was also attacked. And to top it all off, tonight was a full moon.

"Yes. We confirmed their identities, they were warriors from the Silver Pack." Lucian answered, watching Siegren walk past them while carrying the Queen in his arms, her long vibrant red hair swayed gracefully with his every step.

For some reason, a shiver ran down the spines of the gamma and beta, their bodies reacting instinctually to the menacing gaze of the Alpha King. The glint of bloodlust in his eyes confirmed their fears-the curse had not worn off yet, and this realization sent alarm bells ringing through their minds.

"I will command the royal guards to search for the Alpha and Beta of the Silver pack-"

"No, I will find them myself." Siegren cut David's sentence short, stopping in his tracks. He then gazed at the full moon above and gritted his teeth as a burning sensation coursed through his body, his veins yearning for blood. "Let's go back to the palace first. I need to make sure my wife's safe.”

Lucian and David's faces filled with concern as they exchanged worried glances. They knew all too well the potential danger of letting their friend, Siegren, loose to search for the first and second-in-command of Silver Pack alone. The air around Siegren seemed to pulsate with a familiar, ominous energy that brought back vivid memories for both of them—the night he had succumbed to the curse and slaughtered an entire pack single-handedly.

The thought of history repeating itself made their throats tighten and their hearts race.

"I think it would be wise if you let us take care of this situation." David spoke up as they trailed behind the Alpha King, "The Queen needs you by her side, so you should stay and-" "Are you ordering me around?" The tone in Siegren's voice carried a sense of danger, causing his friends to freeze in their tracks.

They were all too familiar with how intense he could become when provoked. David and Lucian exchanged uneasy glances, it had been quite some time since they had witnessed his anger firsthand and the memory still sent shivers down their spines. But they knew better than to back down, especially when they were both aware of how things could go wrong when they didn't do anything to stop him.

"Pull yourself together, do you want to keep disappointing your wife?" Lucian snapped, the sharp edge of his voice cutting through the cold night air. Siegren stopped in his tracks again, turning his head to glare at the gamma with his red eyes glowing.

As if in response to their tense exchange, the wind picked up, howling through the trees and causing them to sway and rustle violently. The moonlight filtered through the branches, casting eerie shadows on the ground as Siegren's anger simmered just beneath the surface.

"What?" His dark brows furrowed into a deep scowl, his lips curling into a snarl that made David's heart race. He knew that if he didn't intervene now, this argument could escalate into something violent and destructive. As the commanding general, Lucian had always been strict in his sense of duty, especially in the face of danger. Siegren, on the other hand, was not

in a rational state and ould potentially harm those he cared for in a fit of anger. Both men were on edge, and David couldn't risk letting their argument spiral out of control. It could only lead to disaster...

"Siegren, it's the night of the full moon. You've already made one mistake today, don't make another that you'll regret later on." David added, his voice laced with calculated intent. He knew pushing Siegren's guilt button was a surefire way to get him to calm down. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt himself for using such a tactic, knowing how wounded and vulnerable Siegren must be feeling. But sometimes it took a sharp sting to snap the Alpha King back to reality, and David was willing to do whatever it took to make him see reason. "I'm not giving you orders; I am speaking to you as your friend. Please return to the palace before the curse retakes its full effect.”

Siegren's finger twitched, and his attention snapped to Helga as soon as he felt her stir. His previously angry expression transformed into one of concern, and he immediately calmed down, his demeanor shifting to a worried one.

"Hmm, when did I fall asleep?" she asked as she rubbed her eyes slowly, totally unaware of what was going on around her before she woke up.

"Just an hour ago." Siegren answered, "We're going back to the palace, you can sleep more."

"What about the curse? Are you still in pain?" Helga's hand trembled as it moved towards his cheek. She realized that he was fully dressed, while she was wrapped in a cloak, cradled in his arms. But her attention was fixated on Siegren's eyes, which betrayed worry and guilt.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me." He attempted to reassure her, but he couldn't bring himself to look into her eyes. He carried the guilt of knowing that she would have a shortened life span because of him tonight, and the weight of having knotted her without her consent.

He pressed his lips together and started to walk, taking slow and deliberate steps so as not to make her feel uncomfortable in his arms. Meanwhile, David and Lucian let out a collective sigh of relief and trailed behind, both grateful that Helga had regained consciousness before things took for the worst.
