Chapter 31
“Dom, believe me, I didn’t push her!”
Lola had a dream. In the dream, she was on the ground and repeatedly told Dominick that she hadn’t pushed Jessica. However, he just looked down at Lola without saying a word. Suddenly remembering something, she grabbed Dominick’s hand and placed it on her stomach, telling him she was
pregnant.
Lola said, “Dom, feel this. The baby is moving!”
Dominick then suddenly withdrew his hand that was on her stomach. Lola was startled and looked up, only to meet a pair of cold and heartless eyes.
He said, “Lola, the baby is gone!”
A thought then flashed through Lola’s mind, and she stared down at her abdomen in disbelief. Her once bulging belly was now flat. Lola reached out and gently touched her stomach, which had previously shown signs of life but was now eerily still. Lola shook her head in disbelief, thinking it couldn’t be possible.
She looked at Dominick in front of her, panicking “Dom, the baby isn’t moving anymore. Please, save the baby! The baby is not movingTM”
Just then, she heard a familiar voice, not as cold and heartless as in the dream.
Lola slowly opened her eyes to see a pair of worried and slightly pained eyes looking back at her. The person’s lips were tightly pressed together, a bandage wrapped around his neck with visible
bloodstains. She then found that she was no longer on the yacht but in a moving vehicle.
Instead of sitting in a seat, she was being held in Dominick’s arms.
“Lola!” Dominick called out again, Ho originally wanted to wipe the tears from her face, but as he reached out, she coldly tumed her head away.
She sternly said, “Don’t touch me!”
Dominick’s hand froze in mid–air, and after a few seconds, he reluctantly withdrew it
They had arrived at a small town, on a street lined with robust cherry blossom trees whose branches covered the street completely. The ground was covered with a thick layer of pink petals, and a breeze caused petals to dance in the air, carrying a pleasant floral scent.
The street was filled with tourists taking photos.
After the car stopped, Dominick got out first and was about to turn around to lift Lola out. However, she had already opened the door from the other side and got out. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

Dominick walked over with a long white coat in one hand and a pair of white embroidered shoes in the other. Upon hearing Lola’s question, he explained, “This place is called Cherry Blossom Town, and it’s currently the season of cherry blossom blooming. You’ve been on the island all this time,

“I’m not interested. You can enjoy them by yourse, Mr. Sinclair! Lola interrupted him and turned to head back to the vehicle, However, she had only taken a step when her wrist was grasped.
Dominick said, “Lola, there’s a church not far ahead. I want to set up a candleholder for our child.”
Upon hearing that, Lola paused and slowly turned around.
She then saw Dominick looking at her pleadingly with his deep eyes. For a moment, Lola seemingly saw his eyes glistened with tears, but in a second, he
looked away, and she thought she must have been mistaken.
He helped Lola put on the coat and crouched down in front of her with the shoes
Whether it was the men in black standing nearby or
y or the tourists taking photos on the street, all eyes suddenly focused on Dominick and Lola.
Lola was dressed in a long white dress and had a long white coat embroidered with three– dimensional butterflies. Her expression is cool and calm yet tinged with a hint of chill. Meanwhile, Dominick was clad in an elegant suit and holding a pair of white embroidered shoes while crouching on the ground to slip them onto Lola’s feet.
Just then, a gentle
breeze blew, scattering pink petals from the sky
ky onto their shoulders.
Lola looked at Dominick, who was crouching before her, for a long time before finally extending her foot.
As they walked through the thick layer of pink petals, it felt like walking through a sea of flowers, with the air filled with a faint floral fragrance. Occasionally, petals would fall from the trees with the breeze. Lola walked ahead, with Dominick by her side, while the rest of the men in black followed
at a distance.
Soon after, they saw ancient stone pillars and a magnificent wrought iron gate adorned with complex patterns and reliefs, signifying the solemnity and sanctity of the church. Above the gate hung a large plaque with the words “Blessed Hope Cathedral” in an elegant font.
From a distance, the entrance seemed to lead to an endless flight of steps.
Upon seeing that Lola was about to approach the steps, Dominick caught her. “Lola, your foot is injured. Let me carry you up!”
Before she could respond, one of the men in black quickly interjected, “Mr. Sinclair, there are a total of 1,008 steps here. We have prepared a stretcher.”
“No need!” Lola coldly shook off Dominick and climbed the first step.
ther by her side, while The intricately carved steps were steep, and with each step, Lola’s foot wound throbbed. She led the way, with Dominick protecting h the others followed behind them. At that moment, the sun beamed down from the sky, bringing warmth, and soon, a thin layer of sweat formed on Lola’s
forehead.
At first, she managed just well, but her pace slowed as her strength waned.
The wound on Lola’s foot worsened from the prolonged walking, causing fresh blood to seep through the bandage.
Dominick wanted to persuade her several times, but after seeing her cold expression, he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue. Instead, he stayed by Lola’s side, guarding her carefully.
Soon, Lola’s face turned pale, and the blood from her foot had gushed out even more. It not only seeped through the bandage wrapped around her foot but even stained the white embroidered canvas shoes she was wearing, turning them a glaring red. However, Lola merely glanced at them and paid no
attention.
By the time they had ascended all the 1,008 steps, more than an hour had passed.
Just then, the solemn tolling of the distant bell echoed through the air, inexplicably bringing a tranquil calmness. The ancient stone gate stood open, allowing a clear view of the faithful worshippers coming and going. There were also cherry blossoms peeked out from the towering walls, climbing along the courtyard and observing the bustling scene outside.
As they approached, they were greeted by an elderly man in his sixties, who was wearing a priest’s robe and was accompanied by a church apprentice, coming out from the entrance.
“When I heard the birds sang this morning, I thought we would have esteemed visitors. I never imagined it would be you, Mr. Sinclair, Bryce Murphy said while holding a rosary in one hand and greeting Dominick with a slight nod
“Father Murphy, nice to meet you!” Dominick greeted him and said, “My wife and I are here today to set up a candleholder engraved with the name of my deceased son.”
Bryce nodded and slowly looked over at Lola with his clear eyes. After a moment, his fingers paused as if he wanted to say something but ultimately, he simply nodded at Lola
He said, “Mr. Sinclair, Miss, please come inside!”
Bryce and Dominick led the way, with Lola following behind, pondering the look Bryce had given her.
