Dominick’s ability to expand his business so successfully and assertively stemmed from his unique insights.
Some in the crowd began to focus their attention on the Lewis Group.
“Ms. Lewis, could you consider collaborating with my company? Our industries complement each other perfectly and cooperation would be beneficial for both parties.”
Lola was caught off guard, and her thoughts momentarily halted as she processed the implications. She turned her gaze toward Dominick,
Dominick simply smiled faintly, choosing not to say anything. He gave her a meaningful look, seemingly prompting her to consider the matter herself,
“Mr. Bates, what you’re saying isn’t quite accurate. If we’re talking about the most suitable partner for the Lewis Group’s current projects, it’s undoubtedly my company.”
The voice sounded familiar! Lola searched for the owner of the voice, finding a somewhat plump middle–aged man with an unremarkable appearance. However, he did seem pretty well–off though.
Didn’t that voice belong to one of the people who called her today?
Finally recognizing the voice, Lola recalled the man’s urgent call earlier, where he was desperate to distance himself from any trouble her company faced. He even threatened to use legal action to deal with them if they didn’t resolve the issue within a day!
“Are you…Mr. Kellis?” Lola asked with uncertainty.
Arnold smiled somewhat sheepishly, “Ms. Lewis, what an excellent memory you have. I didn’t expect you to recognize me just from my voice.”
“But earlier today, when you called…” Lola began, puzzled.
Surrounded by so many onlookers, Arnold couldn’t risk losing his pride. However, remembering Dominick’s earlier remarks, he managed to maintain a pleasant demeanor.
“When I called earlier, I had just woken up, and I wasn’t in the best mood. I may have spoken harchlu –
forgive me, Ms. Lewis. You can rest assured that our cooperation will continue, and I won’t resort to any legal actions or demand any penalties for the breach of contract.
“I hope you can overlook my earlier words, Ms. Lewis and not let them affect our partnership. I hope we can still be great business partners to each other in the future.”
Another man in his forties with a protruding belly approached. “Um, Ms. Lewis, I share Mr. Kellis‘ sentiments. I may have been a bit offensive in my speech today. I apologize sincerely and hope it won’t affect the cooperation
between our companies!”
Lola also remembered that voice, recalling how the man had made some sleazy remarks back then! NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
“Are you Mr. Bates?”
Daniel scratched his head. “Ms. Lewis, you indeed have an excellent memory. I must admit I was a bit presumptuous today!
“I don’t know what came over me. I had a momentary lapse of judgment, acted like a fool, and said some truly inappropriate things! I was completely out of line!”
“I hope you can overlook my previous behavior, Ms. Lewis. Let’s focus on our cooperation, as this project is bound to be profitable!”
Seeing both experienced CEOs speak in such a manner, the other attendees understood that the Lewis Group was indeed worth collaborating with.
“Ms. Lewis, our companies haven’t worked together yet, but feel free to learn more about my company. If you’re interested in a collaboration, don’t hesitate to contact me.”
“Likewise, although we can’t collaborate with the Leroy Group, the companies chosen by the Leroy Group for cooperation must be exceptional. If you decide to collaborate with us, I assure you, we will demonstrate our utmost sincerity.”
The atmosphere swiftly transformed from one of gossip to one of respect and flattery toward Lola.
Lola was still somewhat stunned. She hadn’t expected Dominick to so easily turn the situation around with just a few casual remarks.
“Thank you
for
your kind words. If there’s a suitable opportunity for collaboration, I’ll definitely consider it.”
The party wasn’t over yet, but Lola stepped outside, standing in the cool night breeze.
The chilly wind tousled her hair, gradually awakening her senses.
Reflecting on it now, she believed Dominick bringing her to the banquet wasn’t merely about making their

attendance known. It seemed his intentions went beyond surface appearances.
It turned out he wanted to draw more people over and then clarify their relationship in front of a larger audience while affirming her status.
Dominick really did deliver on his promises. In doing so, he naturally diffused the crisis facing her company.
It suddenly dawned on Lola that she had misunderstood him.
She couldn’t quite articulate her feelings. She felt strange and conflicted. All of a sudden, she felt confused about her perception of Dominick.
Recalling the harsh words she had said earlier, she felt ashamed.
“A penny for your thoughts?” A low, melodious voice came from behind her.
Lola was slightly taken aback and turned to look at him.
A gentle breeze blew, causing strands of Dominick’s hair to sporadically cover his eyes and forehead as they danced in the wind.
A slight sense of strangeness flitted through Lola’s mind, but it wasn’t prominent enough for her to dwell on.
“Little boss, do you think I have ulterior motives this time?” Dominick teased deliberately.
Lola pressed her lips together and lowered her gaze. “So…is today’s matter considered resolved? Next time, you can tell me about things like this beforehand to avoid misunderstandings, you know?”
Dominick looked at her with interest. “But if I did, I wouldn’t get to see the angry look on your face when you’re mad at me.”
Lola was briefly stunned. How could he have such an unreasonable desire?
“Now that today’s matter is resolved, can I leave? It’s getting late,” Lola asked.
Dominick’s eyes flickered briefly to his watch, catching the time. “It’s still early,” he remarked, his tone carrying a hint of amusement. “You’ve only just basked in the limelight, Ms. Mitchell. Departing
so swiftly suggests a certain deficiency in social finesse on your part.”
‘Here he goes again,‘ Lola thought. Just when she thought Dominick had changed for the better, he reverted to his old, frivolous self!
“So, Mr. Sinclair, do you have any further orders for me?” Lola inquired.
“Just now, your role was my business partner. Now, if you accompany me inside, you’ll be my date,” Dominick said.
Lola frowned in refusal. “No, that’s not possible. How can I be your date? I’m not your girlfriend! And I feel we need
to establish clear boundaries between us too.”
Dominick, observing Lola’s serious expression, found it somewhat amusing.
“Who told you that a date must necessarily be one’s girlfriend?”
“Alright, let’s go,” he continued, ignoring Lola’s objections as he led her back inside.
“Let go of me, I can walk by myself,” Lola insisted, pulling her hand away.
The banquet was already in full swing, with people enthusiastically dancing on the dance floor, the atmosphere energized by everyone’s excitement.
Lola, not particularly fond of crowds, opted to settle down not far from Dominick.
Despite the constant stream of people approaching Dominick to curry favors, he didn’t give them much opportunity, owing to his personality.
“Mr. Sinclair, it’s been a while.”
