Gwain knew when to back down. After Santiago kicked him hard enough to
leave his arm tingling, he realized it was best not to push his luck. Witnessing
the internal strength Santiago wielded made him rethink any plans to fight.
Wyatt agreed it was the right call. Even if they teamed up, they might still
lose. Even if they somehow managed to pull off a victory, it would take an
exhausting number of moves. The last thing they wanted was for things to
spiral out of control. Isabella and the rest could show up at any moment, and
their captive, Roselynn, was their weakest link.
As Gwain was about to stroll away with a nonchalant comment, Shane
interjected, “Master, they’ve held Roselynn captive and even made an
attempt on my life! We can’t just let them leave. If you walk away now, they’ll
absolutely return for her!”
Shane had surprisingly nailed it. Gwain couldn’t risk losing the Dragon Tome,
especially after meeting so many equally skilled fighters lately. He needed to
get a grip on the Dragon Tome to come out on top.

“Did I say you could go?” Santiago’s voice rang out, stopping Gwain in his
tracks.
Gwain was set on getting out of there. He might slip away, but Wyatt, who
was helping the injured Hank, might not. So, he turned back with a frosty
glare but kept his tone polite. “Sir, do you have any final thoughts?”
Santiago shot back, “Are you really Gwain Lannister? Aren’t you and the Wolf
Warrior supposed to be the best in the world? Why do you want to run away
just because I rattled you? You’re way below the Wolf Warrior!”
He wasn’t wrong. Santiago had gone head–to–head with Emmanuel at Peach
Blossom House; while neither had gone all out, Emmanuel had held his own.
Yet Gwain didn’t even have the guts to challenge Santiago, obviously
showing who the real master was.
Santiago’s remark about being inferior to the Wolf Warrior fueled Gwain’s
anger. He spun around, fury in his eyes. “Sir! You should watch what you say!
I’m on my way to see Maestro Moretti–not because I’m afraid of you!”

Santiago burst into laughter. “Oh really? Visiting Maestro Moretti? She invited
me here today, so there’s no way she has time for you. That’s a pretty flimsy
excuse!”
Another dig! Gwain’s anger flared even higher. He thought, This irritating old
man says I’m not as good as the Wolf Warrior, and now he’s brushing me off
thoroughly. I need to show everyone I’m not to be underestimated!
“Show me what you’ve got!” Gwain declared, drawing his sword.
Hank and Wyatt exchanged astonished glances. They thought, Mr. Gwain
didn’t even draw his sword against the top fighter under the chairman of the
Chamber of Commerce, let alone the genius Xarri! It’s clear how much he
fears this old man!
“Step back! Let me take on this so–called best in the world!” Santiago
ordered, and Shane briefly dragged Roselynn out of harm’s way.
Hank was wounded, and Wyatt wasn’t the type to resort to dirty tricks like the
Great Four Envoys. He remained on the sidelines, quietly observing the

impending clash.
With a casual flick, Santiago sent a hip flask sailing toward Gwain.

Gwain tried to slice it with his Noble Sword, a weapon famed enough to be on
the Hundred Tools list, but he was shocked to find it couldn’t even cut through
the regular hip flask.
As the two immense energies clashed, the hip flask ricocheted back into
Santiago’s hands. Gwain swiftly performed a backflip, landing smoothly on
his feet. Then he launched into a move called Surge Slash, unleashing a
dazzling flurry of twelve sword strikes in a breathtaking display.
“Looks like you’re finally catching on!” Santiago’s voice echoed, but then he
vanished.
Noticing that Gwain had lost sight of Santiago, Hank exclaimed, “Mr. Gwain,
he’s down on the ground!”
Gwain hastily glanced down, and Santiago was sprawled out, moving like a
