Chapter 11 Humiliation
Chapter 11 Humiliation
"I'm sorry Atlas. The seats have all been taken, Why don't you sit on the stool out there?" Jessie Cho
said with a wicked smile.
The stool at the door was not for guests to sit. There were some unuseful things on it.
Besides, Atlas would sit lower than everybody else if he sat on the low stool.
Jessie was humiliating Atlas.
Atlas looked at him with an indifferent expression.
In Viviana's previous life, Jessie introduced a man to her, but the matchmaking failed because of Atlas.
The guy introduced to Viviana was very rich, and he must have promised Jessie a lot of benefits.
However, Viviana turned to marry Atlas at last. Jessie didn't get any benefits, so he wanted to take it
out on Atlas now.
That was why he humiliate Atlas as long as he had a chance.
The room was suddenly quiet. Everyone stopped talking and looked at Atlas.
Flynn was comparatively the righteous one. He didn't want to see Atlas getting humiliated. With his
brows furrowed, he said, "Jessie, this isn't right."
As soon as he said that, his wife hurriedly pinched Flynn on his thigh. Flynn's face twisted in pain.
Tammy looked at Flynn and muttered, "Dad, don't be so nosy."
Flynn signed and stopped talking.
Giorgio was wearing a cold face. Obviously, he had no intention to get involved.
Tammy looked at Atlas with a gloating sneer on her face.
Viviana stole a glanced at Atlas and then lowered her head to look at her phone. She couldn't care less
about her cowardly husband.
Other relatives all knew Atlas as an orphan adopted by Giorgio, and they heard that Atlas was a good-
for-nothing. Now that Jessie was targeting Atlas, they wouldn't mind adding fuel to the fire.
They were standing by and waiting to see a good show. They wanted to see Atlas get humiliated.
"Clap!"
Francis smacked her chopsticks on the table, staring at Jessie's smug face. Then she asked, "Jessie,
do you still respect me as your big sister?"
Francis was candid and upright. Unlike other women, she was highly respected in this family, which
now made her the only one that Jessie would listen to.
"Sis, what's that supposed to mean? Are you saying that I'm not respecting you?" Jessie asked,
pretending that he didn't understand.
"Atlas is my son-in-law. I raised him since he was a kid, treating him like my own son. How dare you
treat him like this?" Francis asked with an angry face.
Jessie would never admit that he had targeted Atlas. He grinned a cheeky smile and replied, "All seats
had been taken here. I didn't mean to ask him to go out!"
With a cold face, Francis stood and walked to Atlas. She pulled him to her seat. "Sit here, Atlas. I'll sit
on the stool."
Giorgio frowned. He would lose his face if Francis sat on that stool.
Giorgio yelled, "What's this about? Jessie invites you for a meal, and you insisted on sitting at the
door? Where's your manner?"
"Yes, sis. Stop making a scene. You've passed the age of throwing tantrums." Sharon chimed in.
"I know you all look down on Atlas, but I'm telling you now that I treat him as my son. I'll stand up for
him to whoever bullies him!" Francis had even decided to break up with these relatives for the sake of
Atlas.
Atlas felt warm. He knew Francis treated him nicely in his last life, but he didn't know how nice she
was.
Now he knew.
Francis would break up with her family for her. She cherished Atlas more than her own!
Seeing Francis' firm attitude, Jessie gave up his vengeance on Atlas. After all, today was his big day,
and he didn't want any unpleasantness.
"Don't worry, sis. I'll ask the waiter to get one more chair."
Francis looked at him coldly. She didn't move, because she wouldn't believe in him.
Jessie hurriedly opened the door and yelled, "Waiter, one more chair here, please."
The chair was delivered. Francis pulled Atlas over to sit next to her.
Although Jessie had stopped humiliating Atlas, the resentment in his eye was growing.
Other relatives were ignoring Atlas, too. Nobody talked to Atlas except for Francis.
She kept comforting Atlas and chatting with him, so that he wouldn't feel humiliated.
Atlas actually couldn't care less. The humiliation wasn't enough to provoke him, because he had
cultivated for more than 800 years.
Besides, almost everyone at the table was a member of this family. Francis would feel bad if he took it
out on someone.
"Come on, let's finish a glass first, and then I have good news for you!" Jessie said as he stood up, with
a glass of wine in his hand.
"What is it? What made you so generous today?" A friend of Jessie asked knowingly.
"Drink this up first!" Jessie put on a mysterious smile.
Everyone then had a drink. Jessie glanced at all of them when he put down his glass. He looked so
smug.
"I am now the head of the HR Department of Ronald Group!"
After Jessie finished speaking, the room fell in silence.
"Head of the HR Department! That means whoever gets to work in the Ronald Group will need your
permission first!" One of Jessie's friends said shockingly.
"Of course, that's what they hired me for!" Jessie nodded triumphantly.
Flynn asked, "Can you get other people into the group then?"
Jessie nodded. "We need approval from the upper management if it's a critical position , but lower This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
positions should be no problem for me."
All the friends and relatives got so excited when they heard that.
Many people in Lanceham would kill for a job in the Ronald Group. The salary of a cleaner there was
higher than white-collar workers in other companies.
Jessie bought a car and a house just two years after he worked there. He showed that off to other
people whenever they met. Many people felt jealous.
Those people wanted to work in the Ronald Group, too. They had asked Jessie for help, but that didn't
work. Now that Jessie is the new director of the HR Department, they finally saw the hope of getting
into the Ronald Group.
"Jessie, this is for you! Don't forget me if the Ronald Group needs new blood!" A friend of Jessie stood
up and proposed.
"Jessie, I've helped you a lot every time you fought with other people in college. Now that your career's
taking off, don't forget your bro here." The man was Jessie's college buddy, a hefty guy, full of cunning
tricks.
"And me! Don't forget me!"
Those people stood up and flattered him one after another.
Jessie's parents smiled from ear to ear, praising him for being high and mighty now.
Their eldest son, Flynn, felt a bit jealous. He was the big brother, but Jessie became the real backbone
of this family.
Flynn also wanted to join the Ronald Group, but he didn't want to suck up to Jessie. Moreover, he tried
to stop Jessie from humiliating Atlas just now. Jessie might be mad at him.
Seeing that Flynn not doing anything, Sharon pinched his thigh under the table again. Flynn gritted his
teeth and gulped the scream back.
"Jessie, your big brother needs your help to get a chance in there!" Finally, Flynn gave in to his wife's
ruthless pinch.
Jessie put on a smirky face and replied, "You told me last time that your current company valued you a
lot. Why are you thinking of job-hopping?"
Flynn didn't look well. He bragged about that to save his face. No one would take it seriously.
Jessie was knowingly embarrassing him.
"The Roland Group is too shallow a pond for a big shark like you." Jessie turned him down
diplomatically.
Flynn had seen that coming, but his wife couldn't accept it. She scolded Flynn for being such a loser.
Just by then, a waitress knocked on the door and ran in hurriedly.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Cho. I made a mistake. The Dragon & Phoneix Hall has been booked earlier. Could we
change a place for you?" The waiter was almost begging.
