Chapter 0071
Miranda was aware of how concerned Christine was about her and her studies. She reassured the latter, saying, “Don’t worry. I won’t let you down.”
After returning home, Miranda started looking through the materials she’d brought back with her.
Compared to the textbooks she’d studied for the admissions exam, these materials contained actual experimental methods and research findings.
It required readers to have a certain amount of experience in conducting experiments. Thus, it was relatively harder for an ordinary person with no experience to understand their contents.
Miranda was so focused on reading that she completely lost track of time. It was almost midnight by the time she stopped.
She rubbed her tired eyes and decided to turn in for the night. She’d just laid down in the bed when the loud sounds of someone pounding on the door came from outside.
“Miranda… Open the door! I know you’re in there!”
Even though they were separated by two more doors, one to the living room and one, to her bedroom, Hansel’s voice reached Miranda’s ears clearly nonetheless.
The pounding sound grew louder.
Miranda’s lips grew pale when she recalled how Hansel had tried to force himself on her last time. She gripped her blanket tightly.
“Miranda… Open the door! Mimi…‘
Miranda covered her ears, hoping Hansel would give up and go away if he didn’t get any response.
However, he continued pounding at the door even after five minutes. It sounded like he’d keep doing this until someone opened the door.
The building Miranda was staying at had poor soundproofing. Hansel would surely get berated for causing a ruckus in the middle of the night.
As expected, she heard people complaining soon.

“Who the heck is making so much noise at this ungodly hour? How are we going to Sleep like this?
“A mad dog is barking here nonstop!”
“If you don’t fucking leave now, I’ll call the police!”
Miranda had no choice but to get out of bed and head to the front door in her
slippers “Hansel Johnson, are you out of your mind?” Miranda asked through gritted teeth.
“I knew you were in there.”
“So?”
“Open the door and let me in.”
“Why should I? Who do you think you are? Do I have to let you in just because you
say you want me to?”
Hansel curled his lips. “Fine. I’ll keep knocking on the door, then.”
“Why you!”
“I’m knocking now-”
Miranda had no choice but to open the door.
Worried that Miranda would change her mind and close the door again, Hansel swiftly pushed the door open.
The stench of alcohol wafted from his body. His cheeks were red, and he was swaying so much that he looked like he’d fall at any moment.
Miranda furrowed her brows and backed away from him warily. “What do you want?”
Hansel stared silently at her with his dark, unfocused eyes. Suddenly, he said softly, Mimi, come back…”
Miranda shook her head and pulled her jacket tighter to her body. “You know that’s impossible.”
“It’s been six months. Is it still not enough?”
“Hansel, I’m not playing around with you. Do you understand?”
“I don’t… What do you want? Tell me! Do you want an apology? Do you want me to
repent? Should I get on my knees?”
This was the lowest he could get and the most he could do to show he’d yielded.
They’d fought countless times in the past. However, Hansel had never done. something like this before. Still, Miranda shook her head. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“Enough! You’re being too much!” Hansel bellowed, panting. “You’ve let me in. Doesn’t that mean there’s still a chance for us to fix this? Just tell me your conditions! Say it!”
He clenched his jaw. He couldn’t understand what else Miranda wanted when he was willing to lower himself to this extent.
Miranda replied, “I let you in because I didn’t want you to disturb others. It’s as simple as that. As you’d said, we should end amicably and have a clean break. So, what are you doing now?”
Hansel took a few steps forward and tried to grab onto Miranda’s shoulders.
However, she shrank away fearfully. Her eyes widened in horror. “Don’t touch me!”
