Chapter 19 Colbert Knows the Truth
"Yeah, go out with him," Mildred said and nodded.
"So you promised me?"
With a sunny smile on, Chasel stood up and took out the pendant from the brocade box. "Come on. I'll
help you put it on."
Chasel stood in front of Eudora after he got up. Eudora frowned and whispered, "It's enough."
Chasel raised his eyebrows at her and said, "I need to finish what I started."
He untied the pendant, approached Eudora, and put it on for her in a posture of embracing her.
Even though it was an act, the intimacy made Eudora blush and her heart beat.
The nurses at the door cheered even more excitedly.
"It's so touching."
"If I did another job, I might be free for a relationship."
"Give her a kiss."
"Yeah. Kiss her."
"Hahaha..."
The nurses watched the fun while taking videos and cheering.
Immediately, Eudora was speechless. She could do nothing with those nurses.
Eudora sighed.
Chasel tilted his head to look at the nurses at the door, smiled, and then kissed Eudora's cheek.
"Wow. That's so lovely."
"I'm so envious."
"I want a dozen of such boyfriends."
"Let's get back to work, or the head nurse will curse us."
Several nurses grinned at Eudora and left.
However, Eudora stood stiffly, glaring at Chasel.
She seemed to say, "Chasel, damn it. Didn't we agree that we would just act? You took advantage of
me!"
Chasel smiled and ignored that.
On the contrary, Mildred was in a very good mood. She repeatedly told Eudora, "Eudora, Chasel is so
kind to you. You should be nice to him."
"Okay. I see, Mom," Eudora said and nodded.
When she tilted her head to look at Chasel, she said in a voice that only Chasel and her could hear,
"Chasel, you are dead."
Although Eudora and Chasel were acting, Mildred was pleased at noon today. She even finished all the
food brought by Eudora and never mentioned the matter of being discharged again.
After Mildred finished her lunch, Eudora and Chasel left the ward.
Mildred sent the two of them into the elevator and said, "Chasel, drive safe."
"Okay, Mrs. Stanford," Chasel replied politely, with his arms around Eudora's shoulders.
"Don't bring anything next time you come. Remember?"
"Understood, Mrs. Stanford. Please go back and have a rest."
"Well, then I'll go to see Eudora's father."
Then, Mildred turned and left.
Eudora was speechless.
What the hell?
Mildred just ignored her?
Bing!
The elevator doors closed.
Eudora changed her face instantly, took Chasel's hand off her shoulders, and kicked him. "Chasel, do
you have a death wish? I asked you to pretend to be my boyfriend, not to take advantage of me."
"Hiss..."
Chasel rubbed his leg in pain and said, "If you break my leg, you will have to support me for the rest of
your life. Besides, it was just an act. Why do you care so much?"
"Then why did you kiss me?"
"The scene called for it. What else could I do?"
"You... Bastard."
Eudora was furious. She didn't bother talking to Chasel and was about to take off the pendant, but
Chasel stopped her. "If you take it off now, your mother will doubt it tomorrow," he said.
"But it's too expensive."
"I bought it at a street stall on the way here. It only cost 23 dollars. If you feel uncomfortable, order
more fancy dishes at night."
"I see. Okay."
Eudora believed in Chasel's words and didn't think much about it.
The two stepped out of the elevator and passed the lobby of the inpatient department. At this moment,
a group of doctors and nurses came in the opposite direction, with Colbert and Corey in front like stars.
When Eudora saw Colbert, Colbert was also looking at her, and finally, his eyes fell on Chasel.
Chasel put his arms around Eudora's shoulders, talking and laughing.
Colbert's calm face suddenly surged with waves, but he hid all his emotions perfectly in an instant.
Eudora and Colbert passed each other, and neither of them spoke to the other.
And Chasel looked at Eudora the whole time, chatting with her, and didn't notice Colbert.
After walking out of the inpatient department, Chasel left. When Eudora was about to go back by e-
bike, her phone rang.
She took it out and saw it was from Colbert.
She answered it, frowned, and said with a hostile attitude, "Mr. Steele, what's the matter?"
"Come to your father's ward within five minutes. Otherwise, I will let the expert team leave
immediately."
"Huh? Oh. Okay. Okay. I'll be right there."
As soon as she heard the expert team had come, Eudora suddenly remembered the doctors and
nurses following Colbert just now and immediately ran back with her mobile phone.
At this time, the experts were discussing Ansel's condition in the office, and Colbert walked out of the
office and walked towards Ansel's ward. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
When passing by the nurse's station, several nurses were chatting about the scene just now.
"Why is Eudora so lucky? She looks average, yet such a handsome guy confessed to her."
"No kidding. Eudora is so ugly. It's lucky for her if someone likes her. A handsome guy confessed to
her? I doubt that."
"It's true. We all saw it and even took videos."
"Let me see."
Colbert overheard several nurses chatting, so he deliberately slowed down, and as a result, he heard
their conversation.
He understood the thought of Chasel, who was with Eudora just now.
"My God. He is so handsome."
"Yeah. He knelt down on one knee to confess and give her a necklace. I wish my boyfriend would
propose like this."
"So charming."
Several nurses kept gossiping and didn't notice Colbert passing by.
Originally, Colbert had found an expert team for Eudora's father, but now it seemed longer necessary.
Colbert walked into the elevator with a gloomy face and called Corey, "Tell the expert team that they
can leave."
"Mr. Steele, what's wrong?"
Before Corey could get his answer, Colbert hung up the phone.
Angry, Colbert took the elevator to the first floor.
When the elevator door opened, Eudora stood outside the elevator, panting.
"Why did you come down? Didn't you say that an expert team was invited for my Dad? Are they up
there?" Eudora asked Colbert.
Then, she said, "I'll go up and have a look."
Colbert stood upright with his hands in the pockets and glanced coldly at the new pendant on Eudora's
neck. It was shining, particularly dazzling under the light of the elevator.
"No need. I have already asked the expert team to leave."
He bypassed Eudora and strode away.
Eudora was confused. She immediately looked at the time and said, "I've only spent two minutes, and it
hasn't been five minutes. How can you not keep your words?"
