Chapter 53
ELEIA’S POV

It was a perfect day with Rosie and Felix , we made pancakes , ate them , watched movies , laughed , played boardgames and went for a little walk down to the snack store , all the while we were in peace because Stefan and Aiden was away two towns over for a meeting that I don’t know anything about .
Most wolves have their own running company , people don’t always know who invented it because they don’t know us . We barely do public speaking and we wolves hire CEO’s to run it while we mostly do nothing .
Aiden has his own company too and he’s been having meetings with the CEO two towns over because he does not want to let the man know where he is from or what he actually is .
I bet more than half of the big company’s are owned by alpha’s , we don’t really brag , but we are smarter than humans.
It’s late in the afternoon when Aiden comes barging into the house , slamming the door and luckily Rosie went home a few minutes ago and Felix is playing in his room .
“What pulled your tail ?” I yell from the kitchen as I fry the steak strips in the pan .
” Are you cooking again ?” he grits out , sounding beyond pissed off .
“No , I’m just heating up the food .” the sarcasm in my tone has his striding in , glaring at me . “Come on , you clearly had a bad day , I’m just making dinner . Any man would appreciate it .” I wave the spoon in my hand around as my body is turned sideways .
” I do appreciate it , but where is Felix ?” he pulls his blazer off his shoulders .
” Playing in his room .”
” Good .” he tosses his blazer on the island before rounding the counter , coming up behind me as I turn back to the stove .
” The investors that wanted to invest in the company pulled out .” he sighs as his hands snake around my waist .
“Oh , I’m sorry. Did they say why ?” My heart is bleeding for him , he did not invent this company , he inherited it. His grandfather’s grandfather began the company and here he is, running it and slightly failing his legacy .
It’s difficult because it feeds everyone here , this is a second business. All these shops are businesses on our land , small but they work. Some wolves do work in the human world , some work in the town and others work in the town over .
“No. They aren’t inclined to explain to me , even if I beg.” he sighs , “But it’s fine, it just means that I have to work a whole lot more this week, but what’s new ?” he hugs me as his chin rests on my shoulder .
I can not think that he’s standing comfortably, but I love the affection.
These last three years since Felix was born has been difficult, because he’s time consuming and Aiden is busy. We barely had time for ourselves especially when Rosie and Stefan moved out. They now live in their own happy bubble , being pregnant, and soon she will feel it too.
I remember the day she told me she was pregnant, she came crying as if there was something wrong , but the wary smile that broke out on her face while tears streamed down her flushed cheeks was memorable .
It was like a miracle, because they were just about to give up and now they have a daughter on their way.
“It’ll be okay .” I smile as I step to the side , throwing the chicken strips into a bowl.
“Food is ready , I am just going to grab Felix . Dish up .” I smile as my hand rests on his bicep.
He’s grown more muscular everyday , it’s luring and a turn on , but the worst part is when we’re in the zone and Felix comes knocking or cries . I wish the baby monitor would just shut up sometimes , but no one ever told you that being a parent means that you come last .
I stand in the middle of the staircase , “Felix !” I call out to him , knowing that his door is always open , but he doesn’t respond.
“Felix !” I call again , but my heart sinks as he doesn’t say anything .
“Everything okay ?” Aiden yells from the kitchen , “Yeah .”
My shaky legs carry me to the second floor and I stare down the hallway at his open door.. he should have heard me…why didn’t he hear me?
I inhale a deep breath as I stride down the hallway , frozen in his doorframe as he sits and stares out of the window.
“Felix .” I call out to him , but he doesn’t turn to look at me, he doesn’t move.
I pad over to him , lowering on my haunches in front of him, but his eyes widen as he stares at me and a sharp scream erupts out of his mouth , making me jolt back in shock.
“Felix .” I grab his arms , holding him to me and it takes a while before he calms down .
“Mommy .” he breathes out in terror , his little hands clutching me.
Aiden comes rushing in , looking at us with wide eyes, “What happened ?” he asks , falling to his knees beside Felix.
“I don’t know.” I shake my head and Felix pulls back.
“That lady talked to me again , she said we have to be ready , she scares me.” he curls up, holding his knees to his chest.
“What lady ?” Aiden frowns, “The one I told mommy about.” he stands up before jumping into Aiden’s arms.
“Okay buddy.” Aiden rubs his back , giving me the side eye that makes my skin crawl .
” We’ll be ready.” Aiden soothes him.
“Do you want ice-cream after dinner?” Aiden asks , distracting him.
Felix nods , his dark hair wobbling.
“Okay, let’s go.” Aiden picks him up , holding his hand out to me as he stands .
“I’ll be there in a minute.”
He nods before leaving and I stare out of the window , the full moon on display.
Closing my eyes , I focus on the Moon Goddess.
” Please , tell me why you would do this to our son? He’s scared. Tell me who’s coming. Tell me he’ll be safe.” I beg as my fingers dig into my thighs.
Nothing, I don’t even feel her.
Maybe he’s having a traumatic experience, but of what? I’m sure he can’t remember being taken when being a baby…
I sigh before heading downstairs and the steak strips and fries I made don’t even taste as good as it did before everything.
I pick at my food and when I bite into a hard fry, my stomach twists painfully , cramping and vile rises up my throat.
I rush to the bathroom , shutting the door behind me as I spew out everything I have eaten.
What is going on with me?
I sit against the bathroom wall , tears streaming down my face when Aiden comes in.
“Felix is eating ice-cream, are you okay?” he lowers onto his haunches , his eyes boring into me.
“I’m sick. We don’t get sick.” I shake my head , ” Are you pregnant ?” he asks and my entire face falls, my body feeling numb at his question.
“Maybe, I don’t know.” I wipe my own tears .
“We did have s*x a few weeks ago.” he shrugs , his eyes sparkling in joy at the thought of another baby.
” I’ll go to the doctor tomorrow, but Aiden, what’s coming ?” I ask as I grab his hand.
He sighs, lifting me up, ” I don’t know.”
My head falls against his shoulder and my heart sinks into my stomach.
What if I am pregnant and I lose the baby over a unknown war ?
What if I die ?
What if he dies?
We let Felix sleep with us and he’s cuddled in between our bodies as we lay in bed.
I finally fall asleep.
A humming round rings through my ears and when my eyes open , I am laying in a field. The grass around me is tall , the flowery scent infiltrating my nostrils make me sit up and I glance around at all the trees .
Where the hell am I?
Standing, I’m forced to sit .
“You can’t walk here.” a woman’s angelic voice makes me glance around and when I look in front of me , a bright light appears , almost like a star, “Who’s there?” I yell , trying to calm myself as the light fades and is replaced with a body, white long hair , bright silver eyes, a crown on her forehead, no feet.
The Moon Goddess.
“What am I doing here?” I frown, “You asked questions dear, how can I not answer when my children are in danger ?” She practically sings her words, it’s soothing .
” Who’s coming ?” I ask and she just stares at me.
“We killed our enemy.” I point out , “But did you kill your enemy’s lover’s family ?” she asks and my b***d runs cold .
“Elizabeth’s family ?” I ask and she just hums, not clarifying if it’s a yes or no.
“Why did you tell Felix?” I snap at her and she rolls her eyes.
“He’s young , he’s easier to enter than you two. You’re out like lights and leave no entry for me. He dreams is all colors . He’s the only way I could reach you.” she explains, but it makes no sense actually.
“Why warn us?” I ask and she giggles , “I won’t ever let a pregnant woman be harmed. You two have a life to live, you two have a future and hope , but the dark hearted ones do not see past their anger. The Lycans are coming Eleia, protect your children.” she vanishes and I’m left in the field when two boys come running , Felix the one and the other still a baby learning to walk.
