Chapter 857: Is He Seeing Another Girl?

Upon hearing Yanis's voice, Alfie turned around to see Yanis standing behind him. "Sister Yanis," he

exclaimed.

Yanis crouched down next to Alfie. "What are you doing here? You look so sad. Did Sister Linda bully

you again? Or did she snatch your food?"

Shaking his head, Alfie poked at something with a stick in his hand.

"Tell Sister Yanis about it," Yanis coaxed softly.

After hesitating for a moment, Alfie turned to Yanis and asked, "Sister Yanis, why hasn't Uncle

Lawrence been coming to the store to see you lately? Is he seeing another girl outside and doesn't

want you anymore?"

Yanis couldn't help but burst into laughter upon hearing his words. "He's just busy with work. We see

each other every day at home."

Yanis paused for a moment, then added, "And Uncle Lawrence doesn't have another girl outside."

Alfie pouted, "Men's mouths lie like ghosts. I saw Uncle Lawrence with another girl!"

Yanis took a while to react to his words.

Alfie looked at Yanis, feeling a bit flustered. "Sister Yanis, are you sad? I told you he's not a good

person, but you never listen!"

Yanis had been thinking about when Zane brought another girl, but upon hearing Alfie's accusatory

words, she couldn't help but laugh again.

"How can you still laugh? He has another girl!"

Yanis asked, "Is the other girl prettier than me?"

Without even thinking, Alfie said directly, "I think no one is as beautiful as you!"

Yanis reached out and rubbed Alfie's head. "Uncle Lawrence doesn't have another girl. He said he only

wants me."

"Really? Do you believe him?"

Yanis nodded. "I believe him."

After a moment of silence, Alfie said, "Then, Sister Yanis, can you make him come to pick you up at

night? I'll interrogate him!"

Yanis nodded. "Okay."

After confirming, Yanis looked at Alfie and asked, "Are you squatting here all by yourself because of

this?"

Alfie nodded, "I didn't even dare to tell Mom."

Yanis stood up and pulled Alfie up with her. "Let's go inside."

"Sister Yanis, why aren't you angry?" Alfie asked.

"Why should I be angry?"

"Uncle Lawrence has another girl, shouldn't you be angry?"

Yanis said, "I trust him. He won't have another girl."

"Well, I'll ask him tonight. You must make him come over," Alfie said seriously, looking at Yanis.

Yanis nodded. "Okay, I'll call him later and ask him to come. Is that alright?"

Alfie replied, "Okay."

"Wendy." Yanis brought Alfie inside and looked at Wendy, who was busy. "Are you making dumplings

for lunch?"

"Bonnie said she wanted to eat dumplings, so I bought some ingredients this morning," Wendy replied,

glancing at Alfie, who was following Yanis. "Did he cause trouble again?"

Alfie shook his head. "No, I was just playing by myself."

Yanis added, "No, he was waiting at the door, and I brought him in."

While busy, Wendy said to Yanis, "I don't know what's going on with him these days. He's always

squatting somewhere, mumbling to himself. When I ask him, he ignores me and says I don't

understand." Wendy looked frustrated.

Hearing Wendy's words, Yanis laughed. "Maybe he has his own little secret." Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Wendy glanced at Alfie's face and said, "What secret can a little kid like him have?"

Alfie said seriously, "Little kids can have secrets too. I'll only tell Sister Yanis, not you."

Wendy scoffed, "I don't want to know."

Alfie huffed, "Well, I don't want to tell you!"

Yanis watched the mother and son arguing back and forth and couldn't help but feel a sense of

anticipation.

Even after witnessing Nancy giving birth yesterday, Yanis was still looking forward to having her own

child with Zane.

During lunchtime, Bonnie arrived right on time. Wendy had just finished cooking dumplings.

"I was going to bring them over in a while," Wendy whispered when she saw Bonnie enter.

Bonnie approached and sat down on one of the chairs inside. "I was planning to come in the morning,

but there was a problem with the water pipes in my kitchen. I called someone to fix it, and it just got

resolved a while ago."

Yanis handed the plate of dumplings to Bonnie. "How did the water pipes break?"

Bonnie reached out and took the plate. "I don't know. I never bothered with it. Myles always took care

of it."

Hearing the name being mentioned after a long time, Bonnie herself was momentarily startled.

Yanis didn't pursue the topic and changed the subject. "Shall we go to the hospital to see Nancy later?"

Bonnie looked at Yanis and asked, "Did she have a boy or a girl?"

"A boy."

Bonnie nodded. "Good, let's finish eating and go. I have an appointment for a check-up in the

afternoon. You can accompany me."

Yanis murmured in agreement.

After finishing lunch, the two of them took a stroll outside the door to aid digestion before driving to the

hospital. They also bought some things on the way.

On the way, Yanis told Bonnie about what happened at the hospital yesterday.

After listening, Bonnie looked sympathetic. "Her husband seems to treat her well, doesn't he? She

seems to be living a good life."

"Looks can be deceiving. Only she knows what her reality is like," Yanis replied.

Bonnie was genuinely surprised to learn that Nancy, too, lived like the pitiful married women described

by others, appearing happy on the surface but not actually leading a good life.

Once they arrived at the hospital, they went straight to Nancy's ward.

They expected Aunt Rivers and Nancy's husband to be there, but when they entered, Nancy was the

only one in the room.

Yanis was slightly taken aback. "Why are you alone?"

Nancy was half-lying on the bed and looked slightly shocked when she saw Yanis and Bonnie enter.

"Why are you here?"

Yanis placed the things she was holding on the side and responded, "Bonnie had her factory check-up

today, and I came with her. We also wanted to check on you. I told you yesterday that we would come

today."

After saying that, Yanis glanced around the room. "Where are they? Where is Aunt Rivers?"

"She took the baby for a check-up."

Yanis nodded, realizing there was no one else to ask about Nancy's husband.

While Yanis and Bonnie were talking to Nancy, the door to the ward suddenly swung open with force,

and everyone turned to look.

When Yanis saw Nancy's furious husband storming in, she instinctively moved to protect Bonnie behind

her. "What have you been eating?" he snapped at Nancy without even acknowledging Yanis and

Bonnie's presence.
