Chapter 847: You're Done if I Catch You Lying

Yanis prepared some food for Zane and also made some for Allan. Originally, Yanis planned to ask

Zane to call him, but just as she finished cooking for Allan, he came downstairs. "Is there a portion for

me?"

Yanis looked at him and said, "Aren't you supposed to be sleeping?"

"I smelled something good and got hungry, so I came down," Allan replied, glancing at Zane's bowl.

"No food for me?"

Yanis responded, "Yes, I'll bring it out for you."

"No need, I'll do it myself," Allan said, entering the kitchen and scooping out his portion of noodles. He Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

sat down across from Zane. "Having a wife is great. I need to hurry up and marry Reed."

After saying this, Allan shook his head. "Marrying her means cooking for her!"

"Do you know how to cook?" Yanis casually asked.

With a mouthful of noodles, Allan replied, "I can learn if I don't know. I'll take a cooking class in the near

future, and I'll definitely become a five-star chef."

Then Allan looked at Zane. "Mr. Lawrence, would you like to join me?"

Zane glanced at Allan calmly and said, "No need, you go ahead. Or perhaps, you should become my

disciple?"

Allan almost choked on his noodles. "You can cook? Did Yanis teach you?"

Yanis chimed in, "Mr. Lawrence is a self-taught chef."

Allan looked at Yanis in disbelief. "Can his food be eaten? Is there a risk of food poisoning?"

Yanis said, "Practice makes perfect."

Hearing this, Allan nodded in agreement. "You're right. It seems like I need to practice more."

After finishing their meal, Zane left.

Allan sat in the living room and looked at Yanis, who had finished her tasks. "Can I go in and see her?"

Yanis raised her eyes to look at him. "Why are you suddenly so polite?"

Allan said, "I'm afraid that Mitch might come back and if he sees me, he'll think I have ulterior motives

towards his sister."

Yanis couldn't help but laugh. "You're still afraid of Mitch?"

"Can't I be afraid of my future brother-in-law?" Allan replied in a low voice.

"I suggest you wait until Reed wakes up before going in. She probably didn't get much sleep last night,"

Yanis advised.

"I just want to take a quick look, as quietly as possible," Allan insisted.

Seeing Allan's determination, Yanis didn't say anything more and nodded. "Go ahead. If Mitch comes

back, I'll explain it to him."

Allan thanked her and got up to go upstairs. As he reached the stairs, he suddenly stopped and turned

to look at Yanis. "Which room is hers?"

"The second one," Yanis replied.

Allan acknowledged with a grunt and went straight upstairs.

Upon entering the room, Allan treaded lightly, walked to the bedside, and looked at Reed sleeping

soundly. He wanted to touch her face, but then he remembered what Yanis had said about Reed

possibly not sleeping well the whole night. Allan withdrew his hand.

As Allan gazed at Reed sleeping, his gaze shifted to the mark on her neck that indicated she had been

strangled. Thinking about how helpless she looked when those people took her away, Allan's eyes

flashed with a cold gleam.

A rebellious impulse surged within him for a moment, but as he looked at Reed peacefully sleeping, he

silently suppressed that urge.

Allan didndidn't stay in the room for long. He quietly stayed by the bed for a while before turning around

and leaving the room. Once outside, he gently closed the door behind him.

Instead of returning to Mitch's room, Allan turned around and went downstairs.

Yanis saw Allan coming downstairs shortly after and looked up at him. "Why are you back so soon?"

Allan descended the stairs and sat on the couch in the living room. "She's sleeping, and I didn't want to

disturb her."

"Don't you want to take a nap?" Yanis asked.

Allan shook his head. "No need. I have some things to take care of."

After saying that, Allan looked at Yanis and said, "I'll be leaving now. Will you stay here and wait for

Mitch to come back?"

Yanis nodded in response. "Yes, Allan won't be able to properly take care of Reed. If Mitch comes

back, I'll explain things to him."

Allan expressed his gratitude, stood up, and said, "I'll take my leave then. If Mitch does return, I'll clear

things up with him."

Yanis watched Allan leave and then turned her attention to Zane.

Just as Yanis was about to speak, the door next to her was pushed open.

Mitch entered from outside, first greeting Yanis and then looking at Allan. "Aren't you supposed to be

sleeping?"

Allan replied, "I woke up. Still have some things to do."

Mitch didn't say much, just changed his shoes in the entrance before walking into the living room.

"Yanis, is Reed still sleeping?"

Yanis nodded. "Weren't you at the hospital? Why did you come back suddenly?"

"She has some tests today, might take two or three hours in the examination room. I came back to

make her something to eat," Mitch explained.

Yanis got up from her seat upon hearing this. "Let me do it. You didn't get much sleep last night either,

right? Go upstairs and rest for a while."

Mitch shook his head. "No need. I'll finish making the food and then go to the office."

"Didn't Zane tell you to take the day off and rest?" Yanis questioned.

Mitch responded, "I entered through the back door. It's not appropriate to take leave so often."

Having spent so much time with Mitch, Yanis knew he was a determined person, so she didn't say

anything further. "Alright then, you can help me. Did your mother mention anything she wants to eat?"

"Anything is fine," Mitch replied.

Yanis got up and checked the refrigerator. "Buy some spare ribs and lotus root."

Mitch nodded. "Is there anything else to buy? Send me a message with the details, and I'll go get them

now."

At the right moment, Allan spoke up. "I'll go with you. I was planning to leave as well."

Mitch looked at Allan's face upon hearing his words. "Aren't you going to say something to Reed?"

Before Mitch could finish his sentence, he suddenly stopped. "Let's go together."

Mitch had intended to ask Allan why he left without saying hello to Reed, but he held back his words.

Allan guessed what Mitch wanted to say and explained, "I was planning to handle some important

matters. I was just going to check on her briefly. Evan is busy by himself. I'll come back after I finish."

Mitch said in a calm tone, "Do as you wish."

"Yanis, I'll go buy the groceries now," Mitch greeted Yanis as he left.

Allan also said goodbye to Yanis and followed Mitch out the door.

Once outside, Mitch turned his head and looked at Allan. "Did you not tell me the truth?"

Upon hearing Mitch's words, Allan replied, "What do you mean I didn't tell the truth?"

"About last night and the matters between my father and them before," Mitch said sternly, staring at

Allan. "You better be telling the truth, or I won't agree to Reed being with you."

Allan smiled. "Of course, I'm telling the truth. If I didn't, would you let me see Reed?"

Mitch stared at Allan for a while. "It's better be that way. If I catch you lying, you're done!"

"Alright," Allan readily agreed.

The two parted at the door.

Allan stood in place and watched as Mitch walked away before turning and heading towards the

hospital.

Allan wanted to meet with Marnon, to ask if Nealon had said anything to him before.
