The Charming Ex-Wife

Chapter 75 I’m Allergic to the Word ‘Friend’

Lynn ultimately chose her mentor over the male colleague and walked over very gracefully to help her get a glass of water before patting her back to calm her down. “Dr. Thorne, why are you eating so quickly? The blood collection is tomorrow.”

Lysander choked and couldn’t speak, so she could only wave her hand. “I-I’m fine. It’s just a little spicy.”

“Have some soup.” Adrian placed a thermos lunch box in front of her. “Green spring minestrone. It’s good for your health.”

“Did you buy it from outside?”

Their hospital cafeteria didn’t offer such delicacies; it was already good enough to have pumpkin soup.

“I stewed it myself,” Adrian said. “Take your time drinking. I’ll go talk to the dean and come back later to retrieve the lunch box.”

Adrian smiled calmly and left the room, leaving Lysander alone in the wind while still chewing on her food.

Lynn covered her face and leaned in gossipingly. She dragged out her tone. “Dr. Thorne…”

Lysander frowned at the sound. “Can you speak normally? Your voice is making me uncomfortable.”

With an expression of “I see right through everything with my eyes,” Lynn tapped the thermos lunch box with her finger. “Dr. Sutton came for you, right?”

Lysander lowered her head to eat.”What nonsense are you talking about? He already said it’s because his family is in Harborbrook and the relationships in our hospital are simple.”

“Hmph!” Lynn sighed softly. “This soup was personally brewed by him. If he didn’t have special feelings for someone, why would he put in so much effort?”

Lysander said, “Maybe he was just making soup for himself for lunch?”

“Well, he’s really generous then.”

Lysander didn’t say anything. She just lowered her head and continued eating.

Lynn reached out to open the insulated lunch box. “Let me smell this soup and evaluate his cooking skills…”

Her hand was just about to reach it when Lysander slapped it away. “Don’t touch it. We have to return it to him exactly as it is.”

Lynn pouted. “Do you have to be so heartless?”

Lysander paused, lowered her head, and slowly said, “Since I have no intention of furthering this, it’s better to reject from the beginning. I don’t want him to misunderstand and think there’s still a chance for him. It’s unfair to him if I waste his time and emotions. It’s not ethical.”

Lynn leaned in closer to her before whispering, “Dr. Thorne, since you’re already divorced, you don’t have to reject directly. You can start as friends first and see how things progress later…”

Cough… Cough… Cough….

“Why are you coughing again? The food I bought today wasn’t spicy, right?” Lynn pulled out some tissues and handed them to her. “Dr. Thorne, are you okay? Is there something you’re allergic to?”

Lysander took the tissues and took a deep breath. “I’m allergic to the word ‘friends.”

Lynn was puzzled. “Huh?”

Lysander had almost finished eating. She quickly packed up the lunch box and handed the lunch box brought by Adrian to Lynn. “Can you please put this on the nurse station for me? Remember to give it to Dr. Sutton when he’s done.”

“What about you?”

Lysander smiled. “My dear assistant, I have to go out tomorrow to collect blood samples, so I need to go home, take a shower, and change clothes.”

Lynn chuckled. “All right. Leave it to me.”

Before leaving, Lysander suddenly remembered something. “Is the box of cookies that Dr. Sutton gave you still there?”

Lynn, looking like a protective nurse puppy, held onto the bag of cookies tightly. “You’re not going to make me give it back too, are you?”

Lysander felt helpless and said, “Take it out.”

Chapter 76 Death-like Beauty

“Dr. Thorne…”

“Don’t worry. I won’t let you return it. I just want to take a picture.”

Lynn hesitated but still handed her the small biscuit. Would you like to buy one too? Dr. Thorne, let me tell you. This small biscuit is really delicious and i won’t cause weight gain at all. It’s very popular and hard to find…”

After Lysander took the photo, Lynn quickly snatched the small biscuit back.

“Don’t worry. I won’t let you return it.”

Only then did Lynn feel relieved. “That’s good. Dr. Thorne. Are you buying it for me? Oh, you’re so kind.”

Lysander quickly reached out to stop the child from jumping in to hug her and said softly, “All right. You helped me bear the risk of the abortion last time, so I should thank you properly. I’ll buy you half a year’s worth of small biscuits.”

“Yay!”

Lysander’s legs were not convenient, so in the end, Lynn helped her out of the hospital entrance and watched her get into a taxi.

Lysander sat in the car and sent a picture to Daphne.

Daphne was puzzled.

Lysander wrote, ‘Miss Everhart, I know you have a wide network, can you get this brand of small biscuits?’

Daphne replied, ‘No problem. How many do you need?’

Lysander wrote, ‘200 boxes.

Daphne replied, ‘Wow, are you planning to do business? Stocking up on so much inventory?’

Lysander wrote, ‘My assistant, who’s a young girl, likes to eat these. She helped me with the abortion before, so I want to thank her.’

Daphne replied, ‘Oh, I remember that girl. She’s quite loyal. All right. I’ll help with this favor. 200 boxes, right? Wait for my message.

Lysander wrote, ‘Daphne, get two more boxes.

Daphne replied, ‘For yourself?’

Lysander wrote, ‘You know me. I don’t really like sweets.’
