Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 767

Chapter 767

Yolanda had solely intended to give Agnes some trouble, to deflate that inflated ego of hers, because,

truth be told, Agnes' draft was impeccable. But the unexpected happened—Agnes didn’t want to

continue,

Agnes retorted, "Since I’m resigning on this task, please handle the rest, Director Yolanda." After

saying this, she gathered all the scattered files from the floor, then she walked out of Yolanda's office.

Yolanda was livid. Agnes had the audacity to show her attitude, as if she was some big shot.

“Did Agnes really think the station couldn't survive without her? Well, if she didn't value this opportunity,

she had no one but herself to blame.” Yolanda furiously thought.

Yolanda dialed the number for the secretary department of the Tim Group.

The call was picked up by Leo.

"Hey Leo, remember me?" Yolanda greeted him cordially.

Having managed to stay by Jared's side for years, Leo naturally had a knack for recognizing voices.

"Yolanda, isn't it?" Leo replied, "I heard you're now the director of the News Department. That's quite

impressive. What can I do for you?"

Yolanda came straight to the point, "The thing is, Mr. Whitfield specifically picked Agnes from our

department to write the script for the Tim Group's promo video. But Agnes decided to step down from

the task, saying she doesn't have the ability to handle it. I need to discuss this with Mr. Whitfield. Does

he have any plans tonight? I'd like to invite him to dinner and talk about this matter."

"Well, the boss is right here. You can talk to him directly." Leo suggested.

Suddenly, Yolanda felt her nerves kicking in, and Jared's voice was already coming through from the

other end of the line, "Agnes can’t do it?"

Yolanda had her explanation ready, "Yes, scriptwriting isn't really Agnes' field of expertise, so she..."

"You'll do it then." Jared cut her off, his voice even-keeled.

Yolanda was taken aback, "What?"

Jared's calm voice came through the phone, "Yolanda, you're a journalism major, too. If your

subordinate can't handle it, then you'll have to step in. I'll leave this matter to you."

Once Yolanda recovered, she was overjoyed, "Mr. Whitfield, rest assured, I'll do my best on this. I won't

let you down."

Jared had actually called her by her first name.

Yolanda felt as if her heart was about to fly out of her chest.

"Good, let's leave it at that." With that, Jared hung up the phone.

Yolanda had wanted to say more. Jared's voice always held a captivating charm. After four years, it still

made her heart flutter.

Even though she knew deep down that Jared was a devil, ruthless and cold, and he had humiliated and

embarrassed her years ago. And she had held a grudge about it all these years. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

But a single gentle call from Jared was enough to make her surrender.

There are some men you want to hate, but just can't.

Yolanda was thrilled. This issue was resolved more effortlessly than she had anticipated.

She had been worried that Agnes might have some emotional connection with Jared and would take it

out on her. But it seemed there was nothing between them.

For the next few days, Yolanda was at peace.

Agnes was wholeheartedly preparing for the selection interview of "The Primary Perspective".

"The Primary Perspective" column had been revised, and there was only one host for the interview.

More than fifty people from various departments of the TV station had signed up to compete.

So, the management had decided on a three-round elimination system.
