Chapter 359 She Can’t Compare with You

For a moment, I choked up, unable to swallow the fruit in my mouth. My tongue tasted sour, and it took

a deep breath to recover. I didn’t look at him, instead, I turned my head to look at the clouds outside the

window.

He said, “I didn’t mean to lose my temper with her, nor did I want to argue with her. These days, she’s

been revolving around Marjorie. After Marjorie was hospitalized, I couldn’t even see her. I called her the

night I got injured, wanting to ask when she would come back to bring me some medicine. It was

Marjorie who answered. I couldn’t see her, nor could I get in touch with her. Today, knowing that I was

leaving, she kept nagging and even heard some nonsense from Marjorie. I couldn’t control my

emotions and ended up arguing with her.”

Walter fell silent for a few seconds, reaching out to touch my face, asking, “Does it still hurt?”

He touched the cheek that had been slapped by his mother. The slap wasn’t hard, I had long lost

sensation.

I shook my head, still feeling uncomfortable inside.

The soft laughter of Walter reached my ears. I turned to look at him, meeting his smiling dark eyes, and

frowned, “What are you laughing at?”

He reined in his laughter, but his eyes still held a hint of amusement as he looked at me. He said, “So,

you’re jealous of that woman?”

Seeing him address Marjorie in such a way, I emphasized, “She has a name, it’s Marjorie.”

He grunted in response, not caring at all.

I fell silent for a moment, then said, “I wouldn’t say I’m jealous, just a bit unaccustomed. It seems like

my mother really takes care of her, and so does Alexander.”

They had known each other for less than a month, yet sometimes when I looked at them, they seemed

as intimate as if they had known each other for many years. One was my mother, the other was a

friend I trusted. It was something that would probably make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Walter raised an eyebrow and smirked, “Tough talk.”

His unintentional words made me feel somewhat guilty, and I hurriedly defended myself, “I didn’t, it was

just like that, besides why would I be jealous of her, I’m not even close with her…”

At this point, I couldn’t help but squint at Walter’s handsome face, asking, “Walter, do you think Marjorie

is pretty?”

His handsome brows furrowed, looking at me with a bit of confusion, “Tabatha, what are you trying to

say?”

I smirked, opening my mouth to say, “Men always have an

unconscious physiological bias towards attractive women, it seems you are no exception.”

He was somewhat amused and exasperated. Suddenly, he held my face, forcing me to look at him. His Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

handsome face magnified in front of me, he said, “Tabatha, what she looks like has nothing to do with

me. Don’t try to smear me with her, and she’s no match for you.”

I squinted, feeling a bit of secret delight, but I still wore a look of disdain on my face. I scoffed, swatted

his hand away, and said, “I’m not competing with her, don’t stand so close to me.”

I distanced myself from him, and my mood improved significantly. I simply ate fruit salad while watching

the endless clouds outside the window.

Two hours later, the plane landed.

Springbury

Compared to River City, the temperature in Springbury was incredibly warm, a true winter paradise.

With temperatures around twenty-seven or twenty-eight degrees, we took off our heavy down jackets

as soon as we got out of the car.

Upon arriving at the hotel, everyone changed into summer clothes. It was getting late, and the elderly

lady, due to her age, couldn’t handle too much activity. So, after having dinner together, she went back

to the hotel to rest.

I liked the nights in Springbury, warm and pleasant. After dinner, I would prepare to take a walk near

the hotel.

When I left, I ran into Emma in the hallway. She was almost three months pregnant. In River City, she

dressed heavily so it wasn’t noticeable. But now, she had changed into lighter clothing, and I could

faintly see her slightly protruding belly.

Seeing that she seemed to be going out too, I took the initiative and asked, “Sister-in-law, are you

going out?”

She looked at me, paused for a moment, nodded slightly, and asked with a somewhat unnatural

expression, “Are you going out too?”

I nodded, saying, “I’m going to take a walk around, want to join?”

She hesitated for a few seconds, as if suddenly thinking of something, then nodded and said, “I heard

there’s a night market nearby, let’s go check it out together.”

I hummed in response, without giving it much thought.

I left the hotel with her, Springbury was warm, and there were many tourists who came here to stay.

Night markets and man-made

attractions were everywhere.

Emma was pregnant, and we were just out for a casual stroll. Originally, I intended to stroll leisurely, but

she walked fast, and I couldn’t help but speed up to keep up with her.

Seeing that she seemed to have something on her mind, I couldn’t help but ask, “Sister-in-law, where is

my elder brother?”

Hearing me mention William, she paused, her facial expression subtly changing, then said lightly, “I’m

not quite sure, he left after dinner, said he had something to do.”
