Divorcing

Chapter 59

Chapter 59: Divorce is a Must

I’ll take you there!”

Michael’s office wasn’t on this floor. Chloe thought Michael’s friends seemed shady, and she just wanted to see Michael and get out of there fast.

She didn’t mind his attitude and just followed him.

After Chloe and Asher left, Lucy seemed a bit upset. She let out a soft sigh but didn’t say a word. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Owen walked over to comfort her.

“Lucy, don’t let what she said get to you. I know you’re not like that. You and Michael are just colleagues,” he said softly as he gracefully moved to stand next to her.

Chloe’s words just now were brutal–so harsh that even a guy like him could barely take it.

Everyone knows that saying Lucy is Michael’s girlfriend is just a joke. It’s not for real.

Only a jealous woman like Chloe would go after Lucy.

Lucy was taken aback. Owen, usually so aloof and silent, was now comforting her.

She gave a small smile, “I’m okay. Chloe just misunderstood, she didn’t mean it. I’ll just be more careful around Michael from

now on.”

Hearing her still defending Chloe at this point, Owen felt even angrier.

“She basically called you a mistress. Why defend her?” Owen said.

“Owen, she’s my sister,” she said.

Owen stared at her for a while before saying, “You’re the only one who still thinks of her as your sister. She definitely doesn’t see you as hers.”

Asher stopped at the office door with Chloe. “Alright, this is where I leave you. You’re on your own from here,” he said.

“Thanks,” Chloe said.

She pushed the door open. Michael was on the phone, sitting behind his desk.

Seeing her approach, he frowned slightly, lowered his voice to say a few words, and then hung up the phone.

“What are you doing here?” he asked.

“I can’t come?” she said.

Chloe snapped back quickly, catching Michael off guard.

She walked over from the couch, circled the table, and stood in front of him. “I’m here to talk about our divorce,” she said.

Michael frowned as she brought up divorce again.

Chloe’s eyes darted quickly, catching a glimpse of his computer.

“That should have what I need, right?” she thought.

She bent down, eyes locked on his. “Mr. Shawn, are you running away? You tore up the contract. You owe me a new one, don’t you?”

She deliberately leaned in close, their breaths mingling.

He met her gaze, unyielding. “You know exactly why I tore up the contract.”

Chloe shrugged. “I get it, Mr. Shawn. You think I’m too close to other guys. But come on, you’re the one bringing that woman to the office every day. Don’t blame me.”

Michael knew she was talking about Lucy.

Suppressing his irritation, he repeated, “Lucy and I aren’t what you think.”

He had no clue how many more times he’d have to explain.

“What about the people around you?” she asked.

Michael blinked, puzzled by her words.

“Go ask your colleagues what they call Lucy, and you’ll see I’m not just trying to annoy you. I’m not insisting on a divorce, but you’ve never acknowledged our relationship publicly, and it’s been making me really uneasy…”

Chloe locked eyes with him, sighed, and bit her lip.

Michael frowned, wondering if the whole office was buzzing about his rumored fling with Lucy.

If he clears things up, maybe he won’t have to divorce Chloe.

Just then, the phone rang.

Michael felt a surge of impatience and almost hung up. But then he glanced at the caller ID, reconsidered, and got up to take the

call.

He murmured something.

Seeing him with his back turned, Chloe blinked, then swiftly started working on the computer, quickly implanting something.

Just as she was about to leave, her eyes caught sight of a file on his computer screen.
