Chapter 200
0200
Hector POV
"Get her out!" My wolf roars in my head and it's that warning that makes me take flight.
This entire pack was wrong, and I wasn't going to wait to find out exactly what happened with Kala by my side.
My wolf never backs down from a fight but for him to give such a warning, I know it is not to be taken lightly.
She almost slides down the stairs as I take three steps at a time to get to the exit.
"Hector wait, it might be someone that can tell us what happened." Kaia calls out but nothing will persuade my wolf. The front door was insight and nothing would stop me from getting her out.
Act now, questions later.
As soon as we exit the house, the dreadful realisation hits me...we had been watched from the moment we arrived.
"Trust me my love, whoever is here means us harm." I growl as I jump over a family of skeletons, Kaia doing the same.
She understands my emotions, my importance of getting us as far away from these lands as possible. This was a mistake, I shouldn't have brought her.
'She keeps up with me, her hand tightly grasped within mine as she tries to be careful of what is on the ground, of what we are disturbing by running..she gets that we need to leave. Even though it is defiling the final resting places of her people. We run as my wolf tries to sense out the threat. I can feel eyes on still as we reach the pack gates by the country lane.
Every bone and muscle in my body wants to turn, to rip to shreds who dared to watch us...but if I shift...so will Kaia. And I just can't take that risk. Not here, not in her mother's pack.
This could be a trick to prove she is the white wolf after all, I should never have brought her here.
My eyes search the landscape behind us as I let my aura crash into Kaia.
She doesn't wait and climbs over the gate, myself only a few seconds after as we then rush to my car. As soon as we are in the vehicle, I start the engine and shift into gear, even before the doors are closed. We don't even stop to put our seat belts on.
As we pick up speed I recognise that same blacked-out pickup truck from before.
"Fuck!" I curse out, Kala whipping her head back to look behind me.
"Do we need to be worried about that truck?"
"Worried, no. But for now, we have a shadow following us." Shit, I knew I should have trusted my gut
instinct... that truck had been following us all along.
They didn't intimidate me, I was a bloody good driver but having my mate next to me...my priorities in my world have now changed.
She comes first, her safety comes first.
I won't make mistakes, poor decisions that will put her at risk...and that is what truly frightened me. I can't have her put at risk..
If I can get us safely to an alliance pack we should lose this tail, they won't dare to follow us into pack grounds.
Especially when I am in the alliance.
Thinking quickly I press Ezra's mobile number on the car's media system to call him as I continue to weave around sharp corners, my arm spread out and pressed against Kaia's chest to keep her held back In the seat. "Kaia...seatbelt!" I command heavily and she does as I order.
"Alpha?"
"Ezra, I need to know the nearest pack in the alliance. I need...fuck me!" I roar out, pinning Kaia against the chair more as the dickhead behind rams into my rear bumper.
She may have her seatbelt now on but she still flung forward too much for my liking.
"What is it? What's wrong?" My beta goes into action mode.
"Ezra..." Kaia starts as I hit the breaks to turn a sharp corner. I needed to get on a straight road, on a highway to lose this bastard.
"...we've picked up a tail. What's the nearest pack to us that is in the alliance?" I demand to know, my eyes sharing their time between watching the road ahead and glancing through the mirrors to the road behind. "I'll check..." Ezra responds before Alora can be heard in the background.
"Kaia..what's going on?" Alora's voice is higher than usual.
"We are being chased...Alora, the entire pack..they were brutally killed." Kaia gasps as she clings on to the dashboard as I plough through a fence to cut across a farmer's field.
"What?" Alora gasps in disbelief.
"They weren't even buried, they were left where they were slain." Kaia roars.
I glance at her just long enough to find the blue rims around her pupil bleeding out into her green eyes. Her wolf trying to take control.
"Come home!" Alora growls down the phone which is met by my own angry growl...her home was with me.
"Ezra, the damn pack name?" I roar out.
"Red Thorn."
"Who else?"
"It's that or...it's them, Red Thorn."
"Ezra?" I tense my jaw. The Red Thorn was not an option.
Not only were they not in the alliance but they were closely linked to the Amber Desert pack. The alpha being Damon's best friend...a lot of my own teenage years spent at that pack with the alpha family. Memories I choose to forget.
It also happened to be the pack Medea was from, the alpha being a cousin of hers. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Kaia?" I can sense Alora's worry for her sister as she gasps out loud as I slam the breaks on to hit another sharp corner.
"I'm fine..."
Relief hits me as I see the highway ahead...as soon as hit that I can out run this prick. I'll drive straight on to the Dark Phantom pack.....
"Hector watch out!" Kaia screams, her hands flinging out to me as a van drives out of nowhere blocking the small lane, blocking my view of the highway. I slam my foot on the breaks but it is too late.
1 don't feel pain from the impact, the only pain was the shrieking desperate scream of Kaia as my world blacked out.
