Chapter 32
After breakfast, Niamh called Billie.
Billie, who was still half-asleep, woke up instantly upon hearing that Niamh had returned from abroad. "You're back?"
"Yeah, I'm coming to your place."
"Alright, I'll take the morning off. Come on over.
"Okay." Niamh hung up and walked out.
She only took her piglet, Ginger, and didn't take anything else with her. She no longer wanted anything that had once belonged to her in that house. That was why she was still wearing the same clothes she had on when she returned the previous day. Maplewood was a residential area for the wealthy, so it was almost impossible to hail a cab there. Niamh had to walk a long distance just to get out of the neighborhood. The area was so secluded that she waited for nearly half an hour and still failed to get a cab. Suddenly, a Rolls-Royce Phantom sped in her direction and screeched to a halt right beside her. The car moved so fast that Niamh instinctively stepped back and was about to shout in fright.
In the next moment, the car window rolled down, and she caught sight of Castiel's cold, chiseled profile. He stared straight at her with a piercing gaze like a hawk's.
"Get in," he ordered with a commanding tone.
Niamh was about to refuse.
But Castiel spoke again and cut her off, "Niamh, you know I don't have much patience. I've held back from taking it out on the people close to you because I respected the ten years we've had together." "What do you want from me?" Niamh asked, sensing the threat in his words.
Castiel stared at her, clearly displeased. He didn't want to resort to this, but this woman was pushing him to the brink of madness. He saw no other way to keep her under control besides forcefully limiting her freedom. Niamh finally relented and got into the car.
"Where are we going?" she asked.
Castiel glanced at her, his anger flaring when he saw her holding Ginger in her arms. "The hospital." The moment Niamh heard his answer, she could guess what his intention was. Even after being gone for three months, nothing had changed. Other than a delay in time, everything was playing out exactly as it had in her previous life. Time hadn't altered a thing.
Niamh looked at him. Despite knowing the answer, she still asked, "Why are we going there?"
Castiel met her gaze. "Macy knows about your involvement in hiring the kidnappers." "And?"Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
"She's not asking for much. She just wants an apology. That's quite reasonable."
Niamh laughed and stared at Castiel like he were a fool. "Do you seriously think she's that magnanimous?"
The eyes and the legs were of significant importance to any human being. How could anyone. forgive something like that so easily?
Castiel glanced at her, thoroughly disappointed in her unrepentant attitude.
"You
should be grateful she's only asking for an apology," he said frostily.
"Did she tell you what she'd do if I refused to apologize?" Niamh asked, a smirk playing on her lips.
Had Castiel always been such a fool? How could she have ever fallen for this swine? Even Ginger was smarter than him.
Castiel turned away from her and remained silent.
Niamh knew that Macy's stance was firm when she made the request. She was certain Niamh wouldn't apologize.
They arrived at the hospital. It was right in the busy city center, with cars and people bustling everywhere.
As soon as Niamh got out of the car, she started walking away from the hospital and ignored Castiel entirely. To him, her attitude was proof that she felt no remorse.
In just a few strides, Castiel caught up with her. He grabbed her by the arm-to be more exact, her right arm. Niamh winced in pain and looked at him with a gaze even more chilling than before.
This coldness in her eyes was different from anything he'd seen before.
Castiel's hand slid to her slender waist. He loosened his grip slightly as he spoke in a coaxing tone. "Come on, be good. This isn't the time to be stubborn."
Niamh found the situation laughable.
