Blind Date Turned Proposal

Chapter 1376 The Project Was Secured

There was a falsified surveillance footage on it.

The footage clearly showed his entire schedule for the day, with no trace of him visiting the courtyard house.

When necessary, it could be used as evidence.

Abraham heaved a sigh of relief, quietly admiring how meticulous this young lady was. Yet, he found it strange. Even if she was associated with Morgan, she shouldn't have been this thorough.

Two hours later, Josie's plane soared into the sky. She rubbed her head, deleting the video demo she had created on her computer.

The Witherspoon family had once saved Dexter's life. Coupled with the connection through Juliette, she would do her utmost to protect Abraham.

Her fingertips rested on the keyboard as she pondered. Is this my way of repaying his kindness?

It was truly beyond anyone's expectations.

After the plane had landed, Josie turned on her phone and received two messages.

The first message came from Larry, and it read: Mr. Russell has already been taken away for questioning.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

The second message came from Morgan, who assured her that he was all right.

Josie skimmed through the second text and sent a message to Larry that read: They're going to conduct a financial investigation. Get yourselves prepared.

Mark had already been discharged from the hospital and returned to Olsen Residence. His health was not fully recovered, and he was propped up by a cushion on the couch, holding a newspaper in his hand. "Tsk! It's such a hassle. So what if there's an investigation? They should just proceed. What's there to hide? No need for all these surprise tactics."

Laura sat nearby, pouring him tea. "You can't quite put it that way. After all, it's all about being thorough."

Mark folded up the newspaper, suddenly asking, "Olsen Group can withstand scrutiny, right?"

Taken aback for a moment, Laura laughed and said, "Of course."

"That's good, then."

Upon entering the room, Josie was greeted by this conversation. She was still carrying her laptop bag, looking travel-worn and weary. Seeing her state, Laura quickly rose to her feet. "Where have you been? You've been missing for two days."

Josie let out a sigh. "We were racing against time to secure Eccentric Corporation's project, which led us to go after Morgan all the way to Newcove."

Laura's smile momentarily froze when Newcove was mentioned. "How did it go?" she asked.

"It's secured."

Mark gave a thumbs up. "Not bad! That's quick."

Laura also nodded in agreement. "It's impressive, indeed."

Josie noticed the change in Laura's expression. "It took me a lot of effort, but once Morgan returns to Wavery, we can sign the contract."

"That's great, but why didn't you come back together?"

"Why would you ask something like

that? We don't have any sort of relationship, so why would we come back together?" Josie asked, taken aback.

Laura paused, realizing that her question was indeed somewhat inappropriate. "I was being foolish."

Surprisingly, upon returning to Olsen Residence, Josie felt an unexpected sense of belonging, as if she had truly returned home. After taking a shower, Josie went to visit Paul.

Paul still looked the same, well taken

When Josie approached him, he astonishingly mistook her for Laura.

She didn't correct him either, merely offering a helpless smile as she sat beside him, together basking in the autumn sunlight.

"Pop, Dexter won't be in any trouble, right?" she asked.

Paul didn't understand. He idly fiddled with a leaf he had pulled from a tree.

"I used to think that the connections between people were truly inexplicable. However, I later realized that many things are intertwined. Where there's a cause, there's an effect. With Dexter, I'm the cause.

No one knew what the outcome would be.

When Josie went out, she surprisingly found Claudia bustling about with the servants in the kitchen.

Josie was somewhat taken aback. "What are you doing?"

"I'm making the vegetarian dishes your father mentioned he wanted to eat.”

Unknowingly, Josie was gradually growing more accustomed to that form of address.

"I also want some. After Sousturham, I've never tasted vegetarian dishes quite as delicious."
