emotions. She made her way back to her room, feeling a mix of relief and sadness. She knew confronting Harvey was the right thing to do, but it didn’t make it any easier.
Back in her room, she found Sean still awake, sitting on the bed with Lily in his arms. He looked up as she entered, concern etched on his face.
“Are you okay? Where have you been?” he asked softly.
Rebecca nodded, forcing a smile. “Yeah, I’m okay. Just needed some air.”
Sean studied her for a moment, then nodded. “Alright. Get some rest. We have a long day tomorrow.”
Rebecca climbed into bed, her mind racing. She knew she needed to focus on the future, on her new family, and on the new life they were building together. But she couldn’t help but feel the weight of her past.
“What
happened to Harvey’s mother? Does Victoria have her? He could just tell the police about everything instead of making it difficult for us?”
As she lay there, listening to the soft sounds of Lily’s breathing, she made a silent promise to herself. She would do whatever it took to protect her daughter and ensure their happiness, no matter what challenges lay ahead. She knew Harvey had his own problems, but when he decided to leave them, it meant he had put her as an outsider.
The next morning, Rebecca woke early, determined to put the previous night behind her. She got up quietly, not wanting to wake Lily, and went to the bathroom to freshen up. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she felt a renewed sense of determination. She was stronger than she realized, and he had a beautiful daughter and a supportive partner who loved her daughter as his own.
She stepped out of the bathroom and found Sean awake, gently rocking Lily in his arms. He looked up and smiled at her. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“Good morning. Sorry, she cried out loud, so I barked in,” he said casually.
“Good morning, no, thank you,” Rebecca replied, returning his smile.
“Are you ready for our adventure today?” Sean asked, his eyes twinkling with excitement.
Rebecca nodded. “Yes, I’m ready.”

As they reached their destination, the breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast stretched out before them. Rebecca felt a surge of happiness as she looked at Sean and Lily. For the first time, she could see them as a whole happy young family. This was their new beginning, a chance to create beautiful memories together. Even without ‘romantic relationships, it was still fine.
They spent the day exploring the picturesque towns, enjoying the stunning scenery. and savoring the delicious Italian cuisine. Sean and Rebecca took turns carrying Lily. who cried and shouted at every time. They visited charming shops, walked along the beach, and even took a boat ride along the coast.
In the evening, they returned to their hotel, tired but happy. As they settled into their room, Rebecca felt a deep sense of contentment.

“Um, how long do you think this kind of marriage would last?” asked Rebecca randomly.
Sean chuckled, “Depends, if you want to, we can make it forever,” he shrugged casually.
Rebecca glared in surprise, “What?”
“Well, we can fill each other with happiness, I think that’s enough.”
“But-“Rebecca paused.
“But what?” demanded Sean.
“There’s something that we can’t do,” muttered Rebecca hesitantly.
“And what is that?” Sean frowned curiously.

Back in their hotel room, after Lily had fallen asleep, Rebecca found Sean on the balcony again, staring out at the sea. She joined him, wrapping a shawl around her shoulders to ward off the cool night air.
“Sean, can we talk?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Scan turned to her, his eyes soft and inviting. “Of course, Becky. What’s on your mind?”
Rebecca took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation ahead. “I need to tell you something about Harvey.”
Sean’s–expression shifted slightly, curiosity mingling with concern. “Go on.”
She recounted her encounters with Harvey, his desperate plea for a meeting, and his cryptic comments about his mother’s safety and his true parentage. Sean listened intently, his face growing more serious with each passing detail.
“And then there’s Victoria,” Rebecca continued. “He said something about her not being his biological mother. I don’t know what to make of it, Sean. It’s all so confusing.”
Sean nodded, processing the information. “Do you believe him?”
Rebecca sighed. “I don’t know. Harvey has always been secretive, but he sounded. genuinely scared. If there’s a threat to his mother’s life, and he’s been dealing with this on his own… I can’t just ignore it. I mean he’s Lily’s father.”
Sean placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Becky, whatever happens, we’ll face it together. We need to get more information, and understand the whole picture. But for now, let’s focus on us and Lily.”
Rebecca nodded. “Thank you, Sean. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” She felt bad for involving Sean in every problem she had to face.
“You’ll never have to find out,” he said with a warm smile.
The following morning, they left the Amalfi Coast with heavy hearts. The drive back was filled with laughter and light–hearted conversation, but the weight of the previous night’s conversations lingered in Rebecca’s mind.
Back in Manhattan, their routine resumed, but the air was thick with unspoken thoughts. Sean and Rebecca knew they needed to have the difficult conversations they had postponed during their trip.

The next evening, after putting Lily to bed, they sat in the living room, ready to face their uncertainties head–on.
“Becky, I’ve been thinking about our arrangement, our relationship,” Sean began, breaking the silence.
Rebecca nodded, her heart pounding. “Me top. Sean, I don’t want to live in limbo. anymore. We need to figure out what we really mean to each other. Well, this relationship is fine though but still, we have to set boundaries.”
Sean took her hand, his grip firm and reassuring. “Becky, when we started this, it was about providing a stable environment for Lily. But over time, my feelings have grown. I care about you, more than I ever expected to
Rebecca glared. “Really? But it’s still about Maggie and Bea, isn’t it?” she asked carefully.
Sean sighed.
“It will be forever about them in a good way, if only I drove faster at that time, Maggie and Bea would never be in that car crash. You knew I’ve been punishing myself in the last three years, and right now my intention is only to protect you and Lily and make sure you both live happily.”
Rebecca gulped, she knew their relationship would never go anywhere. Not only because she couldn’t get Harvey out of her mind, but because Sean would never fall in love with her. It would always be about his late wife, Maggie, and his late daughter, Bea.
“Yeah, um, well, sex is just sex. If we couldn’t find a way out we could just do it casually, no feelings involved, that’s cool though said Rebecca, trying hard not to show interest; she didn’t want to look like a sex maniac.
Sean chuckled. “You make us sound like animals, but I agree. Then, why don’t we start with being bare to each other? No secret since we’re friends,” he said, looking at her intently.
Rebecca took a deep breath, feeling a sense of clarity. “Okay. Let’s be honest. I still have unresolved feelings about Harvey and what he said when we met in Italy. I need to know the truth, not just for me, but for Lily.”
“Only that feeling?” asked Scan.
Rebecca cleared her throat and coughed nervously. “Well, I think I still love him,” she said, feeling a sharp pain as she said that.

“But it’s impossible, isn’t it? You know you can’t go back to him. I mean with the risks and everything.”
Rebecca nodded, “I know…”
Scan took a deep breath. “Then don’t. Um, or maybe you want to try to make it real? I mean, us?”
Rebecca looked into Sean’s eyes, seeing the sincerity and hope in them. “Really, Sean? Well, that’s not a bad idea. I mean, I’m willing to try. To see if we can be more than just partners in raising Lily, but if it fails, let’s go back to being parents, just parents. No hurt feelings.”
A smile spread across Sean’s face. “Then let’s take it one step at a time. We’ll deal with Harvey, and we’ll explore what we have. No pressure, no rush. Just us, figuring things out together.”
Rebecca felt a wave of relief and happiness wash over her. “I like the sound of that. No pressure.”
Suddenly, Rebecca’s phone buzzed.
“Cassie?”
“We’ve been dying for your post, Becky! I heard you’re in Manhattan already. Is everything okay? Why do you never post any stories or feeds? I mean, let us know if you’re okay!” cried Cassie on the other side.
Rebecca felt guilty.
“Sorry, Cassie, I decided to take a break from social media for a bit. You know, I’ve got many things in my head, and I wanted to clear them one by one,” she said earnestly.
“Well, if it’s for your wellness, then I’ll support you. Anyway, have you seen the news?” asked Cassie hesitantly.
“What news?” Rebecca frowned in curiosity.
“Alicia Fox just announced her pregnancy.”
Rebecca felt like the world spun faster, and she suddenly threw up.
