22. You Once Asked If I’ll Like To Marry You
Once Drake Bell appeared before her, he hurriedly spoke, “Lily, who made you cry?” A look of a sincere concern was obvious on his face. This was the type of look she yearnred earnestly to see on him many years ago when they were married but she never got to see it.
“I’m fine,” Lily continued walking inside her room.
Drake Bell caught up with her and asked again, “your eyes are swollen so obviously, something is wrong. Lily, I know you don’t like me but at least, let me protect you. You can’t be living with me and someone out there will have the gut to bully you.”Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“I just said I’m fine,” lily wasn’t impressed by his so called ‘caring’ attitude at all. Infact, it even disgusts her more. Where was this attitude many years ago when she was married to him?
Drake Bell paused and simply watched until she faded out of sight.
Lily cried her eyes out until evening. The realization was too heavy for her. When it was 9PM in the evening, she received a call from Ella.
It had even escaped her mind that she had a date with Ella at the club. She answered the call and told her to give her more minutes and that she will join her soon.
Lily soon went to get dressed afterwhich she drove out of the house. She pulled over at the club a few minutes later. It didn’t take her much effort to find Ella. Ella was dressed in a skimpy gown that revealed a major part of her thighs unlike Lily who was dressed in blue jean and a white crop top. Eventually, they both looked adorable.
The two friends chatted happily as they walked inside the club. After they had both sat, Ella offered for them to dance but Lily wasn’t in the mood so she maintained the forced smile on her lips and said, “let me just watch for now, I’ll join the dance later. You can go ahead and dance.”
Ella however was in the mood to have a wild fun at the group so she tried to understand her friend’s reason for deciding not to dance yet. It’s been a long time since Lily came to club anyways unlike her who comes to club frequently.
“Fine…” Ella winked at her and soon found her way to the dancefloor. Lily’s forced smile gradually fade away as she watched her friend walk to the dancefloor. She turned back to her table. Her mind trailed back to Mila. How she grew up around Mila in the orphanage… And she even told her to her face today that she hates her. How can a woman hates her own produce just because of what her father did? Does she have to be accountable for her father’s crime?
If at all anyone would make her accountable, must it be her mother? She had been deep in thought for the past few hours, she can’t keep on like this. She needs to get over this.
She then told the bartender before her to get her a drink, once it was before her, she began to pour it into a cup and drink. She knew at some point that she was supposed to stop drinking but stopping would mean that she would start to think again so so kept on drinking until her sight became blurry. She felt heavy and start seeing things in double.
She hoped that Ella would come soon and help her out of here. She planned on remaining seated until Ella comes around but a few minutes after she had remained on the chair, heavily drunk, she suddenly puked to the table. That got the attention of many who immediately excused her.
Ella felt bad for messing up the space, she managed to stand but was staggering. At the end, a hand held onto hers and asked, “where do you want to go?”
“Please help me to the toilet… I need to clean up,” Lily managed to say. She was trying to bring her senses under control but it was hard. She didn’t have a clear image of the person holding onto her, she didn’t know if she can trust this person but from the voice of the person, she could perceive that this was a man. .
She then felt herself saunter across the club with this man, after few minutes had passed, the man said, “that direction is the female’s toilet, I’m not permitted to go in.”
“Oh.. thank you,” Lily walked inside and staggered across the female toilets. Instead of cleaning up, she rested her hands on the sink and lowered her heavy head. She even forgot what she came there to do.
When the man who was standing outside waited for more than twenty minutes, he became a little worried so he hoped to see a random woman who would come around, he planned on telling the woman to help check on Lily inside as he didn’t want to break the rules of a male entering female’s toilet.
But after another five minutes had passed, he didn’t see any woman. Hence, his worry increased so he broke the rules and walked inside. It didn’t take much time to find Lily dosing on the sink.
“Are you done?” He asked but when she wasn’t responding, he held her hand and pulled her away from the toilet in an attempt to walk her out but Lily suddenly curled her body around him, hugging him dearly and crying on his shoulders.
The man patted her back and after a few seconds, he carried her like a father would carry his daughter and helped her out of the club.
Lily suddenly noticed she was outside of the club and that she was being carried away, she suddenly got down from the man’s arm and pushed him away, “kidnapper!” She then sped back to the club but before she could get to the entrance, she fell.
The man walked up to her and said gently, “I’m not a kidnapper. I’m only trying to help.”
Lily set her gaze on him but it was so blurry, she couldn’t really see him clearly, all of a sudden, it looked like as if the dream she used to have was a reality and that the man before her was the one who used to fuck her.
“Are you the one that fucked me here many years ago here?” The environment of the club suddenly looked like the one she used to see in her dream.
It took a while before the man responded, “so I guess you are the woman whom my competitors use to drug me then, right? You ruined my life by forcing me to have sex with you.”
Lily was trying hard to make a meaning of what he was saying, all of a sudden, she became sober. It’s like a scale fell off her eyes. She suddenly saw the person before her clearly, it was Alexander.
“Mr. Alexander!” She suddenly stood upright but looking at herself, she felt ashamed for how messed up she was.
“Have I said something off, sir?” She asked. She couldn’t make a sense of all she had just said.
“You confessed.” He answered.
Confess? She was very confused. “sir … Please don’t mind whatever I said… I’ve not been myself since…”
“Since you find out whom your mother is,” he interrupted, “I know but you just confessed that you are the one my enemies use to drug me many years ago.”
“I?” She asked shockingly. “Sir, I got myself drunk. Don’t mind my words at all.”
When she saw how awkward the situation is, she added, “sir… Didn’t you say you already found out the woman that ruined your marriage years ago?”
“Perhaps, my finding is wrong.” Alexander said.
She quickly confessed, “I guess I’m only communicating my dream. I dream often that I have sex with a man at the club many years ago. But I’ve never been at the club in the past twelve years, sir. I’m telling the truth.”
“Even if you were lying, it’s too late for me to be angry with you.” Alexander said, “I don’t care anymore if you were or were not the woman who drugged me and made me have sex with her six years ago.”
“Oh!” Lily was shocked at his words, “so Mr. Alexander, you don’t mind whatever I said, right?”
“Yes.” Alexander answered. Lily heaved a sigh of relief. She thought he would go hard on her cause of what he said but turns out he didn’t bother much about that anymore. Could it because his wife is dead or is there another reason why he suddenly didn’t bother anymore? Lily didn’t know what to assume.
“You vomited publicly, try not to drink too much in public,” he advised gently.
“Sure, sir. I just wasn’t myself,” Lily responded. On remembering Ella, she quickly said, “I need to go and meet my friend inside, sir.”
“You once asked if I’ll like to marry you?” He said.
