CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN
IN the operating room with the lights on indicating the operation was being carried out, stood Adriel with a very confused look on his knees. His long legs were no longer able to support his burly body. His gaze was blank, the two people he loved so much entered the operating room at the same time.
His memory fell on the doctor’s words a few minutes ago.
…
“We have to get the baby out, the amniotic fluid is dry. Plus, Mrs. Hana shock attack is getting worse. We have to deal with this quickly.” One doctor finished speaking, another doctor came to ask for his approval to perform the operation.
Mr. David is bleeding very badly, two bullets penetrated his growth and one hit an important organ, blood supplies for the patient have been sent here. So I want to ask the guardian’s approval, the patient’s condition is very serious.”
One of the accompanying nurses handed Adriel two operating approval documents, one in Hana’s name and the other in David’s name, which he had to sign immediately.
His hands suddenly trembled.
In all his life he had never been so afraid of just signing a treaty. In fact, he was never this nervous when he signed a tender document worth up to trillions that would hold the fate of his company if the tender failed. His hands had never trembled so much to hold a pen that didn’t even weigh ten grams. He will sign a dossier that becomes a covenant between the life and death of his two loved ones. The brother and the wife, or is it still appropriate for Adriel to call Hana like that.
Finally the file was inscribed with Adriel’s signature.
The doctor who was treating the younger brother gently patted Adriel’s shaking shoulder.
“We will do it as best we can, now your job is only to ask for help from God.”
…
It wasn’t half an hour when the operating light came on but Adriel couldn’t think straight anymore. Two lives? No, even three lives were fighting in there.
His body slumped with his head propped against the plain white wall. Then what now? He had signed the hospital file, where he was ready to give up if one or worse three lives could not be saved.
Stupid.
A very chaotic body and mind now made Adriel even more depressed. Without him knowing, one drop, two drops of tears began to fall. The first cry after she reached adulthood, she was never as desperate as she is now. He had promised himself not to cry so easily.
But this time her tears betrayed her.
When he received disappointment from his father for losing the tender, he could swallow the disappointment and pain whole. He never thought that Hana who he had considered as a parasite in his family could have such a big effect on him. He couldn’t even taste half his life.
“God’s retribution is painful.” He said softly, his hands drooping limply. God did repay his actions, not Hana. Hana is too gentle to do cruel things. “I should be the one who was given the punishment, why did things become complicated like this. Hana, David, please endure. Please forgive me.”
With a belief that is already on the verge of giving up. This time Adriel humbled himself to ask God for help.
“Save those three lives god, I won’t ask for anything. If you give us the same life, I hope David will still be my Brother. I promise I won’t sue or do anything bad to Hana, even if she hates me to the end -bone marrow. Because I’m unforgivable.”
Adriel has been waiting for almost three hours but the light hasn’t gone out yet, his eyes are red from crying all this time.
From another direction, a person in a wheelchair came in with another person pushing his wheelchair.
“Adriel.” Rita touched Adriel’s knee gently until the chaotic man lifted his face.
“Rita? I’m sorry, I’m really sorry.”
Rita looked at Farrell who was beside her now.
“Calm down Adriel, we wish them both the best. Now is not the time to blame yourself, because it’s useless.” Farrell sat down beside Adriel.
“I’ve called uncle, maybe it will come soon. Please be strong, where is your arrogant and arrogant attitude?”
Adriel was just silent, his blank gaze only focused on the operating room lights that were still on, he even ignored Tamara’s call that just came shaking his body.
“Adriel? Adriel love to hear mommy. Adriel?”
Adriel didn’t answer, his ears seemed to be completely closed, the only ones in the shadows now were his brother and Hana. Tamara who saw Adriel like that immediately burst into tears and hugged Adriel’s body which kept shaking.
Not long after, police officers arrived with one security officer who reported and contacted the police.
One officer held up an arrest document.
“We from the police, received a report that if you go on a rampage and carry a firearm, do you have a permit for possession of a weapon?”
“Adriel?” Tamara called back until Adriel now averted his gaze, he shook his head slowly.
“You were also arrested on charges of assault, the parents of the victim reported the suspect on behalf of Adriel Vikrama.”
“What do you mean sir? The one you consider the victim is also a suspect in the assault on my second child and don’t forget the sister-in-law and his friends.” Jeffran spoke, he certainly did not accept if the child was made a suspect.
“You can explain it at the police station, we have been given an arrest warrant. The defendant has the right to be accompanied by a lawyer, several witnesses can also testify. For now, we are holding Adriel Vikrama.” One officer lowered his head slightly and walked over to help Adriel to his feet, a pair of handcuffs now ready to be attached to his wrists.
“No! My son is innocent! You caught the wrong person!” Tamara screamed hysterically when the handcuffs were successfully attached.
“Sorry miss, this is the decision of our superiors. We are just doing our job, you can accompany if you want.”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m going, there’s no way Adriel would do that.” Tamara sobbed by cupping the face of the child who was expressionless and without resistance.
His feet were about to go after the police officer was about to take him but it was just as the operating room opened and his ears caught a sound.
Baby cry.
Adriel stopped.
His consciousness seemed to return, with teary eyes he looked away. From NôvelDrama.Org.
“Can I see my son for a second?”
One of the officers nodded.
Slowly he walked over to a nurse who was holding the tiny baby in her hands, a healthy and very cute baby, a very strong baby. Like his board. The baby boy was moving restlessly.
The baby just sobbed, didn’t cry too loudly. Adriel with his hand cuffed stroked the baby’s eyebrows with his index finger slowly not wanting to hurt. Mixed feelings, emotional, happy, disappointed, happy. He was happy to see the little angel who had survived his death, but at the same time his heart felt like it was being torn apart.
“If only you were my son. I should have aced you from the start with your Mama, that’s only if. Only if.” A small whisper then kissed the chubby cheek softly. “How’s his Mama doing?” he asked the nurse.
“mrs. Hana’s condition has stabilized, only recovery is left. He is still under the influence of drugs.”
Adriel’s mind was relieved.
He stared back at the baby’s face and it made his heart pound, my dear. Possible. My little angel. Possible. And now there is only the word possible.
He walked back leaving the baby, Adriel stopped.
“Mommy after this please take good care of Hana, don’t blame her. She never does anything wrong, and pray that David can reunite with us again. He should be able to see his baby.”
Tamara and Jeffran frowned in confusion.
“What do you mean Adriel?” Jeffran asked.
“Rita will tell everything, and mommy. I will tell mommy on the way. Rita, I hope you can stay beside Hana.”
Adriel and Tamara are now walking out of the hospital, their heads bowed deeply. Everyone else at the hospital is shocked to find the Vikrama family’s eldest now walking in handcuffs.
