Chapter 477 We've Got Nothing To Do With The Bai Family

Chapter 477 We've Got Nothing To Do With The Bai Family

"Okay." Jade nodded. She patted Jean's shoulder and told her,"Take your time, dear. Eat your soup

and savour the taste. I'll be back in a while."

"Okay," Jean nodded in affirmative. She kept on drinking her soup even as she glanced at Zed and his

mother go into a corner with a smile.

The two of them came into the living room where Sean was sitting on the couch watching TV.

He cast a swift, cursory glance at them and turned his attention back to the TV, without asking them

anything.

"What is it, Zed? What do you wanna say?" Jade asked her son directly without any formalities.

"Jean and I discussed about it, and we decided that if Father and you want to stay over for a few more

days, then we'll be glad to have you over," Zed replied with his eyes fixed on Jade.

"What made you change your mind? I thought you were worried that we might disturb your privacy?"

Jade asked in surprise. It was unusual to see her son change a decision so quickly.

"To be honest, Mother, this is Jean's idea. She wants you two to stay for a few more days." Zed frankly

told her the truth. "Look, I wanted you to leave because you kept nagging us about having a baby, and I

was worried that it would add to the burden that Jean was carrying in her emotions. But just now, I saw

the two of you getting along so well that even I was envious. You know that she lost her mother in her

childhood. I think it will be good for her to have you stay and take care of her. And I will feel more at

ease knowing that someone is watching out for her."

"I can stay if you want, Zed. But what is going on? Why is this Moore guy staying here too?" Jade said

with apparent disapproval. "When your father and I are gone, then Jean will live in this house with himBelonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

alone. A young woman and a young man alone in one house. Are you sure you're okay with that?"

Jade was really worried and suspicious.

"Mother, there is nothing to worry about." Zed burst out laughing. "Moore is a very good friend and we

both trust him very much. He is quite a gentleman, if I may say so myself. Besides, Jean's car ran into

him and he had to stay in the hospital for a very long time. He just got out of hospital a few days ago

and is not really recovered yet. We both thought it was best for him to stay over so that he can

recuperate and we can feel less guilty of hurting him by taking care of him."

Hearing Zed's explanation, Jade's face softened. "Nevertheless, son, you've got to be more cautious in

today's world. And no! Don't say that I am nagging. The human heart is complicated and hard to

understand. Even if you do trust him, you should be more careful."

"Okay, Mother. I will be." Zed smiled helplessly and then changed the topic. "Hey, you know what? I ran

across Edna today."

He couldn't have carried on with the subject anymore.

"What?" Just as he had expected, Jade was shocked to hear the news. Her expression immediately

changed so many times that even Sean who was attentively watching TV turned around and looked at

her with a frown.

"How did you two meet? What happened?" With quite some difficulty, Jade calmed herself down

enough to ask for details.

"I met her on the street. She told me to say hi to you." Zed was in no mood to tell the whole story to his

parents about the car accident. They would only get worried and he wasn't in a mood to explain.

Between Jean getting pregnant and his mother being prejudiced against Moore, there was enough on

their palates already and he didn't have to add to the confusion.

The best way to maintain peace and order would be to entirely omit the incident.

"Say hi to me? She? That hypocrite!" Jade sneered immediately when she heard the sentence.

Evidently, for her, such a story sounded implausible.

"Mother…" Seeing his mother get so pissed with Edna, he asked with concern,"What is going on

between the two of you? You have been mad at her for years. And every time you hear her name, you

get so furious. Why does that happen?"

Zed should have known better than to ask such a question and he was regretting it as soon as he did,

because the air between seemed to turn solid the instant he put it forward.

Jade's anger aggravated and her sneer was audible instead of being simply visible. And she wasn't

looking at Zed anymore. Instead, she turned her back on him and then suddenly, ran upstairs angrily.

The whole thing happened within a fraction of a minute and Zed was completely astounded to see it.

He had known that his mother and Edna had been friends quite a while back. But then something had

happened and their relations had gotten strained. From then on, she never talked about her any more

and he had never asked the reason.

This was the first time he had asked why since his childhood, and he hadn't expected his mother to

overreact like this.

It seemed as if the problem they had between them was something far beyond his imagination.

Otherwise, he knew the kind of person his mother was. She wouldn't have held a grudge for such a

long time.

'Shit! If Mother knows who Moore is, then…'

Zed groaned. His head seemed to be spinning and was aching terribly from such thoughts. He rubbed

his aching temples remorsefully.

"Zed, don't ever mention this to your mother again." Sean had already turned off the TV. Seeing his son

so troubled and distressed, he frowned but didn't explain. Instead, he simply gave a simple advice.

Zed, who was busy looking at the floor, suddenly seemed rejuvenated.

It was so simple! Why hadn't he thought of it before? His father was there and must know what had

happened!

His mother wouldn't talk about it, but his father might... He should have asked him before.

"Father…" Zed's face turned cheerful as he glanced at Sean and asked,"Do you know why Mother fell

out with Edna all those years ago? Why can't they reconcile even after so many years? I mean I know

Mother is a bit stubborn but she is not that cruel or narrow-minded. And Edna sent her regards to

Mother today. Why is it that Mother remains angry with her?"

"Angry..." A complicated expression appeared on Sean's face. "If your mother ever met her once again,

she would run up and slap her on the face."

Zed was so shocked to hear from Sean that the problem was even more serious than he had

anticipated.

Jean had just finished eating and walked into the living room. She happened to overhear Sean's words

just as she walked inside. Watching Sean with extreme surprise, she went ahead to stand by Zed's

side, looking curiously at her father-in-law.

Sean saw their reaction and sighed. "Anyway, all you should remember is this: If you see Edna, walk

away! If you really want to stay away from grief, keep away from that woman!"

"Father, I don't understand! Is she a monster or something? Do we really need to be so afraid of her?"

Jean couldn't help it anymore and had to ask now.

"You'd better listen to me. It is for your mother's sake too. You stay away from Edna if you don't want to

hurt your mother." Sean was indecisive whether to tell them more or not.

They could see that Sean wasn't joking and they glanced at each other with intrigue. What could've

happened all those years ago?

Since they had met Edna today because of Moore, odds were they would be seeing her quite a lot

these days.

What they were most worried about now was that Edna had agreed to account for the accident to

Moore tomorrow. And Moore was staying in this house. What would happen then?

Zed's and Jean's expression changed.

"Father, what happened between them?" Zed watched Sean and asked again. "I know you don't want

to mention it, but I am really worried after seeing Mother so angry. Besides, I don't want to keep a

secret from you too. Do you still remember the lost son of the Bai family?"

"We've got nothing to do with the Bai Family. Why do you mention them right now?" Sean frowned and

stared at Zed.

When everything had happened, Zed was really small. Chances are, he wouldn't have remembered

anything about it. The Bai Family's son was lost and the Qi Family was in the Imperial Capital at that

time. They had helped them search for him.

So how could Sean forget it?

"Moore is the lost son of the Bai family." Zed heaved a deep sigh and finally told him with a gloomy

expression.

"What did you say?!" Sean was shocked and couldn't believe what he was hearing. He asked Zed to

repeat his words in a trembling voice.

Zed nodded sorrowfully, confirming what he had said.

Sean finally took in the information and closed his eyes for a while.

When he opened his eyes again, he asked with a complicated expression,"Does the Bai family know

about it?"
