Chapter 294 Who This Fiend Is
Chapter 294 Who This Fiend Is
"Oh, mom, back then, it was a piece of unconfirmed news. But now, I can assure you that I have found
the partner." Shirley stared at Joy with a complacent look and continued,"Since someone has agreed to
support me in the form of partnership, you will favor me as CEO of the company. Am I right?"
"Of course, I will. The old shareholders will surely agree to elect you as CEO of our company too, since
you have put your cards on the table and gained support from such a powerful figure. Shirley, I
disagreed with your proposal for acting as CEO before because it was really infeasible at that time. It
really is not like showingpartiality towards Winner. After all, Winner is the sole male heir of the Wen
Family. In addition to that, he is the only legitimate heir of our family."
Embarrassment was evident on Joy's face, but she tried her best to explain it.
"Mom, I know and I can understand." Knowing that her mother would support her now, Shirley felt
happiness wash over her. Together, they started to walk ahead.
Back in Jean's ward, Jean and Moore were having a conversation. "At times, we really can't force
ourselves to do something against our wills," said Jean while she smirked at Moore.
Deep down, she suspected that this marriage would bring her nothing but humiliation. She wanted to
get out of it as soon as possible.
"Jean, I don't think there is any point in saying anything more." Moore sighed and continued,"But you
need to know I will always be there to support you, no matter what decision you take."
Hearing this, Jean smiled feeling thankful and spoke. "I know, Moore, and I am very thankful to you."
Life was hard for Jean but knowing such a friend existing gave her a relief.
She knew Moore was the type of guy to support her through thick and thin. This knowledge eased off
her worries.
In front of him, she could talk about everything without feeling restricted. He would never judge her,
which was the best part of their relationship.
Moore spoke first to break the awkward silence brought by this sentimental talk.
"It is almost time for supper. Let's go!" Jean looked up and smiled.
Seeing her smile, Moore swore inside his head that he would always help her fight the obstacles in her
life.
As a friend, he wanted to protect her from the toxic people.
"Okay. These days, I'm always hungry, so I can never say no to food." While rubbing her belly, she
flashed him an embarrassing smile.
Unconsciously, her hand touched the envelope which had been hidden inside her pocket. Suddenly,
her mood changed and her face scrunched into a completely different expression. Then, she glanced
at Moore and said,"Can you wait for a moment? I am going to the bathroom first."
"Okay," Moore nodded in agreement. His gaze followed Jean as she walked into the washroom.
Reaching inside, she looked around and found that no one was nearby. Then, she shut the door of the
toilet gently and took the envelope out carefully. With her lips pursed, she was filled with
embarrassment.
'Joy and Shirley came here to ask for money as if I owed them something, ' thought Jean. From now
onward, it was her duty to become extra careful. She could definitely not let them know that Zed had
given her such an enormous amount of cash.
Carrying the money with her seemed like a bad idea. 'Now where can I hide this?' Confusion was
evident on Jean's puzzled face.
Feeling anxious, Jean paced back and forth praying for an idea to pop. After racking her brain, her
eyes suddenly gleamed with an idea. When she looked up, she saw a big unused drain pipe over her
head.
Standing on her tiptoe, Jean tried to grasp the pipe. At last, she managed to hide the envelope inside it.
Ensuring she hid it well, she clapped her hands together in an attempt to clear the dirt away from her
hands.
For now, this seemed to be the best place to hide the cash. She was certain that nobody would expect
a large sum of money in this dirty place.
Before she left the bathroom, Jean thoroughly washed her hands not wanting to give anyone any clues.
Coming outside, she noticed Moore was out of sight, so she walked out of the ward.
As expected, Moore was waiting for her on the aisle. Judging from his back, Jean noticed that he had
an amazing profile.
She thought he would look more charming and attractive once the heavily wrapped gauze would get
removed.
A smile crept on his face when Moore saw Jean walking towards him. Then, both of them trudged
towards the canteen walking side by side.
From the faraway corner, Toby still watched Jean from the corner of his eyes. He was shocked to see
Jean so comfortable with Moore. While he was wondering about their friendship, his phone buzzed
from his pocket. Picking it up, he noticed the call was from Mr. Zed.
Toby knew that Zed would instruct him to do something. But before going to Zed's ward, Toby wanted
to figure out where these two were headed to. Once he was sure they were settled in the canteen, he
galloped towards Zed's ward.
On arriving, both Gregory and Terry were stunned to see Toby. Immediately, the two of them took a
step aside making place for him.
Toby entered the ward and walked over to the bed, trembling with fear. Before reporting his findings, he
greeted him respectfully,"Mr. Zed... ".
Zed, who was dozing, opened his eyes upon hearing Toby's voice. He glared at the respectful and
humble Toby, denouncing him with fury,"Toby, tell me. Did you forget to report me something
yesterday?"
"I..." Overburdened with fear, Toby stammered and didn't know what to say. At last, he added
resolutely,"Mr. Zed, there was really something unimportant that I didn't report to you yesterday. I
thought all those were not important, so it was better to not bother you."
"Bother me? What do you mean? Toby, you are very clear how dangerous our situation is. Our enemy
is walking around somewhere. So far, we still don't know who this fiend is!We are even unsure if the
fiend is male or female. But the only certain thing is that the person is very familiar with me and knows
a lot about me. By now, do you still think that we can afford to be even a little careless?"
"No, I dare not." Turning pale, poor Toby looked frightened by Zed's abuses and his furious glare.
"Miss Tang came to the hospital yesterday. Knowing that she is the most trustworthy person in your life,
I didn't report her visit to you. Besides, Ron and Maranda also came here to visit Mrs. Jean. John, Mrs.
Jean's colleague, came here too yesterday. He was the one who found Mrs. Jean while she fainted and
it was him who sent her to this hospital. At that time, he asked Maranda to keep her company, but his
request was declined by Mrs. Jean. And... And only Calvin came to visit Mrs. Jean alone."
With fear looming over him, Toby now looked wet with sweat.
"Calvin..." Zed exclaimed and his facial expression suddenly turned weird.
"Afterward, Moore, who is still in hospital, showed up. He has been keeping her company since Mrs.
Jean was sent to this hospital." Discerning Zed's slightly jealous facial expression, Toby was scared out
of his wits and tried hard to hold his breath.
"Moore?" With the mention of this name, Zed's eyes became blank with fury.
"Since Mrs. Jean's hospital stay, Moore has often visited her ward. Just now... the two of them went to
the canteen to dine together." Knowing that revealing was better, Moore uttered everything he knew all
at once.
"Moore..." Zed repeated that name with a cold look. "Without me, her life seems to be wonderful," said C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
Zed with a smile that looked pained.
Thinking it was best to stay quiet, Toby stood there with a closed mouth.
"Well. You should truthfully report to me no matter what happens! I want to know everything." Staring at
Toby with a look of disapproval, Zed instructed,"Anyone around Jean might be the fiend. So you have
to keep an eye on her."
"Yes, Mr. Zed." Toby replied hastily.
"Okay, you can get out now!" Waving at Toby to leave, Zed closed his eyes.
Not wanting to hear any more scoldings, Toby rapidly strode out of the ward without sparing a second
to wipe the sweat off his forehead.
"Toby..."
Gregory and Terry called him out with a sort of concern when they saw that his forehead was beaded
with sweat.
"Shush..." Toby made a shush gesture as soon as he heard their call. He discerned their care for him
and said,"I am okay. Be more alert and take care of Mr. Zed. Don't give the fiend any chance to hurt
him. Got it?"
"Yes!" Gregory and Terry replied courteously with great respect.
Toby nodded to them, turned back and headed towards the canteen.
"Brother, did Mr. Zed scold Toby? He looked very scared. Do you think he made a mistake while
keeping an eye on Mrs. Jean?"
This question was put forth by Terry who looked seriously concerned.
"Don't be so curious about everything. Just concentrate on what you have to do if you don't want any
scoldings from Mr Zed." Gregory warned Terry seriously while giving him a death glare.
