Chapter 209 An Unreliable Woman
Chapter 209 An Unreliable Woman
"Zed......" Looking guilty and innocent, Jean walked up to her husband and said, "I forgot about our
weekend plan with Jesse......"
"It doesn't matter. Now that you remember, it makes no difference." Zed kissed Jean on the forehead
as he walked by, drying his hair.
"But......" Jean bit her lips, embarrassed of what she was about to say. "I have actually made a previous
appointment with my colleague. I promised her that I would accompany her this weekend......"
Jean was afraid to tell Zed that she was going to accompany Maranda to a match making date. She
was almost sure that it would upset Zed.
"Accompany her?" He looked at Jean and asked. "Why would your colleague need you to accompany
her?" Zed didn't understand the need to be there for her colleague.
"She is kind of my friend and we made plans to hang out this weekend......" Jean felt a little
embarrassed as she replied.
"I see. Okay! If you have already promised her then it would be inappropriate for you to stand her up!"
Zed really felt happy for Jean that she had now started making friends at work.
For the whole time since they have gotten married, he barely saw anyone close to her.
If this person was reliable and trust-worthy, then this weekend could......
"How do you plan to make it work with both appointments?" Zed looked at Jean and asked.
"How about this? We set off on Saturday and this Friday evening, I will be with my colleague." Jean felt
that it was a fair arrangement and was positive about it.
"I suppose so! It's just for one night. But, do you think you can make it? Aren't you going to be too
stressed out? I mean, hanging out with your colleague Friday night and then going out with us the
following day......" Zed was a little worried that this weekend might tire her out.
"Oh, don't worry about me. I have more than enough energy and I'm really excited for both." Jean
figured that she could easily manage both days so she answered real quick.
After all, it was the first time that Maranda asked her and she seemed pretty desperate and in need of
her help.
She really didn't want to turn her down.
She wasn't sure if she could really be of help to Maranda, but as long as she was there for moral
support, it would make Maranda feel better.
"Okay! It's settled then." Zed nodded, he grabbed Jean and locked her in his arms, stared at her
affectionately. "My love, don't you think it's time you had a baby for me? You are always insecure about
me going around town with other women. If there was a baby in our family, I think you can be totally at
ease!"
Jean didn't expect that the minute they finished discussing something important, Zed would
immediately become flirty.
She couldn't help blushing and stuttered "I...... I am not ready......"
"Oh please. Not ready for what?" Zed teased her by breathing gently on her neck, "We just let it run its
course. As long as we don't use protection, it will naturally happen. Whenever the baby comes, we will
be ready for it, what do you say? Don't you look forward to becoming a mother?"
Jean looked at Zed blankly. Then she sighed inwardly and just nodded.
Zed was always pretty insistent on the baby issue. He brought it up pretty often.
If she continued to deny him, it could cause an issue between them, especially on his side.
But, was she really ready for a baby?
They were still young and their marriage had just started to go well.
If a baby came into their lives now, wouldn't it have a major impact on their closeness and intimacy?
"Don't overthink it. As long as we have our baby, our love will only grow stronger and more meaningful.
I guarantee that you won't regret it." Zed pulled Jean over and grabbed his much treasured wife, gently
squeezing her into his chest.
Jean couldn't help but give in. She just closed her eyes and fell into it, body and soul.
'Never mind. Just let everything go.
And enjoy the moment!'
The next day when Jean arrived at her office, she noticed that Maranda was unusually happy. She was
pretty upbeat, greeting everyone and even sang in her seat.
"Is there anything special today? You are unusually happy. Did something happen last night?" Jean
asked with a smile as she put away her purse.
"Jean, do you know what my parents said to me when I told them that I would be going to a match
making date this weekend?" Maranda was so excited and she grabbed Jean as she asked.
"What did they say?" Jean was curious
"They said that I am a thoughtful child. And if I behave myself, it won't matter if I liked that guy or not,
as long as I agree to get along with him, they won't be so strict on me......"
Maranda said happily.
Be strict? Such a simple thing could make Maranda so happy.
Jean frowned and asked, "Maranda, could you tell me why you choose this company? There are so
many companies owned and managed by your family. But why did you choose to work here?"
"Ahh, yes of course. My parents have secretly secured a bunch of small companies for me. They
wanted me to practice my skills in a place where no one knew me. And as you can see, no one around
here really knows me. I was not used to it at first. But now if you want me to resign, I sure as hell am
not walking away that so easily!" Maranda got puffed with pride all of a sudden.
Jean was a little speechless. She opened her mouth but nothing came out. She looked at Maranda and
shook her head. It turned out that she had thought too highly of Maranda.
She originally thought that Maranda was different from other rich brats. She thought that Maranda
chose this company because she didn't want her parents to do everything for her. That she wanted to
succeed on her own. As it turned out, she followed her parents' arrangement after all.
This could also explain why she was so fond of John before and now she had to accept the match
making appointment arranged by her parents.
'Maranda, you are so obedient.'
It would be a lie if Jean was not disapointed.
Jean felt the difference between her expectations in life and what reality actually was. Thinking of it
made her sad.
Maranda was still immersed in her own happiness and didn't notice that something was off.
When she calmed down, she noticed Jean had stayed quiet for quite a long time and a touch of hidden
sadness played on her face.
Time flew, and the days passed by quietly.
As she had promised Maranda, Jean prepared ahead of time and did quite an effort on her outfit. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
When she rushed into the club, Maranda and the match maker man were already waiting.
What surprised her was that besides Maranda and a wealthy looking playboy, there was another young
man sitting on the couch, smoking. He was dressed casually.
Jean was out of breath and embarrassed, she apologized, "Sorry I'm late."
"No, you weren't late at all" Maranda stood up and welcomed her. A complex look flashed on her face,
she made a forced smile and said, "Jean, your look today is...... quite unique......"
Jean looked at her outfit and laughed.
Of course, she dressed up before she came out tonight.
Bright colors, blonde curly hair and heavy makeup with some deliberate rosy smears.
She looked like an unreliable woman. The kind you pay for company.
Tonight was about Maranda, but if she had such an unreliable woman by her side, doing unreliable
things then they can save themselves some time. No need to bother for explanations.
Since it was Maranda's idea for Jean to sabotage this match making, Then she was going to sabotage
it from top to bottom and all the way through.
