After Being Cheating

Chapter 267 I would've Destroyed the Wedding Ceremony Myself

Chapter 267 I would've Destroyed the Wedding Ceremony Myself

She heard that Mrs. Lola was speaking in a courteous way over the phone, which proved that the old

lady was indeed someone in a high place of esteem. The female receptionist now felt lucky and

relieved that she hadn't offended her.

"Okay, grandma, please wait a moment, I'm calling Daniel right now!" said Lola.

Hanging up, Melody didn't say anything else. But the receptionist was now even more afraid of

displeasing her, and she immediately served her tea and started chatting with her.

At that time, Daniel was having a meeting on the 22nd floor, but when he received Lola's call, he

instantly dismissed it.

Then, together with Spark and another two secretaries, Daniel picked up his pace and headed to the

building's ground floor.

"Hello, Mr. Si!"

"Good morning, Mr. Si!"

"Hello, Mr. Si!"

... All the workers they met greeted Daniel, one by one.

After about three minutes, the female receptionist saw Daniel appear on the ground floor. She felt even

more lucky that she hadn't offended the old lady. "Hello, Mr. Si!"

Daniel nodded to the receptionist. He then walked up to Melody, and with a deep respect, said, "Dear

great grandma, why have you come here?"

When she saw Daniel there, Melody became angry and tapped the ground with her crutch. Ignoring his

status before the other workers, she scolded him in a stern voice, "Why wouldn't I come here? If I

hadn't come, were you still going to keep wasting Jane's time?"

Spark looked at the expensive sandalwood crutch, and his heart trembled with Melody's each tap; he

was worried that hundreds of dollars might be destroyed in an instant because of her powerful tapping

on the floor.

Her words dumbfounded everyone present around them. Some of the passing-by staff even changed

the direction they were heading to, confused.

They couldn't believe that the old lady had the nerve to talk with their boss like that.

Daniel understood that Melody just wanted to protect Janet, and he didn't become angry; instead, he

put on a smile, and said, "Great grandmother, please don't be angry with me. Come on, let me escort

you to my office."

Under everyone's shocked looks, Daniel personally raised Melody from the sofa and led her to the

elevator.

The receptionist took one more careful look at Melody. She was determined to keep her face in her

mind at all times, in case she ever forgot about it when she came back next time.

Spark was amused to see the other people's incredible looks on their faces. He didn't feel shocked at

all. That was because he had known quite well that this was actually Mr. Si's beloved woman's great

grandmother and that he, of course, had to make her happy at all costs!

Miss Qin pushed the CEO's exclusive elevator door button. When Melody and Daniel entered it, Spark

and the other secretaries took the other one next to it.

On the 88th floor

When the other secretaries in the department saw their boss coming out of his elevator and holding an

old lady by her arm, they all were shocked.

Especially Shirley; her face turned pale when she saw Melody.

'Janet's great grandmother...

That strict retired teacher, but why is she here...' pondered Shirley.

Before she could even have some more thoughts on it, a sharp killing glare was cast onto her. Shirley

was startled by it, and nearly knelt to the ground.

The killing glare had come from Melody. When she first saw Shirley, Melody really wanted to beat the

girl with her crutch.

She had initially thought that Shirley would be Janet's best friend forever, but she had someone

investigate the recent events and had got to know that Shirley was now not only Daniel's secretary, but

also his fiancee.

Melody sighed and thought in her mind, 'Jane is so stupid. How could she let her best friend betray her

like this and hook up with Daniel? Oh! Poor girl!'

"Miss Qin, please come in and serve us some tea!" instructed Daniel.

Daniel knew that Melody loved tea-leaves, and that she had also opened a restaurant in A Country for

Samuel.

Among all of his secretaries, Miss Qin was the only one who had learned the tea ceremony.

"Of course, Mr. Si!" replied Miss Qin.

Then three people entered the CEO's office. Shirley could now finally take a firm stand, and she wiped

the beads of sweat off her forehead, and felt really frightened...

Miss Qin was actually afraid of Melody too, but, after all, she had been Daniel's secretary for such a

long time, and she had learned how to adjust her emotions accordingly.

After Melody and Daniel sat down on the sofa, Miss Qin sat opposite to them and began to boil the

water in the kettle.

Melody hadn't come just to enjoy a cup of tea, and she went to the point straightforward. She said,

"Daniel, tell me what's on your mind lately."

Daniel grinned, and said, "Great grandmother, I love her."

He thought these words were good enough.

"Nonsense!" Melody suddenly got angry, and yelled at Daniel in a loud voice, which frightened Miss

Qin, making her almost drop the box of tea-leaves on the ground.

If the old lady hadn't mentioned about Jane on the ground floor, Miss Qin wouldn't have known who the NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.

woman that they were talking about actually was!

Miss Qin now supposed that Janet's great grandmother had come to get even with Mr. Si.

She thought that she'd better not listen to their conversation, and Miss Qin tried her best to concentrate

on her task of serving tea.

"Great grandmother, I'm telling you the truth. As you already might know, we were supposed to get

married three years ago." When Daniel brought up this subject, his smile disappeared.

Not because Melody's blame on him, but because he felt his heart ache. He started to wonder how had

he come so close to losing her forever.

"That only means that you loved her three years ago!" said Melody.

But Daniel didn't agree with her words, and said, "Great grandmother, I've always tried to restore our

former relationship. I hadn't done anything wrong to her, but despite of that she still considered that she

couldn't put her trust in me. I had initially hoped that if she apologized to me that I would forgive her.

But you already know that the girl is very stubborn..."

He continued, "Great grandmother, I just want her to apologize, or at least say something nice to me.

She's my daughter's mother, and of course that I love her, who else would I love?"

This was the first time that Miss Qin had heard Daniel speak so many words in private. He seemed to

love Janet very much, indeed.

Melody's anger then cooled down a little, but she wasn't so easily convinced by him yet. She then

asked, "What about Shirley Zheng sitting outside there? Don't try to fool me, young man! You're getting

married with her. If Jane hadn't come back in the nick of time, that woman might have been Mrs. Si

now!"

Daniel repeated Melody's words. "Great grandmother, I know, you're right. If Janet hadn't come back in

time, she indeed might have become Mrs. Si!"

Melody was perplexed.

Daniel smiled at her, and said, "But she had come back after all, right? And Shirley Zheng isn't Mrs. Si

either, because I truly had the confidence that Janet would eventually come back." The feelings of love

sparked between them had been true three years ago. As long as she had still loved him, even for just

a little bit, and in the same time had also still taken Shirley as being her best friend, Janet wouldn't

have beared the anger to see them getting married.

After Daniel explained himself, his strategy had been finally understood.

Miss Qin then poured the boiled Tie Guanyin* tea into two tea cups, and then placed them in front of

them.

(TN: Tie Guanyin, a sort of Chinese tea.)

Melody squinted at him, and asked, "What if Janet hadn't had come back at that moment?" She

grabbed the tea cup in her hands and smelled it's steam.

The gentle art of enjoying tea was to smell its aroma first, taste its flavor next, and in the end feel the

traces it left behind it.

Melody had to admit that this was really some good top shelf quality tea.

After Melody enjoyed her cup of tea, Daniel opened his mouth to answer her. He said, "If Jane hadn't

had showed up at that very moment, I would've destroyed the wedding ceremony myself." 'Then I

would have searched for her all over the world, and give her a heavy punch.

Even if it had taken my whole life to search for her, I still wouldn't have given up!

Luckily, she's back now...' thought Daniel, while grinning a smile.

"But didn't you mind hurting Shirley Zheng in the process?" Melody put down the empty tea cup. She

was very satisfied with Daniel's answer, and she thought that indeed she had kept a good eye on him!

When she mentioned Shirley, the look in Daniel's eyes became cold, and said, "She approached me by

her own free will, and she didn't care a bit about her friendship with Jane. Why should I care her

feelings?"

He had clearly seen how well had Janet treated Shirley in the past and what she had done for her.

But Shirley shouldn't have betrayed her best friend for a man who didn't love her at all. Daniel didn't

have or feel a speck of pity or guilt for such a woman.

Melody asked with curiosity, "I guess that she should have already known that she would be one of

your chess pieces on your board, right?"

She wanted to probe further, and see if Daniel had any sort of mercy on Shirley.

"Yes, and she had been, and still is, well aware about my love for Jane. But she was still willing to

become my pawn, and I guess that's the life that she chose to live!" Daniel spoke to Melody all of these

words in a peaceful tone, and devoid of any emotions in them whatsoever.
