That was hard to say.
I was annoyed to see Brenda and Evelyn, didn’t even want to go downstairs, turned back to my room and said, “You better get rid of them, or I’m leaving.”
Unexpectedly, before I could enter the room, Evelyn rushed up. “Christopher, look at this, I Royston…”
Evelyn’s voice trailed off as her eyes landed on me.
I didn’t want to see Evelyn, but since Evelyn had already mentioned me, I looked over. “What’s up? Can’t believe you’re so concerned about me now.”
“What are you doing here? You’ve got some nerve, still hanging around the Valence family even after the divorce…”
Evelyn tried to hide it, but I could still sense the jealousy and resentment in her tone.
“Evelyn Valence!”
Christopher’s tone turned cold. “I don’t want to remind you for the third time, she is still my wife.”
I said slowly, “We are still a married couple. Anyway, I am more suitable to be in the Valence family than you. Since you say I have no shame, what about you, shameless and faceless?”
“Nonsense!”
Evelyn glared at me, raising her chin. “Whether it’s Christopher or my father, they are the true members of t
family, the closest to me! What about me?”

Thinking of the scene I saw at the hotel yesterday, I felt nauseous, and said ambiguously, “Christopher, I’m not sure. But with Charlie, you two must be very close.”
Yesterday at the hotel probably involved a lot of intimacy.
My words were meant to provoke and test.
Perhaps out of guilt, Evelyn showed a hint of panic on her petite face, which she quickly covered with anger. “Hope Royston, what do you mean! Are you trying to smear the relationship between me and my father? Why is your mind so dirty!”
Originally, I was only ninety percent sure of the relationship between Evelyn and Charlie, but now Evelyn had given her the answer herself.
However, I wouldn’t act recklessly without solid evidence.
Furrowing my brows, I smiled and said, “What are you talking about, dirty or not, isn’t your father the most doting on

you as his stepdaughter? What’s wrong with us being close?”
Seeing Evelyn’s slightly strange expression, I pretended to cover my mouth. “Are you thinking that I’m suggesting something Inappropriate between you and your father? How could you even imagine such a disgusting and beyond belief thing!
“Hope Evelyn shouted angrily, before Brenda emerged from the elevator.
“Evelyn! Why are you getting so worked up over a little thing with Ms. Royston, acting like a baby. You should learn from Ms. Royston, be more composed, less agitated!”
While seemingly praising me, Brenda was actually telling Christopher how innocent Evelyn was and how scheming me
could be.
I wished that when I presented the evidence of Evelyn sleeping with her husband Charlie to Brenda, Brenda wouldn’t defend Evelyn like this.
I looked at Brenda with indifference. Just woke up yesterday and already so energetic today. Your health is really good, not at all like someone who has been in a coma for so many years.”
Originally just a casual remark, I didn’t expect Brenda to flinch.
Could it be that Brenda had actually been awake for a while, waiting for the right moment, when Christopher felt most indebted to her, to speak up for Evelyn?
If that was the case, Brenda was even more terrifying than I had imagined.
Brenda smiled faintly, her lips still pale. “It’s all thanks to Christopher’s filial piety. Although I’ve been lying in bed for
I’ve been well taken care of. That’s why I can trustfully hand Evelyn over to him.”
years,
My mouth twitched slightly, pretending not to catch Brenda’s meaning. “That’s good.”
Brenda, the third party who had intervened in someone else’s marriage, arranging Evelyn to be a third party in
someone else’s marriage.
Unfortunately, Evelyn seemed addicted to being a third party in someone else’s marriage, not even sparing Brenda’s
marriage.
After speaking, I prepared to return to my room.
“Ms. Royston.”
Brenda stopped me. “We’ve received some inexplicable photos related to you. We shouldn’t show them to Christopher behind your back, so you should come too.”
I furrowed her brow, sensing that it wasn’t good news.
Christopher casually put his hands in his pockets and said lightly, “Let’s talk downstairs. I hasn’t had breakfast yet.”
As they descended, Evelyn was eager to speak, but Christopher coldly glanced at her. “I said she hasn’t eaten breakfast

yet. What’s the rush?”
With a pat on my shoulder, he gestured for me to go eat.
Evelyn pouted in dissatisfaction, grunting. “You re still defending her! When you see the photos, you’ll know I’m doing this for your own good!”
“Enough, Evelyn.”
Experienced people are often more cunning. Brenda didn’t rush. “Let Ms. Royston go have breakfast first. Christopher, you haven’t eaten either, go quickly.”
I was indeed hungry and went straight to the dining room.
Barry instructed the servants to set up breakfast. Despite the Valence family’s wealth, Mr Valence was never extravagant, maintaining this habit at Valence Manor.
So, breakfast was just enough for two.
Fragrant bacon, fried eggs, sandwiches, pancakes, milk, and fruit.
“Do you like it?” Christopher asked with a slight pause in his actions as he watched me eat.
I subconsciously turned to look at Christopher, for a moment,I seemed to see indulgence in his eyes. I quickly averted my gaze. “Yes, the chef at Valence Manor is very skilled.”
“As long as you like it.”
Christopher smiled almost imperceptibly. “Let them make it for you every day from now on.”
A pang of sadness hit my heart, I tightened my grip on the fork, and casually said, “We’re getting divorced next month.”
Christopher also paused and was speechless.
The breakfast was eaten in silence.
After finishing the last piece of fruit on her plate, I put down my fork and grabbed a napkin. “Let’s go. They’re probably waiting to throw some dirt on me.”
Christopher had finished eating long ago, patiently waiting for me. “Don’t always think of them like that.”
“Christopher, let’s make a bet.”
I smiled and turned my head against the light to look at Christopher. “Let’s see if they’re going to smear me.”
Christopher lowered his gaze, they were sitting close, and in Christopher’s eyes, he could see my reflection. “What’s the wager?”
After thinking for a moment, I said calmly, “If they do, you make a move, and we’ll divorce tomorrow.”

It was just a matter of making a phone call for Christopher.
Christopher’s sharp features showed a hint of melancholy. “Is that how much you want to leave me?”
“Yes!
I looked at Christopher’s flawless features, the ones I had secretly admired many times, and nodded seriously.
