Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 664

Chapter 664

Hera wriggled out of Bernard's arms. A flicker of unease flashed across Bernard's handsome face as he asked her in a low voice, "Why didn't you tell me they're here?"

How would Bernard maintain his image in front of them in the future?

Hera was speechless. Bernard himself had kissed her to prevent her from speaking.

"Happy birthday, Mr. Killian," Samantha awkwardly said with a smile before pulling the string on the party popper.

"Happy birthday, Bernard," Shaun, Theo, and the others added while tugging on the strings of their party poppers as well.

After the party poppers went off, everyone stared at Bernard. They were waiting for him to say something so that the atmosphere wouldn't be so uncomfortable.

Aside from gazing at them coldly, Bernard said nothing. Everyone fell silent in the living room, making the atmosphere more awkward than ever.

"Are we staying back to watch the show?" Aaron couldn't help but timidly ask Shaun, who was standing beside him.

Shaun merely glared at Aaron as if asking whether he dared to watch even if Bernard was willing to give them a

show.

"It's getting late, so we'll go back first. Let's not disturb you lovebirds," Samantha said with a chuckle. She held Shaun's arm and led everyone out.

Hera and Bernard said nothing. It didn't take long for everyone to leave. Only the two of them remained awkwardly in the spacious living room with Tiramisu, who peeked its head out of the study.

"Then, shall we continue?" Hera asked after a long time while staring at the tiramisu cake on the table. She had spent a few hours baking this cake. It would be such a waste if they didn't have a single bite.

Bernard's eyes flashed when he heard her suggestion and immediately pinned her to the couch. Hera hurriedly pushed against his chest. "What are you up to?"

Bernard buried his face in her neck while peppering kisses all over. "Just as you said, we're continuing where we left off."

"I meant continue celebrating your birthday! We'll have some cake and look at your presents."

"You're the best present to me."

The next day, Hera's alarm rang exactly at 9:00 am. Bernard reached for the phone on the bedside to turn it off so that they could continue sleeping, but Hera already got up.

Bernard took in her groggy expression. "You should sleep more. I'll be with you."

As soon as she moved, Hera felt as if she had been run over by a bus. She was sore all over. However, she still persisted to get out of bed. "No way."Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

If she continued sleeping, she would end up not getting out of bed at all. Since she had no intention to continue sleeping, Bernard also didn't laze around in bed. They both washed up before having breakfast together.

"Let's have a look at the present I prepared for you." Hera led Bernard to the eastern wing. Two black gift boxes wrapped in ribbons sat on the table in the small office.

Bernard already had an idea of what was in the boxes while looking at them. He lifted Hera's chin and kissed her deeply.

"Open them and have a look" Hera pushed him aside.

Bernard stepped forward and untied the ribbons around the boxes. Each box had a special palm-sized container with two thumb-sized metal sheets with a gray hue.

He picked them up and examined them closely for a while. He recognized two elements. One of them was the world's most expensive element, californium. The other was tungsten, a metal that had the highest melting point.

They had vowed to collect two elements of the periodic table every year until they were done collecting all of the elements.
