CHAPTER 3
Traizle
“Do we have any orders to deliver?” I asked the owner.
I have three customers already, and I am hoping for more.
The owner shook her head. “None for now. Kelvin went to deliver the last order I had.” she answered.
I was about to say something when my phone rang suddenly. I got my phone to see who was calling, and it was Lyndon.
The doorbell chimed as I swiped the answer button on my phone
“I am Zarsuelo, the man who tried to order but got misled by someone,” a man named Zarsuelo said when he approached the counter. “And I am offended too.” he added.
I immediately looked at him. He went here because he thought I misunderstood him.
“I am the someone you are talking to.” He looked back at me.
His mad face turned to a surprised one. “You-you are the woman in the restaurant this morning,” he replied, while pointing his forefinger at me. “But yeah, I tried to order a while ago and you just ended the call by saying, ‘I am just doing some prank.'” He asked me, upset by what I did a while ago.
I don’t think he has the right to get mad. He tricked me last night, and I should be the one who is angry here, not him.
I nodded. “Yes, you are.” I answered, looking directly into his eyes.
“How can you say I’m just playing pranks?” He asked, folding his arms.
“Do you really not know?” I asked, arching my eyebrows at him.
He shook his head. “I would not come here acting like this if I knew.” he answered quickly.
I looked at the owner. She was also looking at me, confused by the situation we were in.
I sighed. “Last night…” I said and paused. “You called and ordered almost a hundred people’s food. I went to the place you told me to, but when I got there, I couldn’t reach you. I waited for almost an hour, but you did not show up. I wasted a lot of money, a*shole.” I continued.
He smiled shyly.
The a*shole smiled at me as he scratched his neck.
“I can say that it was really my fault last night,” he admitted. “I am not an a*shole. It is just that something came up, and I had to fix it. After that, I forgot I ordered something.” he added.
So, he forgot about it? What should I do with the money I squandered?
Can I just punch him?
My phone started ringing again. It looks like he ended the call and called again because I wasn’t answering him. So I answered the phone and walked away without looking at the a*shole.
“Why?” I asked.
“What happened? I heard your conversation a while ago. The man last night really went there? Do not punch or do something bad for you, okay?” He asked.
I snorted. “Of course I won’t,” I answered. “Why did you call?” I asked.
“I just wanted to ask, what time are you going home? Layzen kept on asking me, because he wanted to wait for you.” he replied.
I smiled. It seemed like Layzen really wanted to wait for me. “Tell him to not wait for me, just sleep without me. Lock the door before going to sleep.” I answered.
“Why can’t I wait for you? I wanted to experience the feeling of staying late and eating a midnight snack, too.” Layzen butted in on the other line.
“In short, he is just jealous of us.” Lyndon said, mocking Layzen.
I suppressed my laugh. “You still have class tomorrow, Layzen. We do that on Friday, okay?” I explained.
“Why can Lyndon sleep late while I can not?” Layzen complained.
“Because I am an adult already, while you are still a baby.” Lyndon answered.
“I am not a baby anymore!” Layzen commented angrily. “I am four already and studying. A baby can not do that.” he added, trying to explain his side.
“You are, when it comes to the three of us.” Lyndon said that made Layzen throw a tantrum.
“Lyndon, you better stop annoying him. If he cries, you are dead later,” I warned. “Just sleep without me. I will end this call now.” I added before ending the call.
I was about to go to the counter, but the a*shole blocked my way.
“You know how to tell someone when you are going to end a call, yet you ended the call without telling me.” He said, still complaining about what I did.
I glared at him. “Were you listening to our conversation?” I asked. “Don’t you think you are too nosy?” I added.
He nodded quickly. “Yes, I am listening, and yes, I am nosy. I am curious about you. I told you I saw you this morning at the restaurant and about the issue as well.” He responded.
“And so?” I answered.
He pouted. “Can you be nice for once? It is not fair to me. I am treating you well, but you are not doing the same thing.” He complained.
“Am I supposed to entertain you? I am a courier here, not an entertainer.” I answered.
“Is it because of what happened last night?” he asked.
“If it is, can you do something about it?” I answered.
He clapped his hands. “Of course! And I have already done something,” he answered proudly. “Nice timing.” he added, looking at the entrance.
A group of people entered the snack bar in seconds. They are all wearing formal suits. They even look at the man beside me while bowing a little.
I looked at him, smiling widely, like an idiot. “Stop staring, I might melt. I know I am handsome and I am not ashamed of it.” he boasted.
“Did you ask them to go here?” I asked.
“Yes,” he said, nodding. “The owner told me you lost a lot of money last night, and I know it is my fault. Actually, I tried to order again to treat some of them tonight, and nothing important got in my way. I did not forget about it either. That is why I came here. This is my way of apologizing for what happened. So, are we good now?” He added.
They said money can’t buy happiness, but mine can.
“Thank you.” I replied, smiling slightly to show my appreciation.
“That is also your expression after fixing the problem this morning. The attitude you showed me a while ago was also your expression with the girl and her boyfriend in the restaurant. You can easily change your expression depending on whom you are facing. When you gave us our order, you were smiling and thoughtful at the same time.” He said.
“Were you observing me as well?” I asked, shocked by what I was hearing from him.
He waved his hands. “I am not weird. What happened a while ago somewhat made you a star. We cannot continue our discussion because of the noise. Instead, we watched until it ended. You were so cool a while ago, we kept on nodding to your confutation and I even clapped after that.” he explained.

“It is my work.” I answered. “I know how to handle things like that.” I added.
“By the way, do you really have two jobs?” He asked. “In the restaurant or here?” he added.
“Yes, why?” I answered.
He shook his head. “Nothing, I just thought it was cool.” he said.
Usually, people who are asking me about that will show their pity for me. But him? He even smiled, saying it was cool to have two jobs in a day.
I felt somewhat happy. It is the first time someone has complimented me. I don’t really know.
I guess he is not an a*shole after all.
