Chapter 2 What Do You Think of Marrying Me?
Clarissa’s colleagues were very quiet. No doubt, it was due to Damien being on the bus. Due to that,
her phone’s ringtone sounded particularly loud.
When Clarissa helped Damien back to his room, her phone was in her pants pocket. It probably
dropped when she was taking off her clothes. After an enchanting session, she had forgotten all about
it.
Clarissa quickly composed herself. Damien seemingly took the bus to capture his “prey”. It was
unknown if he knew that she was the person who slept with him. However, based on Lily’s words from
earlier, Damien had most likely found out the truth.
Hence, Clarissa decided to just reveal herself.
Lily looked at Clarissa with a puzzled gaze. She tilted her head in Damien’s direction and asked,
“What’s going on?”
“Stop calling.”
Clarissa held Lily’s hands down. This was an extremely awkward situation. She did not even know how
to begin explaining. From NôvelDrama.Org.
“Why is your phone with President Lawrence?” Lily asked Clarrisa again in a low voice. The former was
being really nosy.
“I…”
Just as Clarissa was about to explain, Damien, who was in the front row, turned his head back.
Clarissa was scared out of her wits.
“Is this your phone number?” Damien asked Lily as he held Clarissa’s phone up. The words “Crazy
Lily” were displayed on the phone’s screen.
“Crazy Lily” was the nickname Clarissa gave Lily.
Lily nodded her head like a pug. “Yes, President Lawrence. Since Clarissa couldn’t find her phone, she
asked me to make a call.”
Just like that, Lily revealed Clarissa’s name. Clarissa could not pretend to be ignorant anymore.
“Is this your phone? You dropped it on the front seat just now when your hands were full with your
luggage.”
Damien’s attention was turned toward Clarissa. His gaze was calm yet profound. Although that gaze
felt friendly and familiar, there was also a unique deepness to it. Clarissa could not see through his
thoughts at all.
“Oh, I was careless. It was my mistake. Thank you, President Lawrence.”
Despite being nervous, Clarissa managed to nod her head gratefully. Then, she took her phone from
Damien’s hands, playing along with his act.
Damien turned his head back to the front after resolving the awkward situation.
Clarissa pretended to scroll through her phone. None of the things she had seen registered in her
mind. The way Damien acted earlier was as if he was giving her a hint. His voice clearly sounded like
he wanted to end things from last night.
Clarissa was an adult. She could afford to play. In fact, she also planned to treat last night’s incident as
a dream.
Would it be good or bad for her name to be remembered by Damien? She thought to herself, ‘I might
get lucky. After all, he’s so busy. Why would he be bothered by this incident?’
In a blink of an eye, half a month had passed. Clarissa never met Damien again. Even if there was a
company meeting, only the senior managers were involved. She was just an intern whose fate was yet
to be determined.
Clarissa was worried that she might not be able to remain in New East Corporation. At the same time,
she would occasionally think about Damien and recall their sexual encounter. It was not surprising, as
that was Clarissa’s first time.
One day, the internal telephone on Clarissa’s table rang.
“Clarissa?” The person on the other end of the call asked.
Clarissa was panicking, She had a puzzled look on her face. Why did that voice sound so familiar?
Ever since that night, she could never forget Damien’s husky voice. His words, “turn off the lights”, kept
replaying in Clarissa’s head. The caller’s identity was obvious.
“Yes?”
“Come to my office.”
“Huh?”
“Come to my office.”
That caller repeated.
“Ok.”
Clarissa’s heart was thumping wildly. She thought, ‘It’s most probably not work-related stuff.’ There was
a wide gap between Damien’s and her status. Even if there were an issue with work, he would not
directly look for her. Could it be about the incident during the team-building activity? Was Damien going
to fire her so nobody would find out?
After knocking on Damien’s office door, Clarissa entered. Damien was more attentive than before. He
was eyeing her from head to toe.
Clarissa was flustered.
Simultaneously, she was looking at Damien ravenously.
This made Damien feel strange.
“Is there something on my face?” He asked Clarissa.
Only then did Clarissa snap out of her thoughts.
“Hmm?”
Without wasting any time, Damien went straight to the point.
“What do you think of marrying me?”
Clarissa frowned slightly.
“Huh?”
That topic was completely different from what she was thinking.
