Chapter 2056
Bonnie took extra care with her appearance that evening. Climbing the social ladder had always been her game, and Morgan was the most promising of all her suitors. She was determined to keep him close.
Fortunately, Morgan was quite amenable, and thanks to a lucky incident during a university camping trip where she had inadvertently saved his life, he was utterly devoted to her.
She had toyed with the idea of using Morgan to get closer to Dylan, thinking that moving on to someone more influential could be beneficial. Despite Morgan's repeated attempts, Dylan remained elusive, not even bothering to return phone calls.
Then, Bonnie shifted her sights to Beck, a move that led to an embarrassing rebuke. Dressed to the nines, she had waited for him at his hotel, only to be publicly called a "freak" by Beck. Although Bonnie was no stunner, she had always considered herself quite attractive. She had assumed Beck was just drunk, but his outright dismissal stung deeply.
After several failed attempts at seduction, Bonnie worried she might lose Morgan too if she persisted. Reluctantly, she abandoned her pursuit, though deep down, she still longed for Beck. Known as a playboy who was generous with women, except for his sharp tongue, Beck appeared to have no flaws. Holding a significant share in the Sanders family fortune made him seem more approachable than the aloof and mysterious Dylan.
Driving to meet Beck, Bonnie spotted his car and instinctively followed it. Beck, fresh from a humiliating punishment, was in a foul mood, fuming about everything, including Stella's apparent anger towards him.
The car stopped at an underground casino owned by lan Raymond, a location rarely visited by its owner. However, since lan's marriage to Maja Pennyfeather, the Sanders family had become well-known figures there.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Beck, not in the best of spirits, headed straight for the gambling tables, surrounded by a heap of chips. Nydia, standing nearby with a fan pressed against her chest, remarked, "Mr. Sanders, your brother has warned us. He'll only allow you to lose up to this amount." Beck wasn't known to lose his cool over gambling, nor was he an easy mark at the tables. Raised in the disciplined environment of the Sanders family, he had developed a strong character, even if he hadn't taken an active role in the family business. "When did my brother come by?" Beck inquired, intrigued.
Nydia chuckled, "When his girlfriend went missing and our guys found her. He came personally to pick her up."
Beck frowned, about to clarify that the girl wasn't really his brother's girlfriend, but decided it wasn't worth the effort to correct the assumption.
As the game was about to start,
Beck noticed a rich kid making an entrance with Stella by his side. Stella, usually seen in light makeup, had opted for a heavier look that evening, charmingly standing next to the rich kid.
Beck's irritation grew as Nydia commented, "There she is again."
"Do you recognize that woman?" Beck asked.
Nydia nodded, "Of course. This
casino was won by lan when he was just a teenager, gambling with his life. He's the craziest person I've known, aside from Stella. She came here once to gamble away her debts. If it wasn't for her brains, she might've ended up in a dire situation with the men at that table."
"What do you mean?" Beck queried, puzzled.
"Just what it sounds like. She had no money and gambled with herself as the stake. She won millions that night, not a huge sum for this place, but daring to risk her own body on her first visit? She was the first."
Nydia, covering her mouth with the
fan, leaned closer to Beck and whispered, "Don't be fooled by her beauty. When cornered, she can be ruthless. It's a mystery why such a pretty girl owed so much money. She gambled here for three consecutive days, and because of her looks, the men were especially wild."
Beck, feeling unexpectedly annoyed, admitted, "I've never seen such an outrageous woman.'
Nydia sighed, straightening up, "Neither have I."
